The food here is beautiful: delicious, fresh and beautifully arranged. The decor needs updating. The restaurant appears to have been a seafood restaurant in a former life, as there are nautical looking ropes along the staircase to upper level. The food here is very authentic middle-eastern Lebanese cuisine. The dishes are large and satisfying and the bill is very inexpensive for the quality of the food.
The only odd thing about this place is that the restroom is 2 flights down in the basement.
Other than that, it was great.
The food is wonderful but I do agree that the waiter (it's ALWAYS the same guy whenever I've been there) doesn't exactly put you at ease.
This is what it is all about. Middle Eastern food prepared in traditional style...best baba, hummas and taboli....wonderful hot dishes - lamb with pinenuts and spinach...eggplant with yogurt sauce - outstanding! worth the trip!
