really awful I went in April and just feel compelled to write a review of the experience. We had been there before a few times for celebrations and such so decided to go for my birthday. I never really thought the food was spectacular, but this time it was literally inedible. to begin, I ordered the eggplant rollatini as an appetizer which my friend and me split. I should have grabbed him and left as soon as ... Read More On Citysearchanthonypizzaz 6/14/2009
Not worth the horrible service! THE CHECK WAS RIDICULOUS. Our server tacked on 20% for himself because we had a party of 8. I'm used to 15% or 18%, but not 20%. It didn't say that anywhere on the website or the menu. On top of everything, the service was TERRIBLE. I will never come back here.

It's the economy, not the restaurant In a galaxy far away, a long, long time ago, you made reservations at IL Cortile and often you would drop someone?s name and then maybe, maybe you would get a table. Boy has times changed! The other day I was in little Italy, now a ghost town, I walked into IL Cortile and was seated immediately. The huge restaurant was so empty that some preschoolers were playing tag in a closed section that was ... Read More On Citysearchdshapusa 3/13/2009

Tourist Trap Disgusting food I only gave it 1 star because I had to. There was nothing good about this place. The gravy(sauce for you non-NYC people) was garbage and actually tasted like there was curry in it. I would rather eat gravy frrom the jar! The service sucked and the prices were typical NYC tourist trap over-priced swill. First it took forever to get seated then the waiter had an attitude, so I tried to loosen him u... For Tourlists only! It used to be out-standing. It is so disappointing! The lack of nice ambiance, the attitude from over-worked waiters, and FOOD!!! I ordered aldente, but what I had was like, school lunch over-cooked PASTA. I would not go back there and it is expensive too. I would rather go some place else. Awesome Food, Service and Atmosphere 1/18/08 My wife and I went there 1/18/08. We had a great experience. We shared an antipasta, a salad and an Entree. There was no problem with us splitting our meal. As a matter of fact, the server split the salad for us. The service was excellent and the food was great also.

Terrible and Over- rated!!! Worst restaurant experience I have ever had!
(This is my first time writing a review, but I went there BASED on the good rating it has on CitySearch so I felt compelled to warn others away!!)

A Joyful and Memorable Experience I have been meaning to write this review since I dined at Il Cortile in May 2007. I made arrangements for a large group, and when we arrived we were escorted to the lovely Renaissance Room. Our servers were gracious and kind, constantly making sure everything we needed was taken care of.
If you go to this restaurant, make sure you take your time. Food like this should be savored and enjoyed, r... Read More On Citysearchdebyjizi 11/15/2007
Such a disappointment! I've never felt compelled to write a review before, but I rely on this site for restaurant recommendations, so I want to save other diners from a miserable experience at Il Cortile. I had friends in from out of town who wanted to eat in Little Italy, so I chose Il Cortile after reading other reviews... what a mistake. The service was terrible, the waiter was just plain rude. AMAZING food, great experience! My once-fave Little Italy restaurant closed down years ago...I can now say I have a new favorite there! We dined here because we've been researching restaurants with private rooms for an event we're planning. This large restaurant has lots of cool areas...many various rooms offering a different experience (we liked sitting by the windows & people watching). The food was amazing - great salad & d... Gourmet Northern Italian. I mainly go to restaurants for the food. Nice atmosphere, etc. is ... well, nice, but being a real "foodie", I'll travel far and wide for a savory meal. I have been to Il Cortile about 4 times now, and always marvel at the quality of the dishes. Their breaded veal cutlet with proscuitto, some type of cheese and broccoli rabe is to die for. The veal cutlet is never tough (like at other places)... Read More On Citysearchyippee1999 5/2/2006

The illest eyetaliano spot! Frist of all, mad dudes who stress out on restaurants in general are usually extremely finicky (read: cheap). I am a true foodie, and this place was just ridiculously good. Big-ups for the fresh bread, the amazing antipasto, and the simple, yet delicious pasta dishes. Mouth watering! The below reviewers are RIGHT. I came here last year with my aunt and cousin and the food was absolutely mouth watering. I get belly hunger pangs just thinking about the Salmon Fettucine dish I ordered...yum. fantastic place for couples i love this place -- hands-down, my favorite italian restaurant in little italy. i've been there more than a dozen times and it's really consistently good food. only once have i been disappointed (busy fri nite and the place was packed), but even then, the food was good. servers are really great, and there's not too much turnover so there's a really fun, family atmosphere. they are more friendly ... Good for San Ginero Festivities I ate here during the San Ginero. While the place clearly jacked up the prices, it's nice place to sit and watch the crowd walk by.
The mussels were good, but not really that hot but the main courses where very tastey. I had the chicken Nepoleano and the sauce was nice and buttery. Service was decent considering the amount of people the waiter was serving.

I am a native New Yorker who enjoys dining out and I have been many places in the city, THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST! I think it would be hard to find any better italian food in New York. Disappointing Ordered the seafood salad, having been told of the shrimp and scallops. My dish had 2 (maybe 3) small shrimps and 2 small scallops - the rest was mainly octopus and squid. Had I been informed when I asked, I would not have ordered the seafood salad. The salmon and linguini was also a disappointment - very fishy tasting. Good Food, But Not For the Price & Service had a birthday party there last weekend, i was a little iffy about coming here because of the prices, but most of the reviews seemed positive. we had a party of 12 and afterwards i took a poll and the concensus was that the food was good but too salty, the ambience was good (we sat in the garden room), service was below average, and overall not worth the prices. i ordered a glass of wine and on... User review by kt2140 I have worked in the restaurant industry for 5 years, and so am understanding of things out of my server's control, and I have never experienced such poor service! Great Italian Restaurant Il Cortile is GREAT. Don't go at a busy time, because with a full house, I'm sure the staff just can't keep up. However, we went early -- sixish -- on a recent Saturday, got a very nice window table outlooking on Mulberry St., a very sympathetic waiter who recommended a fabulous barolo, brought extra parmasiano when we told him how great it was, brought extra sauce for my date's pasta, and whoa... AMONG THE WORST WHEN SEATED COLD PIZZA BREAD WAS BROUGHT TO THE TABLE. THE WAITER REFUSED OUR REQUEST TO HEAT IT. MY WIFES PORK CHOPS WERE SWIMMING IN BALSAMIC VINEGAR. Best of Little Italy Being from Connecticut we don't get down to Mulberrry St. on a regular basis. However, when we do Il Cortile is the only restaurant we eat at. We leave up to the waiter to order our appetizers and we're never disappointed. The menu is a bit pricey but well worth it. After eating at Il Cortile the others are a far 2nd. Mixed Feelings it is interesting to see only one positive on Il Cortile. We dined there while on vacation last December. Although we found the food to be good and the service to be good, I do understand about the "reservation" issues and the wait. Not Worth it! There are so many great places in Little Italy, don't waste your time and money here. The food is good, but the waiters only seemed attentive to large groups. Bryan Miller - Do Something! On a night hot as the hinges on the back door of Hades, I took my husband and two children to Il Cortile. We waited 30 minutes to be seated, 40 minutes for water, bread, menus, 30 more for wine and soft drinks and when the food finally arrived an hour later, it was inedible, burned on top from sitting under a heat lamp.
