I LOVE coming to hi-life for half priced sushi on monday and tuesday. sure i have been here for a decent brunch, fajitas on saturdays and drinks here and there, but mondays at hi-life are my fav. with the nice weather lately, the patio has been packed and it can be hard to get a table outside with a bigger group. the service is good and the crowd--eclectic upper west side.

Hi-Life Bar & Grill is an awesome restaurant with specatular food. The staff was very understanding that we had a meeting with our friends, food came out quick and perfect with no sacarifice of quality. The decor was good and fabulous with upscale service to match. 5 stars all around.
I must say the the grilled chicken and citrus salad is really good. Mashed potatoes and creamed spinach was excellent too. I had the pork chop and it was great. It's not a fancy place but it does have a good home cooking kind of feel to it. Service is excellent but parking can be a challenge. This is a must visit!
Reminds me of an L.A. scene. Hi Life is cool in that, while it's easy going and casual. You never know when you might see a celebrity. A few weeks ago my girlfriends and I (all aspiring actresses) sat near James Franco from Spiderman. In New York it seems the celebrities only go to the downtown place of the moment, while in L.A. celebrities pop-up everywhere. We go to Hi Life for the food and ca...
I started coming to Hi Life with friends to take advantage of their daily special deals. I still come for the deals, but now I?m hooked on Hi Life?s excellent comfort food. They have great mashed potatoes and creamed spinach, hand cut fries and delicious pastas.
I love the city's classic, been there forever "joints", e.g. Pete's Tavern, Walkers, Old Town, Lenox Lounge, but Hi Life is my favorite. I've been frequenting Hi Life for over ten years and it has just grown on me. In my opinion there is simply not a more comfortable place to eat a steak and watch a ballgame, or meet friends for dinner. The decor is a mix of mahogany and leather upholstery, with ...
Hi Life is the perfect combination of food choices and drinks. Their sushi selections are varied, their martinis done well. Great ambiance, good location, very amenable staff who are very attentive and friendly. Would recommend.
I recommend this place for anyone that has not tried it yet. They have good early bird specials which keeps us coming back often. I love their sushi (spicy tuna roll is my favorite) and great burgers and fries. They are right across the street from Fred's which is also not bad, but not as good as Hi-Life.

First and foremost, the staff was not only excellent but pretty darn hot as well!! We came in on a Monday which is Sushi special night and (in my party of 3) each had a couple different rolls (my favorites were the spicy tuna and the Hi-Life roll). I know there are a lot of "authentic" sushi places in NYC but this was some of the best sushi I've had in a long time, and the price was perfect.

Very pleased with my experience at Hi Life Bar and Grill. The servers are all very friendly, as well the manager! (which is not always the case in some places!!) Our drinks and food were delicious, and the manager was very prompt and enthusiastic. There is a great vibe at that place. Definately a fun experience and an awesome place to eat and/or just hang out. Also, the amount of seating they hav...
i used to go to hi life ages ago and remembered it being pretty good so when my bf and i found ourselves on the UWS we decided to check it out. things started out okay, we were served our drinks fairly quickly and they were fine. but when our potato skins appetizer showed up with burnt skins and barely melted cheese, we became wary about what was to come. and what came can only be described as...
We recently had dinner here and had a great experience. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and very attentive. We will definitley go back.
Very good bar. Excellent kitchen. Outstanding sushi. Good service. Conversation with owner is definitely not recommended.
I like a great martini and HiLife had them. The NY strip was also wonderful. I'll go back for sure.

I highly recommend this. The service was awesome and the food was really good. The whole staff was very friendly and we were in and out very quickly. Awesome!
I love this place. It has a fun atmosphere and great food. The resturant offers early dinner deals in addition to daily specials. They have half price sushi on Monday & Tuesday and 5 dollars off wine Wednesday & Sunday.
I'm a eleven year old child and I love The Hi-Life Bar and Grill!
Their specials, food variety, waiters and waitresses, good prices, outside seating and huge plasma screen Tv's make The Hi-Life Bar and Grill the place it is. Their food consists of good American style food, mexican food, fish, meat and sushi. They have a half price sushi night on Monday. Hi- Life Bar and Grill's hamburger...

I love this place. You can go a lot and get something different each time. Get the mussels...they are a yummy good deal.
Great sushi and awesome prices on Monday / Tuesday (1/2 off sushi). Service was great and beer /sake was reasonable. Will definitely be there again.. Probably next week.
Definitely the best place for burgers and drinks on a warm weekend night. There's great seating outside, and on the side by the large open doors. Excellent burgers!
As Christmas approaches my stops at Hi-Life seem to increase in frequency. Their simply isn't a cozier joint in all of NYC. Yes, I do quite alot of drinking there, but I use the always excellent food to entice my friends to join me. I'm waiting now for huge snow storm to trap me at Hi-Life right thru Christmas.
Looked like a scene from Scarface meets Mod. First floor area is classy but stupid pond in basement and "try too hard" beds on second floor were sad. Nice drinks though and friendly crowd and staff.
I'm not a fussy eater and I have never walked out of a restaurant before. But I walked out of hi-life because the food was plain inedible. We also had to wait 40 minutes for our food to come out. When it did come out, they gave us the wrong order. Hi-Life offered huge portions - ordered Pad Thai pasta bowl special - but the food was disgusting. The noodles were all stuck together with red sticky ...
Almost don't want to share this place & have it get too busy, but, Mon & Tues night specials include 1/2 price sushi which is really fresh. The manager & staff are excellent - very nice. Strongly recommended!
The Hi Life has been pouring the drinks for as long as I can remember. It was welcoming when I was in college, and it's still welcoming even though I'm in my 30's (but I tend not to go there on weekend nights anymore). The bartenders will put a smile on your face, even if they won't be winning the swimsuit contest anytime soon. I have never eaten the food here, but why would I want to? The dr...
A great neighbohood standard. Have been going for years, never lets you down. We go a few times a month.
We have been a couple of times and the food is great. Drinks are great. A nice quaint grill for the neighborhood. Sports screen for the guys. inexpensive.
This is a great neighborhood place with a very low-key but fun atmosphere and good music playing. It's also cheap.
My husband's and my favorite upper west side neighborhood restaurant bar none, is thankfully not fully appreciated as I can usually get a seat in a booth or the cafe without having to wait. We love the friendly, been there forever charm, but even more important is the varied menu. I go for sushi and the chicken & citrus salad, and the big guy usually has a steak and fries.
This place is an old standard in the neighborhood. For its varied and rather large menu, it does just about everything pretty well. Half priced sushi nights are great but I swear the pieces are half the size on those nights. It is both a nice enough place to take someone and mellow enough to relax at the bar. There are always food and drink specials, which is also nice. The burgers are great...
Unassuming...kind of divy...but Jenn and Heather sure can entertain. We had a surprisingly good time and cut some rug to the fine tunes. Oh, and shots are only $3 bucks a pop on the weekends, a rare find in the city.
This place is decent, but the food is just as expensive as a nice restaurant in the same neighborhood. I recommend going elsewhere if you are in the 'hood.
Saturday Night Guacamole Night is the HI-Life answer to Free Rice Wine at the Chinese place nearby. It's totally killer, fresh and served with a smile by Marcie, who likes R. Kelly maybe a little too much. Anyway, the drinks were sensational and the atmosphere is cool if you like to party...
the dj is also a menace on the turntables...he doesn't like R Kellly, which I think is great. The manager...
Hi Life Bar and Grill is one of the best bars in the city!!! The bartenders, especially Heather, can always be found with smiles on their faces and a drink at the ready! The atmosphere is cool and relaxed, with a great variety of people. The food is pretty good, too, and quite inexpensive. It is particularly great on a Friday night...especially if you want to just have a few drinks and good ...
maybe it was an off day, but we showed up at 5:30 on a blazing sunday, the place was empty. we asked the hostess if they had frozen margaritas, she checked and said yes. we said we'd take 2, and sat outside. 20 minutes later we still had no drinks. we asked...and hostess, baretenders and waitresses all pointed fingers at each other. we pointed ourselves across the street to freds, where service w...
