Boxing to the alter I started boxing at Kingsway five years ago. I participated in the group training that they offer at the gym. I was the only woman at the time of the day I went but the environment was more than comfortable. I ended up meeting my husband via training. I know that a gym is a great social setting to meet people and network but that was never my intention when I signed up. However, I must say that I... Read More On CitysearchCSMobileUser3 1/27/2010
Boxing Champ I started out at Kingsway doing group training. I originally joined in order to get a great fitness workout. As a woman, my initial intention was never to compete. However, being amongst so many amateur boxers encouraged me to take a shot. I competed in the Metros here in NYC, as well as in the Golden Gloves; winning both competitions. The training sessions that I endured at Kingsway not only kep... Read More On Citysearchboxing925 1/19/2010
Boxing fitness When I started with Kingsway, I was 100 lbs. heavier than my current weight. The workout regimine enabled me to physically transform from an overweight woman, to a toned and healthy one. Although I did not intend on becoming a boxer, the training did wonders for me. Not to mention that it also gave me a boost of confidence. The trainers there are extremely friendly, and are focused on helping you... Read More On CitysearchCSMobileUser4 1/14/2010
Clean I saw a comment that said Kingsway was dirty. I know for a fact that this isn't true because I have personally seen them clean twice a day. I work out in the morning, as well as in the evening, and I have witnessed them sweeping, mopping etc. The fact still remains that it is a gym, so logically it won't have the same appeal as a corporate office. However, even with that said, it is a pretty clea... Read More On CitysearchCSMobileUser2 1/13/2010
Very friendly gym In response to the comment stating that the employees at Kingsway don't smile and aren't sociable, I beg to differ. From the moment you enter the gym, the manager greets you with a warm welcoming. The atmosphere is very close knit which makes anyone feel comfortable. Right off the back you can tell that the workers are sincere with their relationship towards you. Even having taken off a few mont... Read More On CitysearchCSMobileUser 1/8/2010

feel like a boxer Kingsway is a genuine boxing gym with two raised boxing rings for sparring; heavy bags, speed bags and double end bags; treadmills; universal equipment and free weights. Trainees run the gamut from serious boxers to recreational boxers, and they come from all over the world and all walks of life. Since training there, I have met people from every continent (except Antarctica!), As a woman, I h... Read More On CitysearchMs Pie 10/7/2009

no i dont think so no no no this is not for boxers or anyone wanting to learn the sport. no clue where they found the trainers. seems like most of them has been fired from other gyms. the gym has a couple of treadmills, some basic weights which is good even though the treadmills are out of order most of the time. there are not too many places in the city where to box so if you really do not have any expectations ... I lost wait, lowered my cholesterol, learned how to box and met David Wright, Sugar Shane Mosely, and Miguel Cotto I joined Kingsway Gym in Fall 2006, and since then I've dropped 20 Lbs and learned how to box, spar, and have a better outlook on life. Gary Marder is my trainer, and with his help I've become a person who no longer needs cholesterol medication and I can eat whatever the hell I want because I burn it all off at the gym. If you want a reasonably priced way to actually lose weight and work with a p... Read More On CitysearchManbaby 10/31/2008
Bad trainer I have always been working out and wanted to try boxing. Signed up at Kingsway and was designated a trainer. Unfortunately he was more interested in making comments about my looks and my figure than actually train me. I complained to the management and asked if I could change trainer. I was told there is a surcharge of $ 20 per month to switch trainer. I was chocked to hear that I would have to b... Read More On Citysearchamberfit 10/23/2008
terrible experience I went to Kingsway to box, but surprisingly there are no trainers who really knows how to train someone with experience. I was treated like I had joined a boxercise class. The trainers are more interested in flirting with the girls than actually work with you, and if you ask them to help you out, they tell you to go and work the heavy bag. The locker rooms are filthy. . The shower has a urin sten... Read More On Citysearchtonyboxer 10/21/2008
Something for everyone While you won't mistake this gym for one that just opened, they have a good variety of functional equipment and a number of good sparring partners - including some elite fighters. As with any boxing gym, getting the right trainer is important. I worked with a variety of trainers before I started working with Gary and switching to Gary made all of the difference. He works 1 on 1 with each of hi... Read More On CitysearchElderlycripple 10/10/2008
I wouldnt go here again.. My friend and I went here. Only to feel a bit uncomfortable while a trainer was trying to pick topics and fights with us.He was wanting to challenge us after my friend had done a poor round of shadow boxing with him. The guy was just going non stop about how to work out..yet he helped us with no boxing? We are no longer going there. It seems very harsh and the owner doesnt seem to care at all ab... i love it It used to be really crowded but now it is really comfortable. Nice and available trainers for all levels, including Gary who also teaches kickboxing, which is rare in a boxing gym. There are 2 rings in there as well as weights, cardio machines and 10 heavy bags. The showers need improvement, and the owner is a little dry but a great place overall. Kingsway is THE place for boxing! I've been taking a number of boxing classes at my local gym but to take it to a new level, I decided to try out Kingsway. I was a bit intimidated at first, but the staff was amazing and made me feel comfortable right away. The trainers are amazing over here and they work you hard! But it's so much fun at the same time. Best Gym! Kingsway is the Best Gym I have been to. I have tried those big name gyms like Bally's and NYSC, and they dont compare. My trainer was Julio and he tought me how to be a good boxer and I lost some weight. Mostly we turned my body fat into muscle! So now I am toned. Mind you, it was very hard work, and deiting too, but nothing too crazy on the dieting. Just keeping a watchful eye on what I e... Read More On Citysearchscatone 9/29/2008
Follow your instincts on this one. With some competition experience under my belt, I went in there telling them that I was interested in fighting, but I ended up being treated like I wanted a Cardio Boxing workout. If Cardio Boxing is all that you want, you'll get it, but don't expect the trainers to teach you how to throw a jab or even footwork. My trainer didn't have me shadow box once (considered fundamental by most trainers)... Read More On Citysearch3447 9/12/2008
