They operate with donations and volunteers and do the best they can for the animals with what they have. Case in point: They have many rabbits, some of which have been with them for over a year. They pay the $300 - $400 fee to have a rabbit spayed or neutered when adopted, while only charging a $45 adoption fee. They selflessly absorb the huge cost. Please give pets at this shelter a chance.

Also @ Anna: last I checked they're a non-profit in need of some assistance, and not a business. They might not be the most tip-top shelter but they help animals as best as they can, with the resources they have. Your suggestion to go elsewhere is incredibly unhelpful. If you really have a problem why don't you donate some time or funds, or better, adopt an animal out of that situation?
We did...
@Anna Or you know, try to help them make it better or at least look there to see if there's an appropriate animal for you that you can thus get out of the horrible conditions.
It's a county-run shelter dearly in need of financial support and improvement--it's not like they're looking for your business to make a profit.
I would NEVER recommend this shelter to anyone. I can not believe the animals are allowed to live in these conditions. It is a tin trailer and feels like one inside to. The staff is rude and not willing to help. Go someplace else before you give them your business!!
This is an older, county run shelter. They have a new director who we hope will bring about lots of good improvements. The staff varies in knowledge. Aren't always careful who they adopt out to.
