I've been here a couple of times (always with a reservation) and it has always been good. I only ever order the spaghetti parmesean because that is what they are known for and it is great.
I also buy their spaghetti sauce in the store so I can have it at home, too!
We had a 50th anniversary party here for my parents on a busy Saturday night. Everyone ordered off the menu and the food was delivered so quick were all surprised. Everything was great and I was shocked at how little it cost. My personal favorite is the spaghetti parm. My kids liked the food and they could each pick their own pasta and sauce. Everyone gets their own 'bib' instead of a napkin...
Chef's is special to me, it's about the atmosphere and memories and great food. Their food is unique, which is what I love. They don't cater to a huge spread of palates like chains like Olive Garden do, but any true food lover knows that the smaller, unique, and family-operated restaurants far supersede all else. I live in Arizona and I can't wait until I'm back in Buffalo to eat here again. Peo...
I have always heard wonderful things about Chef's so we tried it and they must be doing soemthing right because it took a while to get in the place as it was so very crowded. However I don't understand why...Everything is a la carte and not very good for the overly high prices. I haven't gone back.
After so many rave reviews and recommendations (including being voted best Italian in buffalo) a friend and myself decided to go to chef's. What a disappointment. This restaurant should more clearly label itself Italian American, none of the dishes are authentic or imaginative, as aforementioned the sauce is nothing special and comparable to ragu or prego, the pasta is garbage, and desserts were...
Chef's is probably the best Italian restaurant in Buffalo. When I go, I almost always get the Spaghetti Parmesan with meatballs, and it is always great. The sauce that they make there is delicious, and you can even buy jars of it. The only con is that it is often difficult to get a table without a reservation.
PROS: great pasta
CONS: hard to get a table without reservation
If you enjoy home made red sauce, You will love chefs. The spag parmasian is the house favorite and mine also. Lunch time is the busiest at this little eatery but the wait is worth it.
The spaghetti was way overcooked, the sauce was worse than some store bought brands.
How people think this is good Italian food, I don't know. Coming from an Italian, people who are enjoying this food obviously grew up eating Prego out of the jar. Quite possible the worst restaurant in Buffalo.
ALL cry babies need to make their own sauce from ragu and prego
Chefs is hands down the best Italion Resteraunt in Buffalo.
Chefs is the best Italian food I have had in Buffalo. I have had a number of recommendations of good Italian restaurants but Chefs is the only one that has lived up to the reviews.
Very disappointing considering this restaurant's reputation. The sauce is no better than Ragu's - bland, tasteless. Where are the fresh ingredients? Garlic? Oil? Oregano?
This place is still over rated, when a group of us went there one Sat. afternoon before going on the Miss Niagara cruise, none of us weempressed. I make better spaghetti then they do using Prego spaghetti sauce. And if I can do that, it doesn't say much for Chef's, does it?
For great, no-frills, Italian food, Chef's can't be beat. Great sauce, hefty portion sizes, good price. The spaghetti parm is an institution, but go for a small!
