This is a nice little restaurant in the Metreon food court. It is not a full service place and you have to bus your own table. The pasta and pizza are good.
The Firewood eatery has delicious healthy food to choose from. The wood fire flavor permeates the meats and enhances the taste of each dish. Enjoy the chicken with a side of vegies, can't go wrong with that healthy combination.
I first emailed the owners about their reasoning of silverware not being in wrap or instead in a basket where everyone's hands reached in to pick up a utinsil. They ignored my email.
It's flu season. There's a open basket where reuseable silverware is there for the taking (this is a semi fast food self serve restaurant) and EVERYONE reaches in this basket with their hands.
You order you...
this place is pretty good if you are willing to pay a higher price for pizza. not greasy, there's seating, limited menu. if you need a break and have a hankering for pizza, then this is the place for you.
Nice atmosphere. Prices are within reason and the pizza...well, technically this is pretty good pizza but it's the kind that's so thin it's almost into matzoh cracker territory and some people don't care for that. I don't mind the style but it's not particularly filling and makes this pizza more of an appetizer than a meal. The sauces and toppings are okay but not soul-thrilling or innovative. Th...
I always get their lasagna, and I really enjoy this place. It's relatively inexpensive - lasagna is $10 - and it's a nice place to eat before a movie or shopping in the area. Service is friendly and the ambience is bright. After having mediocre Thai food in the new Westfield, I am super happy that this place is in the Metreon (and cheaper, too, it seems - for the quality of food).
The Metreon features some fairly high-end stores and their food court suits the overall quality of the place nicely. Our salads were really decent though I had to retreive more iced tea for us. My girlfriend's sandwhich was a bit dry but this was solved by adding extra dressing. They'd get a higher score from me if we ever had table service.
Probably the best food that you'll get in a foodcourt and with its location why wouldn't you grab some grub before or after a movie. The food is consistent and is delivered to your table fast. The entrees are a good portion and tasty. Try the baked rigatoni and a side of roasted red peppers.
Firewood has great salads and pizza for a good value - Split one of each with a friend or go for the side salads and pizza. Sometimes the pasta can be pretty salty (like the mac n' cheese - yes they will give it to you even if you aren't a kid!). The chicken and roasted potatoes are tasty as well. Beware if there is a convention - the Metreon can be quite crowded.
I love Firewood's pizza and array of appetizers, always fresh and satisfying. I especially recommend the Prosciuto Pizza and don't forget the tiramisu. A must before a movie or for a casual bite.
Cream Sauce. It is the best pasta, I have to admit, and I have to admit that I'm a little embarrassed by that. And free olives rank up there on my list also. I think Firewood is a great restaurant, and I like to go there, even when I'm not at the Metreon for a movie.
