memorable fine dining experience, with rich and complex food.experienced staff.beautiful views.the menu changes from time to time ,always offering fresh innovative ideas to the menu.rissottos are my particular favorite.extensive wine list.
WHILE VACATIONING FROM MASSACHUSETTS, MY WIFE AND I DINED HERE AFTER READING GREAT REVIEWS AND HEARING THE SAME FROM HOTEL STAFF. MENU SELECTION WAS LIMITED AT BEST, AND THE ALA CARTE SECTION WAS DOWNRIGHT LAUGHABLE. MY WIFE ORDERED PORK SHORTRIBS, WHATEVER THAT'S SUPPOSED TO BE (I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF IT, AND NEITHER HAVE ANY CHEF FRIENDS I HAVE ) WHICH CONSISTED OF THREE RIB BONES WITH LOTS OF...
The restaurant atmosphere is nice - nothing too great, but a cool view of the Ferry Building, and that's where the only "good" part of this restaurant stops. The soup my wife had was awful - she said it tasted like chicken broth with bits of chicken from KFC in it. My crab salad was OK, but there was WAY too much dressing on it, like a thick yellow mayonnaise/hollandaise sauce on it - completely ...
We booked reservations at One Market for Thanksgiving this year. The three course menu sounded delightful with pumpkin ravioli, turkey with cornbread stuffing and several amazing dessert selections. After we were seated at a table with a beautiful view and ordered, I said to my husband how thankful I was to live in California where I don't have to worry about food being made with beef broth, ...
The food was excellent and the view of the cross-streets was pleasant, but the service left something to be desired.
I was impressed by the food at One Market. I definitely recommend the duck breast and the scallops wrapped in pancetta. We took advantage of crab specials and ate excellent crab cakes as a starter. I appreciated the "mini desserts" for just $5. My husband got the prix fixe menu, duck breast included, and we thought it was a great deal. I am happy to say that the food at One Market provided ...
my family tried to have a nice birthday dinnner here, but had mixed results. we started in the bar and enjoyed the long and creative drink menu, and when we moved to the table things started off well with tasty bread and good service. my dad described the atmosphere as "early bank" - true enough - and i think the description of "superb" bay views is a bit trumped up (great view of the embarcade...
This is my favorite lunch spot with clients or co-workers. Great Atmosphere and very yummy menu. They have a nice wine list and their staff is very friendly and knowledgable. My favorite are their tuna dishes, but I've been happy with everything I've tried. Will always be returning and brining friends to share this nice place.
I have eaten here many times and the restaurant never fails to please. The roasted meats are terrific and the sides are fun for sharing, particularly the chickpea fries. The wine list highlights many, many small producers--great choices. The mini desserts are delicious, particularly the Mint Ice Cream Sandwich. This is one of the most underrated restaurants in San Francisco by far!
Maybe its because I always go here with large groups, but I have consistently found both the food and the service to be "just ok". Consistency is a plus in that we always can count on a passible meal, but I have never found much "inspired" about the menu, the atmosphere, or the waitstaff. Its in a very convenient location and can seat (and adequately serve) very large groups.
My girlfriends and I had a great night at One Market. We met the bartenders, Francisco and Brian (who were cute and fun) during happy hour in the bar, and then had dinner at the Chef's table in the restaurant. Chef Mark amazed us course after course, and Steve, the Sommelier wowed us with his wine selections. We will be back soon, no doubt. ;)
I have tried all of the fish dishes on the lunch menu and they are all EXCELLENT. Perfectly cooked, delicious and all prepared with a "little something extra" that makes you feel special when you eat it.
For example there is a Tuna Salad (Nicoise), which has all the ingredients of the classic French salad but is updated with the modern California-styled seared tuna pieces, YUM. The crab sa...
There is only a view of the ferry building not the waterfront. Happy hour is only for the people sitting at the bar not for diners. Very dissappointing! The restaurant was less than a quarter full and the hostess asked us if we had reservations. She seemed displeased that we didn't then sat us. The appertisers were the highlight of the meal. The squash flower risotto was excellent. The bre...
I went after work one day and it's the best happy hour in the city. They have the best vodka selection I've ever seen. The bartenders are great (especially Francisco ) and so were the drinks. The Sommelier, Steve, was also very helpful with wine selections. We will definitely be back!
I had dinner there last night and it was excellent. My wife had the halibut and I had the pork tenderloin and we were very, very pleased. I liked the fact that the prices were in the $25 dollar entree range and not over $30. We shared the dessert trio where you pick three smaller portion desserts to make up your own platter. Fantastic. Other restuarnants should do the same. Our service was great,...
I took some friends after the baseball game, and it was great. I had no problem getting in with out a reservation(we were very early) and the food and service were fabulous. I would highly recomend to friends and will certainly be back.
I've eaten here many times, but tonight was astonishingly bad: we were seated for over 20 minutes before a server first approached us; dishes were served to the wrong people at every course; they attempted to serve us courses that were for a nearby table; at every course there was at least one person who did not receive their order; all the entree plates were cleared while one person was still fi...
We've eaten here twice. The food is very good but the service has been lacking both times. The second time we ate here, we booked the chef's table with some friends for a birthday celebration. At $95 per person, we shouldn't have had to wave down a cook to find our server on numerous occasions. I doubt I would come here again when I can get great food AND GREAT SERVICE elsewhere.
I think this place is underated. I've seen really good reviews on Citysearch and a few negative ones. I've eaten there a few times this year and the food is stellar. Service was good too. Personally, I'm tired of small plates and here you get FED. Generous portions of well prepared food. Happy Hour is fun and a deal though I thought music was a little staid. I also appreciate restaurants that hav...
I used to work 3 blocks away, so I ate there quite often for power business lunches. The steak was awesome. I always start with their head of lettuce caesar salad. Their best non-alcoholic drink is the raspberry lemonade. I liked the food so much that I would also take dates here for dinners, where the mood is more romantic and the location is very nice, right next to the Embarcadero. The food i...
I've been here a few times in the past year and haven't been disappointed yet...delicious meals but last one (this past weekend) was especially good as our bottle of wine was half off. Can't figure out how they can do that but we plan to go a couple more times before the special is over at the end of the month.
One Market was recommended to me by another restaurant in the area. I am planning an event there and came out to San Fran to test and review each potential restaurant. The food was consistently good though a bit eclectic. I went with a group of 6 people and each dish was very good. I will be holding my client dinner there and will give another review once that is done, but the staff was very h...
I took clients to the restaurant for dinner. The hostess had an aweful attitude. She was very "put-out" that our entire party that we reserved for did not show up (we were one shy of the original reservation). The waiter started out very strong by being friendly and offering the wine list right at the beginning as we sat down. However, after he took the order, the service really slowed down. W...
i like the place but not the price. you get way more somewhere else. it's not really exciting but it's a great place for business dinner. NOTE: don't take your date there. Also, their set dinner menue might seems to be a good deal but very limited selection.
I have to admit that I was also pleasantly surprised with the quality at One Market after reading some of these reviews. Service was generous and attentive, atmosphere was inviting, and the food was excellent. I would recommend the celery root salad with rocquefort, and the pumpkin seed-crusted snapper was tasty. If like me, you miss Eleven Madison in NY, One Market almost does the trick.
Wow. If I had read these reviews before going, I probably would have picked another restaurant. The food was excellent - I had the gnocchi and my dining companion had the salmon. Both were absolutely outstanding. Everything is served with fresh, warm bread and a smile. Our server Jeff was attentive without being overbearing and helped us with our selections. I would highly recomend the blended le...
My company frequently booked One Market for business lunches and evening client meetings. Although the ambience is pleasing, the food is not. A sample entree? Pasta with pesto and belgian endive. For the record, arugula and anisette does not make a tasty pesto--it makes a bitter inedible dressing and when poured over bland over-cooked egg noodles coated in pine nuts with slivers of endive an i...
The restaurant has a nice open feeling to it. However, the food was not good at all. They had no taste to them. The cocktails were watered down as well!
I feel that One Market is over priced, especially for the quality of food. I wouldn't mind spending the money if it was good..but I found the food to be moderate.
If you have an unlimited expense account and are not interested in good food -- this is the place for you. The setting is noisy, the food is average at best, and the prices are high. Add poor service to that and you have a good description of One Market.
I have eaten at this restaurant twice and both times the service was horrible. The wait staff there are very unprofessional and rude! Food was only ok. There are other restaurants of the same level with much better food and service such as Rubicon, Farrallon and Hawthorne Lane.
We didn't expect too much based on other reviews here, but everything was perfect. Perhaps there are consistency problems, but start to finish we had a great experience. Super food (foie gras salad!!), great service, nice wine, and piano music. All together a hard to beat combination.
