best bob.... came to NYC looking for authentic, ethnic foods....
went to Kang Suh with my Korean girlfirend, she confirmed food was traditional and well done. I have eaten Korean food many times and found it to be one of the best Korean meals i have had. we sat downstairs, which has zero atmosphere, but for the price, it was perfect. Sushi was okay I went in for a pre-evening sushi meal at the lower level.. The chef and waitress were pleasant. There isnt an extensive sushi menu, but what I had was filling and tasty, it was an average spicy tuna and hamachi roll. I will go back to try the korean bbq upstairs. Service is important to me, so hopefully I will have a more pleasant experience than most reviewers. Read More On Citysearchb0ssladie 1/25/2009

Horrible Customer Service (but great authentic food) As a Korean American, I can honestly say that Kang Suh has some of the best traditional Korean dishes I have tasted. I can't wait until summer for their Mul naengmyon, and their Kalbee is great any time, among some of the other traditional stews. But I just can't put up with the service any longer! On a recent Friday night, we occupied the table for a mere 30 minutes before the waitress star... Read More On Citysearchbpark165 9/21/2008
Korean BBQ Smack dab in the middle of a district populated by a number of 24-hour Korean barbeuce joints, Kang Suh stands out. Some of my favorites are Yook Hwe, and the Soon-Dubu Jigae. Great Service and terrific prices. Read More On CitysearchCitysearch User 5/13/2008
Best Korean Barbeque in NYC You don't go to Kang Suh for the ambiance or for the service. Putting those things aside, this place has the best Korean bbq in the city. It gets very crowded in the evenings and they try to rush you out to turn over the table, but the food is great. The food is also relatively expensive. For those who have cars and are perhaps driving into the city from NJ or CT, the garage adjacent to the b... Read More On Citysearchhotdocnjc 4/23/2008
Awful food matched by awful service If you like bad food and service then this is the place. For the sake of the food it is spicy b/c it distracts from the fact that the food just ain't that good. And the service is just plain incompetent. Read More On Citysearcheddiex98 12/20/2007
Family night out After reading the review, I took my family out for a dinner at Kang Suh and loved it. We started off with Kalbi (Korean ribs) and Bul Go Gi (marinated beef). The server cooked the food in front of us on the tabletop grill. Our server recommeded that we try the Korean cold buckwheat noodles which went very well with our meal. I've tried the Japanese soba and Vietnamese Pho' but none of these c... Read More On Citysearchjustin1111 10/31/2007
my favorite korean BBQ place in the city service is fast, the place is clean, and the kal bi and gopbol bi bim bap is amazing. i think wonjo might be a little more flavorful with the burning wood chips (kang suh uses gas grills), but wonjo is dreadfully slow at times.
it's 24 hours, and it sure beats a diner when you're up late and crave something different. Read More On Citysearchandergtr 7/19/2007
Quite Impressive Its expensive but its very good. When its open for 24 hours in the lively K-Town area, this makes for a very pricey but good alternative to fast food, pizza, and typical diners. The service has always been very decent and the place is very well maintained. Read More On Citysearchb00pi3flak3s 10/1/2006
Highly Recommended for good reason! Korean home cooking 24/7 at it's best. If you've been out partying and have a yen for quality Korean food at 3:00am, there's a table waiting for you at Kang Suh Restaurant. The food is just as good at 2:00pm in the afternoon. It's not cheap, but it is very good and not exceptionally expensive. The staff is friendly and food or hot coals are delievered to your table quickly. I brought my mother ... Best Korean food rated by koreans They have the best and most authentic korean food PERIOD. The decor is normal but last time I checked, if you really appreciate food, you come for the food, not the decor, ambiance, foo and la la. Real koreans don't care about the 'environ' as long as the food is exceptional. Other Korean places try to make up for it with decor, catering to the americans, fusioning it up, etc, but if you want Kor... Read More On Citysearchalxsuh 5/11/2006
Best so far in Koreatown I've tried many of them several times each - Kum Gang San, Han Bat, Woo Chon, Woo Lae Oak, etc. etc. and tried Kang Suh for the first time last night. Kang Suh is by far the best BBQ and the pan chan are varied and fresh. It may be slightly more expensive than other K-town restaurants, but for the quality, this is my new favorite Korean place! The service is also very friendly, helpful and att... Read More On Citysearchturtleesq 2/9/2006
A++ Korean Food I came here with my boyfriend for new years eve dinner and was very skeptic of this place at first because it didn't seem to be very friendly. But the service was great and very friendly. The Korean food especially the BBQ was well worth it but I suggest sticking to the beef and pork. The chicken seems kind of bland to my taste buds. The staff was very helpful in the BBQ-ing process if this is yo... Read More On Citysearchpnkheartz4u 1/2/2006
Highly Recommended We went to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and needed a place to eat. We checked on Citysearch and found this restaurant. There were 13 of us, including 4 children under the age of 4. They put us in a private room. The service was fast, they were friendly and the food was delicious. If you come to NY and want Korean food, this is the place! Read More On Citysearchnrutig 11/27/2005
One of the best restaurants in K town The food at Kang Suh is good, go! I never complain of the food there unless to say I wish I could eat more. My group of 3 ordered a seafood soup, a beef dish, a shrimp dish, and wine. They were all very tasty and good sized portions. Although the price may be a couple of dollars more than the other restaurants in K town, I think this is one of the better ones and worth the little extra mone... Really Good Korean Food I have eaten at many Korean resturants in NY. This one has the best food. Generous portions, fair prices. The fried hot peppers are amazing (forgot the Korean name for this dish). So far, everything I've ordered has been excellent. Read More On Citysearchkentrosi 8/9/2005
Best Korean restaurant in K Town I've been coming to this restaurant since '97. I'm Korean and I am picky when it comes to Korean food. I have tried other restaurants in K town (Korea Town) in Manhattan, but I love Kang Suh, so I can say that at least I have tried other places and I can compare. I always bring non-Korean friends here who love the food and service. For large groups they have private rooms which is great. Pricewis... Read More On CitysearchChoquinga 4/18/2005
Really Satisfying This is my favorite Korean spot. I've been coming here for years and I have never been disappointed. Plus having a parking garage right there helps. Open 24 hours is also a plus. If you love Korean food or want to try it, check out Kang Suh. Read More On Citysearchdk5866 1/19/2005
meat!!! I'm usually too apathetic to fill these forms out. Even if I ABHOR a place, I'm not moved to leave an opinion. However, I am SHOCKED that I will only be the 2nd person to leave a review of Kang Suh!!! I've known about this place since I moved here my back in the 1900s ('97). Although it has that non-intimate diner feel to it, that's almost part of its appeal. I'm not Korean, (my best friend ... Read More On Citysearchcloverlily 7/26/2004
great bbq Seems like all the Korean BBQ around here is really expensive unless you hit Kum Gang San for the weekday lunch special. If I'm gonna pay this much for dinner though, I'll take Kang Suh over KGS. Kalbi was incredible, bulgogi nice, chap chae appetizer okay but nothing special. The first time I came here, the staff was kinda pushy to get our table when we finished (guess I can't blame them sinc... Read More On Citysearchjokah 1/9/2003
