The fairways and greens are very well maintained. The pro shop is very nice as well. This course is not a course for beginers.

It is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon and an even better place to learn something. I sincerely believe that Virgil Herring is a genius at golf instruction, check him out.
Read More On Citysearch Arran 10/2/2002 - Simply the bestWorth the drive and well worth the money. If you like carpet like fairways and green and soft greens this is your only choice. Not once have I been there where they have had burnt out greens or fairways. The maintenance staff is courteous when you are trying to hit or putt and the rest of the staff is knowledgeable and really go out of their way to help out.

It will definately not be our last. We intend to play there every chance we get. The General's Retreat course was great and we look forward to trying President's Reserve. The staff was exceptional and the course itself was immaculate. Outstanding!

The General's Retreat has the basic style of most courses, but it is in a much higher standing. Its my favorite of the 2 courses. The Presidental Reserve has a country style, complete with a barn.
