Perfect for happy hour, after work or just a place to grab a beer with friends.
It is the type of bar I like. It is never overly crowded and never saw many rowdy people in there.
It is very spacious and relaxed.
The staff are pleasant to deal with.
It's not a sports bar... which in itself can get an A+ for. You can actually hear your date or friends speaking and noone sitting next to you trying to talk to you while spitting in your ear/face.
Antarctica is a cool place to hang out and watch a game. They have friendly bartenders and a bunch of beers on draft. You can also shoot a game of pool if the game gets boring. Highly Recommended.
Good beer, good drinks, good atmosphere, good people, good service, there's a pool table....Antarctica, a great American bar
Pretty plain place. There's a pool table in the back (the sticks could use some work). A few TV's scattered throughout and a decent jukebox with a mix of hip-hop and rock. Surprisingly draws a decent number of English and Irish folk. If you come to play pool for fun, be warned. The people who gather by the pool table are very competitive. If they lose, some will try and interfere with the ...
This dive bar is tucked away on Spring and Hudson. Never very crowded except during happy hour, it is a nice open space with a pool table. Name night happens every day and if it is your name that night, you drink for free. A great place to go if you want to take over the music and not be bothered. Definitely for happy hour only.
I've held two parties here and the staff and the space were great on both occassions. Very attentive bartender, plenty of seats, and a good jukebox. And the volume of the music is such that you can actually hold a conversation without screaming.
To me, it says everything that the only negative reviews Antarctica has received came from a couple who normally review upscale restaurants and a single swanky lounge. I love this place. I hang out at Antarctica often, love the juke, like to get in a game of pool or just hang out with friends. It's a regular pub, and anyone whose ever been in a dive will tell you, this is no dive!
Typical college looking kinda bar. Dark, smokey, but the drinks are loaded and given in pint glasses for about 6 bucks. Problem is it's hit or miss on certain weekends.
My very first night in NYC and I spent it here. Their Name of the Day allowed me to drink free the entire night. The bartender even comped my friends and me a round of free shots! It was great! Definitely making this a regular stop on all of my trips to NYC.
From the enormous cocktails to the more than generous buybacks the reviews have been accurate. This is a great bar, I just wish there were more people to enjoy it with.
Antarctica is everybody's favorite dive- with HUGE cheap drinks and plenty of seating- how can you go wrong?
Great staff, great jukebox and great drinks for the right price!
Friendly enough staff, decent prices and lots of room (at least the Friday I went there was). Nice breath of fresh air compared to all those "trendy" spots downtown.
Tremendous place... just take a moment to read the witty/catchy writings on the Blackboards ...
Great afterwork... great for an NBA game ... great cold beer... good crowd
