  4. Shake-A-Paw Puppies
Shake A Paw puppies come from puppy mills, if you want a puppy from a puppy mill, go adopt one at North Shore or another shelter. You only have to pay the adoption fee and the animals are usually healthier because they have been vet checked. Many of them have even been fostered in someone's home. By buying at a pet store, you are promoting and encouraging puppy mills! Go save a dog, not promot...

  5. Shake-A-Paw is the worst
i am an animal lover and i think shake-a-paw should have a private back yard for the cats and dogs. Every time i go in there i see about 7-10 dogs in the same cage, and one time i went there i saw 7 puppies playing together then one of the employes came over and grabed a little cute shitzu by the neck VERY HARD. He thought he looked cute. So thats why i help collecting and donating money to oth...

  6. your fault
the people who have problems with your puppy... your fault!if you would do more research on the dog you wanted to buy, you would know that pet stores are not the best places to get puppies. 99% of all puppy stores get their puppies from puppy mills who all have a higher risk of getting diseases, and health problems. i would suggest to get a puppy at a shelter near you. or if you have a specific ...

  7. Shake-A-Paw Puppies is nice.
Shake-a-Paw in Hicksville is just like any other pet store that sells puppies - the puppies can get sick being that new puppies are introduced almost daily. Because they are so close together it is very difficult to keep them from being sick. I have purchased puppies from both Shake-a-Paw and The International Kennel Club and the Shake-a-Paw puppies were more healthy. Shake-a-Paw also carr...

  10. american bulldog with epilepsy bought in Hicksville store
My sister bought the cutest American Bulldog puppy from Shake a Paw in Hicksville Dec. 07. Not only did she walk out with the puppy but the sales person sold her alot of items she did not need at the whopping cost of $3,200. After a couple of months the dog starting having severe seizures and was diagnosed as having epilepsy. Shake a paw shrugged her off and told her that it is not a genetic...

  12. Just Wondering
I considered puppy mill rumors when I shopped at Shake A Paw. I tried to find a breeder and looked in shelters. I needed a hypoallergenic dog and I didn't want to spend a fortune. I found the Shake A Paw experience to be satisfactory. My puppy is happy and healthy and was given very good medical care before and after we purchased him. To the other posters, maybe the dogs were tired when you ...

  13. Drugged Dogs
Over the past two months I have gone into Shake-a-paw in Hicksville. On both occasions ALL of the dogs were sleeping and barely moving. I find it hard to believe that these dogs are not being drugged up. I have had many dogs and been in many shops and I have never seen anything like this. I actually brought some people with me the second time I went. They all said the same thing. It was dis...

  14. Puppy mill dogs..but at least they're happy.
I have been an animal lover all my life. Dogs are my joy in life. I had two dogs previously and they were both from shelters. It broke my heart. The first one had seizures and was so sick. Thousands in medical bills and she died at 12 years. My other from the shelter was the most precious thing i have ever seen. We bonded so quickly, she was my little darling...when she was 2 years old i noticed ...

  16. Shake A Paw is a terrible place for any type of animal-DO NOT BUY FROM THEM
Shake a Paw is not only terrible for dogs, but for rabbits as well. I bought my 2 month old (sup. a flop, who knows) bunny and I was obsessed with him. He was so adorable and was doing great. My boyfriend works nights, so he was perfect and I could come home to him every night. He was so soft and fluffy and happy. About 5 days after I got him, I noticed he stopped pooping. I called the vet the fo...

  17. What can I say really...
I figured I would add a review since its a substantial amount of time since I've had my newest addition. I purchased a german shephard puppy August 2007, she grew on me like wild fire.. I adored her and grew so attached, I had her for 7 months.. Through out that time she had various skin problems which we couldn't figure out.. wasn't fleas.. thought it was mange.. medication worked for a bit then...

  18. STAY AWAY!
My friend bought a Visla puppy there and within 48 hours it was dead. Severe respiratory infection. Yes, he got his money back, but a young puppy died! When we informed that manager he should have the other puppies checked - he shrugged it off and said this happens from time-to-time. Small consolation. DO NOT BUY FROM PET STORES! You can get a happy, healthy pup from a reputable breeder fo...

Shake a paw is a very bad a place to buy any animal. My cuz got a gunia pig from there and it had mites, ring worm and cuts all over it. Then one of my family friends bought a puppy for their daughter and it had fleas, and bite her, vomited alot and had diheria the as soon as they got it home. It was very expensive for dogs and everything else there i hope that this report helps all of you make t...

  20. Shake a Paw store in Hicksville
Any person who I ever spoke to that purchased a dog from Shake a Paw was very upset. The dogs came home and with in a day or so were sick. One friend spent $3,000 in vet bills. The dog would have died if they returned it to Shake a Paw. My daughter has a friend who worked in Shake a Paw in Hicksville and was told that papers are very often made up about the dogs parents and where they come fr...

  21. SHAKE A PAW
I VISIT THE SHAKE A PAW AT HICKSVILLE VERY OFTEN JUST TO SEE THE LITTLE PUPPIES. I DO ALWAYS SEE CLEAN PENS AND CAGES, WORKERS ARE ON TOP OF THE DOGS GROOMING, AND YEAH THAT STORE IS A LITTLE SMALL BUT THE DOGS ARE FAR FROM CROWDED MOST DOGS ARE ONLY 1-4 LBS. AND SOCIALIZING WITH OTHER PUPPIES IN THEIR CAGES IS GOOD FOR THE DOG RATHER THEN BEING LEFT ALONE. I ONLY FEEL BAD WHEN THE OLDER ONES A F...

  22. poor puppies
Animals are so overcrowded. I feel bad for each and everyone of those animals. We bought a puppy from them 2 years ago and it was flea infested. They picked up the tab but still don't they check the animals before they shoo them out the door.

  23. Sick Puppy
My sister purchased a dog here and the dog ended up being very sick. It was a very upsetting experience for her. I do not know if it was an isolated incident or not.

  24. Family Pet Center
Shake a Paw Puppies had an ok selection of puppies to choose from, however no where near the 300 that they claimed. In addition, they had accessories for your pets and professional dog training. Everything was expensive, however.
