VERY good beer selection, good food, good Happy Hour prices and friendly, attentive service. A++
went 1st time w/friends from the hospital for some muchies & a drink or two--bad choice.
we were first @ the bar & bartender got the orders wrong. So we decided to try a table hoping that would be better--bad choice. we ended up under a speaker that was both loud & had a tinny sound. server was more interested in trying to score w/somebody at another table, so we were ignored unless we spoke u...
I couldn't get a dinner order placed as the lone bartender was busy filling drinks- then she got the food order wrong and then the food was wilted and poorly done. Her customer service was blatantly absent and she kept correcting the wait staff in a very stern manner in front of the customer.
Moriarty's has a great neighborhood bar/restaurant feel to it. Just as important, if not more, the pub grub is really good(wings, etc.). Also, if you want a great draft beer selection(with a couple of Belgians on tap), this is the place. Very good service too.
Entered the restaurant, was asked if we wanted to sit at a tiny table, squished in a corner... not sure what the alternative was. We had a speaker directly overhead and the music was LOUD. We asked the waitress if the music could be turned down - to her credit, she did ask someone, but was told no. It took a long time for the wings to come out, and, honestly, they weren't too bad. Certainly w...
I went here twice in one week. First time - impressed by the average food for a pretty cheap and convenient happy hour....ok, that was nice. So I went back with a friend a few days later.
Second time I went --- mysteriously the waitress demanded my ID for collateral for my friend and I (which are very unpretentious late 30 something women) to eat outside - and have beers OUT FRONT....? during ...
They have a good selection of beers on tap with a nice happy hour for beers. The food is average- canned mushrooms on the burgers. Canned enchilada sauce without much flavor on the Mexican. . Service was good and quick and staff generally pleasant. . Nice atmosphere.
Looked for days on Citysearch to find the perfect place for some family and friends to meet. Wanted a place with decent food, service, beers, ambiance, and above all, wanted to feel comfortable and relaxed. After reading many reviews, settled on Moriarty's and it did not disappoint! First I called the restaurant with a couple of questions and the girl that answered the phone was very pleasant ...
Ok, they have the greatest WINGS in town and they knwo it - there's no other. We go just for the wings and nothing else. That'sone place that I can say I don't need to see the menu.
I have eaten wings at nearly every bar in center city Philadelphia, and in hundreds of restaurants and bars in the US. Moriarty's wings are the best I've ever eaten. The service is excellent and the beers on tap are diverse and reasonably priced. If you're in town for a show or a game, definitely stop in. If you live in NE Philly, make the trip. Nothing up in Mayfair or Tacony compares to this.
I lived near Moriarity's for 6 years and the wings kept me coming back. I now live in South Philly and make the trip just to have more!
It's a very busy place, so it can sometimes be hard to get a table and the waiters are very busy. But the wings are the best in Philly!
A favorite of mind and colleagues at work. We always enjoy going in for a bite or beverage of your choice after a show or a long day at work. They have great selection and very friendly staff. I would definitely recommend to a friend.
They really do live up to their reputation on the hot wings. I ordered them being hungry, expecting them to be par for the course. I was wrong. They were the best wings I have had to date anywhere. The portion was huge also. Their beer selection is outstanding in a town full of bars with great beer. It gets very crowded, ttry to get in early for food ( 6 ), later for bar life. Highly recommended,...
Love the big juicy burgers and the fun atmosphere. Can be a little noisy and crowded, but that's its charm. Good prices, good food, decent portions. Wish they'd lose the trendy new sidewalk cafe - sidewalk is way too narrow for the tables, and that "side street" is just a glorified alley.
This is a great stop for a hot meal and a Smithwicks before going to the theatre. I enjoy the nightly special menu so much that I seldom get to the regular menu. This has a warm, friendly atmosphere. Make a reservation if you have theatre tickets. Many people like to make this part of their night out in Philadelphia for dinner and a show. Have an Irish coffee!
If you are on your way to the Walnut Street Theatre this is a great place to get a bite to eat. It is very upscale bar/tavern food with personality. If you are a beer drinker this is a good place to get something good on draft. Lots of activity and noisey but in a fun city sort of way. Good place to hang out with friends too. I had burritos and they were yummy. I will go back.
Cozy, dimly lit place. Irish fare without attitude; waitstaff are so down-to-earth. Food is great (especially he appetizers) and not overpriced. It is always relatively easy to get a seat at the bar. If you come with a group, staff are happy to accomodate and seat you as soon as possible.
This is a very chill place that can be a little loud. They have a ton of beer on tap and a large menu. I went when it was packed, had a 1/2 hour wait, yet the food came out in a flash. The food is great. It's in a great location. I would go back often.
This is a great place just to enjoy yourself with friends. The wings are AMAZING!!!! waiters are really friendly :)
I am slightly hesitant to write a good review for Moriarty's, because I don't want you to steal my seat at the bar! This is a wonderful homey place that is great for it's wide variety of beers and menu choices. (Irish soup is my favorite.) They serve Philly's best wings, awesome traditional Irish cuisine, but steer clear of the Mexican food section... you could do better, it's very generic. (So...
We visit this place all the time. Love the food. The wings are the best we've had in Philly.
The barstaff is very friendly as well.
I've read a few of the reviews here that say Moriarty's is no good, but I live right down the street and I'd rather spend my hard earned cash on good food (like Moriarty's huge array of Mexican, American, and Irish food) and good people(the owners of the restuarant are very hands-on). I attended their annual New Year's Eve bash and it was AMAZING! The food, the drinks, and the music were great....
My girlfriend and I happened to be in the area and stopped into Moriarty's just because the menu looked interested. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent. The chips for the chips and salsa side order were very good, although the salsa was probably supermarket quality. I had the corned beef special sandwich (corned beef, cole slaw and russian dressing on rye bread) which was fan...
Comfortable, inviting atmosphere; friendly staff and patrons; very clean; excellent beer selection; great appetizers -- overall, a very pleasant experience.
Just wanted to say, in case she reads these!, that we loved our server...I think her name was Yvonne - pretty Irish girl. So nice to go to an Irish pub with a real Irish server. She was fantastic and made the experience so much fun!! My husband and I were there a month or so ago and hope to return soon and see you again.
I discovered this bar far too late in my business assignment stay in Philly. Once I did discover it, I haven't been able to let a week pass without a plate full of their out-of-this-world wings. Only order a small: 10 whole wings. I often return a second night for the french dip. They have a huge selection of great beers; only the fussiest would not find a suitable selection.
I also have...
I've been going to Moriarty's off and on for years. It's all about the wings. They are the best in the city. Be sure to have a cold pint of beer ready when they get to your table. This place will probably have a brew you like. The portions are generous making it worth the $8.00 for a large order. When seated try to get a booth or be prepared to knock elbows with other tables. They pack 'em...
This is not a great restaurant. What this is, is a relaxing pub people who live nearby will return to time after time to unwind and enjoy the company of their fellow man (or woman). I think that Philadelphians are spoiled by the wonderful and relaxing pubs in their city. Move elsewhere, and you will wish that there were a Moriarty's in your new home, but there won't be. Objectively speaking, it h...
food is great & it's open late for those who like to eat dinner after 6pm
I have gone to Moriarty's for approximately 25 years and have never had a meal I did not enjoy. The atmosphere is all inclusive, the food inexpensive and always high quality.
don't get sent upstairs where there is an overpriced menu. food on first floor is crisp and fresh, and well cooked.
The food is good; however there are some things that need improvement: staff needs to be much more flexible with special requests and get orders right the first time; second, they need to be more flexible when it comes to seating and section requests; currently they are very difficult with it comes to this. They should take a lesson from Cavanaugh's in University City.
Moriarty's has the best wings in Philly. I've tried them all, full serving of wings for about $9 bucks wash it down with some beer and you'll be set. spicy, hot right out of the kitchen
