  12. Ridiculously Fun!!
Was not sure what to expect here, but must say that i have not laughed this hard in years.. and i laugh a lot! There were several short stand-up acts all of which were entertaining. Veronica Mosey, imparticular, was fabulous! She entertained the room from the moment she started to the second she ended, and left us wanting more. I can't wait to see her again. She was accompanied by Ross Bennet...

  13. Great place
If you are into big names, go here. I love stand up comedy, famous or not. This Comedy Cellar usually features a headliner. The trade off is the price. It is around 25 bucks per person with a two drink minimum. Depending on the show, it is usually packed. The seating is tight.

  15. Best place for comedy period
I love good comedy and there is no better place than the comedy cellar. Every time I'm in New York I go there. I've seen Jim Norton, Colin Quinn, Robert Kelley, Patrice O'Neal, Dov Davidoff, and Ben Bailey among others. I've never had a bad night there. You get to see a lot of comics working on new material. It's a great atmosphere and the upstairs is also a great place to hang.

  16. service was so so.. but the show was good....
I went to this comedy club for my friend's birthday. Cover $18 which is O k because the show was very good. I have been to a couple comedy clubs before and didn't really liked them but at Comedy Cellar people make fun of everything with respect. 17. Best Comedy Club
I've been to most of NYC's big comedy clubs but I like Comedy Cellar best. The room has a good feel to it and the comics always seem to live up to the intimate atmosphere that's created here. Service and drinks are well above average and they have top comedian all the time.

  18. Mean and Horrible Customer Service
As so many have already written, the door staff is incredibly rude and arrogant. I tried to go to the club (which I have been to a dozen times already) with a group of friends and was refused admittance even with a confirmed reservation. This is after spending a half hour on line in the freezing cold. Oh, did I mention it was my birthday? Yes, these door idiots ruined my birthday and they'll ...

Comedy Cellar is the best club comedy club in the city. First, their regular comedians are better than anyone else. Right now you can see Dave Attell, Godfrey, Greg Geraldo, Robert Kelly, etc- which are huge names in comparison and they are always trying out new material. There are also some not as famous names that are absolutely hysterical too. Ive never done a City Search review before, but...

I've been to the Comedy Cellar several times and have never been disappointed. You should definitely call to reserve your tickets and get in line early to ensure a good seat. 25. Bad Sense of Humor
I went to this club with some friends. We didn't have any trouble getting in or getting seats like others. The acts were hilarious and we really enjoyed it. Honestly, this is not worth it. The comics are overrated and the space is way too packed. The service is terrible. It takes over half an hour to get a drink and the waiters all have an attitude. Plus, you need to get there an hour early to get a decent seat. Definitely not recommended.

The comics were of varying quality; the ones at the beginning and towards the end were dull. 76. Don't bring a group here!
After being a regular visits to the comedy cellar, I decided to invite my wedding party here because I have always enjoyed this place so much. After being told that we could not make a reservation for 12 people, we attempted to make 2 separate reservations, and were called back and told that we could not make a reservation because groups "tend to be too drunk and loud to be in the audience" Thi...

  77. Horrendous Service!!!
Unless waiting 45 minutes to be waited on is acceptable to you, DO NOT go here thirsty or hungry. The service was so bad we did not have enough time or opportunities to spend the minimum $ requirement. Then when we got our last drinks at the end of the show, they kicked us out before we could finish them!! Go for the comedy, but have a few drinks BEFORE going in!

  78. Ruined our night
We took out some friends who had just been laid off from work and with a reservation waited on line for a half hour only to be told by the woman at the door that we "didn't have an index" card w/ our table seating... Everyone behind us did. Apparently they must have skipped us while on line but the woman would not belive us and told that we were lying. She argued, let us in last and we had the ...

  79. Good for laughs
My friends and I had a blast there. The comedians were HILARIOUS and the environment is pretty relaxed. Good for those nights you don't know what else to do.

  80. A great night out!
The Comedy Cellar always delivers! I have gone there many times and it is a surefire way to have a great night. At the last show I went to, 9 comedians perfroemd and the show went 3 1/2 hours long. Talk about getting your money's worth! The cover + two drink min. is comedy club standard, although visit their website to see how to get free admission on weekdays. The comics are consistently hi...

  81. This is NY Comedy!
The thing I like about the Comedy Cellar is that it doesn't particularly cater to the tourist, but is truly a local New York spot. While drinks are weak and getting a good seat is purely a roll of the dice, the comedy is raw, cutting edge, and hilarious. For $15 and a couple of drinks, this is good value and makes for a different sort of night out. While visiting from out of town, I would much ra...

  82. It beats going to a bar
I went here last night (Tuesday), and got to see Chris Rock perform!! The lesser known comedians were great too.

  83. live comedy can be harsh
the feel of the comedy cellar is intimate and energized for comedians' acts, and the two-drink minimum is enforced like clockwork by everyone who works at the place. definitely be forewarned that your sitting in front of the comedian can be your ticket to being the next topic of comedy- good or bad. friday's show is usually a better bet than monday's, actwise.

  85. Terrific Show
Went on a Thursday night and had never been there before. Was extremely happy with the very initmate set-up. The AC was on high so it was pretty cold but it was key since it's a smoking and non-smoking crowd. The line-up was great and all of the comedians were terrific. We went for the early show and ended up paying and staying for the late show. Great time!!

  86. funny, very funny
I'm not sure about rising stars, the only star I've seen come out of there is Godfrey, if you want to consider him a star. But regardless of whether you've heard of them or not the comedians who do perform there are a riot. I've been there at least a dozen times and they have never failed to make me cry of laughter.

  87. Shaking my head
Spectacular. Sharod was the MC. Seriously funny man. All the acts were great (except the poor man from some nickelodeon show who was a bit painful). His weak performance was nearly forgotten with the help of the rest of the comics. All very different, all really f-ckin funny. It felt like a movie being there- everywhere I turned everyone was just laughing and laughing. Hands down the best ...

  88. Seinfeld Takes This Stage
Some friends and I went to the Comedy Cellar on a tuesday a few weeks ago and had an amazing time. All the comics were hilarious and we were treated to three comedians in a row from Saturday Night Live...Darrell Hammond, Colin Quinn and Ellen Cleghorne! We went back this past friday to recreate the good time. I cannot begin to express our shock and delight when Jerry Seinfeld himself took the ...

  89. I'm still lauging the next day
Wow! I was way more impressed than I expected. I went to the late show (11:00 on a Thursday) and out of the 10 acts, 8 were hysterical (we'll let the other two slide...). I haven't had that much fun in a long time! And suprisingly, the drinks were even great. They have a 2-drink minimum, but both my pina colada and my 'peg 'o my heart' coffee were great! This night was the best deal I've fo...

  90. Simply: My Cheeks Hurt
I had the best time! It was only $10 and had the best comics I have ever seen. Our set had 6 comics and all but one where absolutely incredible. I highly recommend this place.

  91. quintessential NY comedy club
Right down to the exposed brick, this place is everything you'd expect from a comedy club in a West Village basement. The comics--like anywhere without a big-name headliner--are hit-or-miss, but come with an open mind. Plus, check out the bizarrely diverse collection of people this place attracts for an audience: Orthodox Jewish women in shetls, hoodie-clad hip-hoppers, confused Swedish tourists!...
