We had brunch here on our girls weekend before we left town. It was a fantastic brunch, and a great way to end our weekend. This was recommended by the concierge at our hotel, and I was tickled he sent us over.
It is piles of food, not too expensive, and has some fun non-brunch style food mixed in with the regular brunch fare of potatoes and eggs. This is not where you go for your four-st...
I went to this Irish Pub because it has been one of Raleigh's favorite bars in the last couple of years. The beer selection was excellent and the service was not bad. The food was terrible though. I ordered a hamburger and it was by far, the worst hamburger that I have ever had. The quality of the beef patty was good maybe if it was dog food, actually, I would not even feed that to my dog. If you...
Two out of three orders were barely warm. Steaks ordered medium and medium well arrived dark red. When I asked the waitress to warm up my steak, she told me that if it were to be warmed, it would no longer be medium. What? I can cook a medium rare steak that is hot! She just didn't understand, continued to insist that my medium steak could not be warm. So, okay, I'll stay home and do it myself ne...
Annie Nice has to be one of the nicest Irish (Americans?) living in the Raleigh area. Her restaurant is like being home (in Ireland). The food, the entertainment, the atmosphere and even the patrons who frequent Tir na Nog are worth the trip. Thank you Annie, for bringing a little bit of Ireland to North Carolina!!!
We've been here quite a few times, but our last visit had us scratching our heads. We have always had great food and great experiences at TNN, but went there recently and thought maybe they changed ownership. We've always loved the 'hummus of the day', but now they only have one offering. After looking over the smaller menu, we ordered a Veggie burger with fries and were served a beef burger an...
You've gotta stop by Tir-Na-Nog for the Sun. brunch. It was great before. But the food has gotten even better. I'm told they have a new chef. There's always a new/different item on the spread(which keeps things fresh--both figuratively and literally). Try their lemon chicken; jambalaya; the chicken curry. Swing by to see what they have that week. It's a pretty good deal for AUCE at $11.95. And fo...
We went to the St Patrick's Day party at Tir Na nOg. It was more fun than when we went to Dublin last year. Amazing authentic Irish music, the atmosphere was wonderful, service was amazingly fast considering it was wall to wall people. The corn beer and cabbage was in the most divine sauce ever. I just love this place and will go back again for the parade party Saturday.
Best Irish music around. Love the ghosts of erin. A traditional band thats got it going on. Great bodhran, guitar, and vocals too. Keep them Coming!
Fine pints; but, the food is lacking. Service at the bar is good; but, can't say the same if you sit down for a meal. Bottom line: Come for the tunes and drinks and get your grub elsewhere.
While it can take a while to get your first beer at the Nog, the rest normally come in much faster, once you've established yourself with the bar staff. The Guinness is very much the wait, and I don't think I've ever had a bad pour there. They do the normal two part pour, yielding an excellent pint; utilizing a Nitro-gas mix.
On the food, the bangers and mash is always good.
The atmosphere ...
Tir Na Nog has the convivial atmosphere of a traditional Irish pub. The menu includes excellent corned beef, other tasy Irish items, and well-executed American selections. The beer selection is good too, with a regular rotation of locally brewed drafts. Friends and families go there to relax and have a good time. We go for drinks, dinner, and live music, particularly Irish traditional music. Tir ...
If you like Fish and Chips, you need to try this place! Its the best I've ever had! They have live music regulary, and a laid back atmosphere! A little hard to find in downtown Raleigh, but well worth it when you do.
Putting my feelings about this bar into words is almost impossible. I spent 4 great years in Raleigh attending North Carolina State University, and this was our pub of choice. I have visited Ireland, and no other Pub in the area makes you feel as if you stepped off of a Raleigh street and into Downtown Dublin. The food is FANTASTIC, and the beer selection is fit for a king. I moved from the a...
We recently held ur son's wedding rehearsal dinner at Tir na nog Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed the restaurant. The food was awesome, especially the "Cottage Pie". The other food selections were nice complements to the main dish. We liked having a private room and access to a Video player and a big screen. The tables were nicely decorated and I think everyone had a great tim...
I guess I'm kind of bias becaue I go there enough to be called a regular, but I am honest also. TNN is by far the most awsome Irish pub in the area, Not only is it a pub, but it is also the heart of the celtic community in the Triangle. They consitantly bring in traditional caltic entertainers and provide a meeting place for celtic culture enthusiasts.
As far as food, I thought it was great befo...
I am a regular at the pub. We where informed that there would be a new menu. I was looking forward ti it just for a change. BUT this is an outstanding change. Wonderful and I would expect to be paying top $$$ But the price is very reasonable . Keep on rocking Tir Na Nog. You just keep on getting better and better.
If you like Guiness this is the place. OUTSTANDING. The food was excellent too, which was a pleasent suprise. I ordered the corned beef and cabbage (of course!). They served a dish that looked nothing like the tradtional cbac. It was out of this world though. Really good!
I was highly impressed with the Irish food, but glad they had some more "American" dishes so I could go even w/ a picky eater! I haven't tried any of their beers yet, but they had a great selection, & there's always lots of entertainment. They even have a newsletter of "Irish" happenings in the Triangle. We arrived for an early supper, expecting the place to be empty, but there were a good number...
What a breath of fresh air, away from the hipster restaurants and college bars downtown is Tir Na Nog. Despite its open atmosphere, the friendly staff and ambiance make it a cozy experience. I love sitting at the bar on a Friday night, the bartenders and waitresses know their stuff and always make great suggestions for soemthing new to drink. The guiness wings are out of the world, smoky, sweet, ...
My wife and I visited Tir Na Nog a couple of weeks ago for a busy Friday night dinner. My waitress was wonderful and very welcoming. The food took FOREVER to come out and when it finally arrived our order wasn't quite right. I ordered a side salad with my beef wellington that never came out. My waitress did not bring out my food and I feel like she would have remembered the salad because she ...
We stopped into Tir Na Nog after church this past Sunday. I had been in a few months back.. I left full but not overly impressed. This visit changed my entire view. I am delighted to say all was changed and for for the better. A wonderful and very varied selection of hot savory dishes, Plus a suberb selection on the sweet tray. My waistline somewhat thicker on leaving I vowed to return and...
Went there and had the shepperd's pie. I was very disappointed. There was a hug pile of mashed potatoes (1.5 inches thick) on an extremely thin layer of meat (if it could even be considered a layer). The potatoes weren't even hot all the way through and neither was the meat. Neither of which tasted like anything special. Very bland. Not sure about the other dishes on the menu, but an irish ...
Congtrats to Annie and the staff for not only doing a 180 degree turnaround from where TNN was 3 years ago...but they have actually surpassed Tir Na Nog's "glory days" and made it even better than it was then...even my impossibly fussy teenagers had a great time!
On Saturday night we were treated to authentic Irish food, Irish entertainment and Irish hospitality. If you are looking for a sli...
We recently paid a visit to Tir na nog for the advertised lunch special. It was wonderful. It had been a while since I had fish and chips. The fish was crisp and just lovely. We plan to return to try the Sunday brunch. Staff was friendly and attentive.
Recently returned to Tir Na Nog to try the Sunday brunch. A wonderful selection of dishes. The curried meatballs were excellent and a nice change from the normal run of the mill brunch selections. my wife loved the chicken salad and we both had a tough time dragging ourselves away from the desert table. Fresh breads and fruit made the entire experience a winner.
If you have ever wondered what it would be like to visit a REAL Irish Pub then this is the place to go. The atmosphere, even on nights when it is very busy, is homey and friendly. The staff takes the time to answer any question you may have concerning the different entrees that they offer and make recommendations based on what you are in the mood for. There is an casual area set up on one side...
Nice to visit an Irish pub that sticks with the traditiitons of being Irish, background music and food all excellent. Staff were very friendly yet not at all pushy. We will go back again.
How wonderful to find this bit of Ireland in the City of Raleigh. We attended a friends exhibit on First Friday at a local art gallery. Afterwards we went to Tir Na Nog. The wonderful Irish band {Barrowburn} what a treat.
Irish dancers on the floor in front of the diners. having a wonderful time. The food was excellent . A lovely lovely evening. The service was fast and very pleasent. And now ...
What a wonderful weekend we had in Raleigh. All thanks to the great folk at Tir Na Nog . We did not get to see as much of the City as we had planned on our visit. On the Friday we arrived we were advised by the locals it was the place to be for good food and live music. Boy were they ever right on that score. Friday night Guinness toast was underway when we got there. And it was a riot. We return...
We are new to Raleigh. After our first visit the City Market area we popped into Tir Na Nog for lunch it was lovely. A very big Irish pub. We were seated promptly. The waiter was very attentive and the food was amazing for such a low price. I had a Gaelic burger that was just excellent and served with fries. all the lunch prices were under $8 so I was very impressed with the quality for the pri...
What a great Irish pub. We just returned home after a Christmas trip to Raleigh NC. And BAM there it was. We had to laugh as we had all wanted so much to go to Ireland this year for Christmas. The welcome was as warm as any we have ever got while in Ireland itself. Management knocks oneself out. Annie is the GM and she is from Armagh Ireland. She was so good and funny. She gave us great tips on ...
Happy Christmas to the best bar in NC. I ask Annie what she wanted for Christmas, she said write us a great review on City search. YOU got it babe. HEY it goes without saying you are the best bar. You have the best staff on the floor and behind the bar. And management well we love you all.You make us welcome and some places just don't like to see the Marines landing.!!!!!
Happy New Year and...
Just got back in from a great night at Tir Na Nog. I don't think it gets much better than this bar. A big slice of
Ireland right on our own doorstep. The Ghosts of Erin has got to be one of the best Irish bands in this OLE Triangle and that's a fact. Great beer lots of choices, but myself I never look beyond a good pint of Guinness
and Colin pulls a great pint. Thanks lads and I'll be back f...
We had our Christmas party at Tir Na Nog last week and it was a huge success. The cottage was set up so lovely complete with a Christmas tree and candles lit on each table. The food was fantastic everything we had ask for and more and it just kept on coming out of the kitchen. and the deserts were to die for. The wait staff and management were all fantastic very attentive and friendly. We could...
It was my birthday on Sunday 12/17 my wife and I attended church and onto Tir Na Nog for The Sunday brunch . The brunch was fantastic . The host informed us that a Celtic Christmas was planned for the afternoon and so we stayed. I just wanted to express our thanks to the owners and staff at Tir Na Nog. It was a great day with music which included a singer from Belfast. The new pipe and drum ...
We went to this place over the weekend, we thought we'd try it 1 more time, the last time we went the service was very slow and the food wasn't great.
This time it was the same thing, the service was extremely slow,we saw our waitress 2 times, once to take the order and once to bring the order,My husband's beef and beer pie was really bad, it had watery gravy with 2 pieces of fatty tough meat in...
My wife introduced me to Tir Na Nog a few years ago. Since then, we have been regular patrons. We have taken several guests from the UK and Ireland here, and they have nothing but praise for it. With the includung of more Scottish themed bands and programs, Tir Na Nog has become one of the premier Pubs in the US. The owners are doing a FANTASTIC job of promoting Scots-Irish Culture here in the Tr...
The Tir Na Nog is a great place to hang out with friends after work, or to party down on Thursday nights.
Went to the Kilt Night at Tir Na Nog last Thursday what a riot. A supercharged night very high energy all round. The staff including the owner all wore Kilts . Live music by Martin Furey and then the Scottish band Albannach just blew me away. the crowd was mad for them. After Albannach finished some pipers from Wake County pipes and drums showed up and a highland dancer who just happened to be i...
i went to tir na nog for lunch the other day and had a great meal for 7 bucks it was very unexpected i dont eat down town much but i have already been back twice once for dinner and had a wonderful time
Fun bar, but I would NOT suggest eating here. $11+ for an entree that had 4 pieces of meat, 6 carrots and about 10 cubes of potato! Took forever to get food and drinks, waiter never came back to check on us or bring our check (never even walked past for 1/2 hour!) Eat elsewhere then come for the beer and music.
Wow!!!!!
Came in on a Saturday nite just wandering downtown area. Ian McLagan of Small Faces was playing. What a treat....I've been few and far between impressed by such a entertainment lineup in the triangle. Happened to come in on a tuesday nite a few weeks ago and found the show playing this past weekend. Think Rod Stewart, minus the ticket price!!! Tuesday nite wasn't bad either.....gr...
This is the best Irish Pub in the area. Authentic irish music, great atmosphere and good food.
Caters to both young and old and the service was great. I will definitely return.
Tir na Nog my favorite downtown pub. I have been in NC almost a year. And this place feels like home the food is great. Fantastic selection of beers, and always something different on the music front.
We just got back from a trip to Ireland. And we miss it. Tir Na Nog is doing a great job at filling in the gap until our next trip back. Best spot in the Triangle for live Irish music. every weekend. and extra kudos on a great pint.
I heard about Tir na nOg on 100.7 the River talking about Local Beer Local Band Pint Night on Tuesdays and figured that I would give it a shot. First of all, that is a really cool idea! Each week they get a local band to play and feature a beer from North Carolina on draught for $2.50. If you are one of the first hundred in the door, after 7 I think, you get to keep the glass!! The inside of ...
I've eaten at Tir Na Nog twice. The first time, the service was slow and the food was average, but I liked the atmosphere and the music. So when my friends and I were planning to attend an IMAX movie across the street one night, we showed up to Tir Na Nog two hours before movietime so we would have plenty of time to kick back and relax with some Irish brew before heading over to the movie. Two ho...
I have been to many Irish Pubs in my life but few like this one. I visited Tir Na Nog this past Saturday and handleing the maddness with the downtown live concert looked to be a tough task. The tremendous croud brought a huge amount of people in but the bartenders and servers did an execellent job and were some of the most polite people I have ever met in a pub. Service and food was execellent, c...
Tuesday night - local band local brew --- best deal in town! Don't forget to ASK for your free glass because if you don't you probably won't be offered it. That's my biggest complaint about this place... service, or lackthereof. It seems like every time I have been there the server acts like it is a huge inconvenience to actually wait on you... and they aren't THAT busy on Tuesday nights. It's a ...
We loved the warm welcome. Great food. And th whole layout of this great Irish bar . And we will make a point of visiting it on a regular basis when we next return to Raleigh.
Well done. A real home from home feeling.
It is always a good time in Tir na Nog. The music gets better and the crowd are loving that, so the whole overall upbeat trend is making the MOOD in Tir na Nog infectious.
I find myself going back time and time again.
Food/Service and music all get a 10 out of 10 from me.
I am writing to defend my favorite Irish pub. Tir na nog. The best brunch in the City without a doubt. I do not know where that last reviewer ate, but I highly doubt he was in Tir na nog. for a start the brunch starts serving at 10.30 am until 2pm. I make a point of eating brunch there at least 3 times a month, and never once have I been disapointed nor been left to wait on refills. The service...
Tir Na Nog advertises brunch from 12noon - 2pm. We arrived and were seated promptly at 1pm. However, none of food was refiilled at the same time. There were at least 2-3 empty tray at any given time. The fruit was never refilled and the bacon only once. Our table had to share food because there wasn't enough on the buffet. At 2pm, my niece wanted dessert - only to find that it was gone and ...
I had my first Tir Na Nog experience tonight. Due to the battle of the bands. And what a venue. I had a great dinner Irish stew. a few pints of the black stuff. and the service was spot on. the bar it self is very cool. I could have spent all night just looking around. it was a cool venue for the River to have choosen for this event. I will go back for more good food. more cool music. And I'll lo...
Tir Na Nog is now my all time favorite bar. The new owners and staff are doing a bang up job. It has a differnet feel to it now. The welcome is warm and friendly always news to share. and the menu just gets beter and better. I recently had the chciken pot pie and it was perfect, a warm hearty dish with chicken and veg topped with puff pastry. The wine list was extensive. the service was super. my...
I was in Raleigh trying to decide IF I wanted to make this city my new home. I stayed at The Sheraton and they suggested I try Tir Na Nog. Well the warm welcome I got made me feel at home. They food was great. service excellent and so much information being handed out by the staff on where to shop, who to contact while looking for an apartment. They even offered to drive me to places if I was stu...
I loved this place. From the wonderful Irish band, to the delicious food, this casual Irish Pub is a great place to have a good meal and a few drinks with friends, and just let your hair down...
I had the Chicken Pot Pie with a delicious puff pastry. The flavor was wonderful, and the serving just the right size... I had a piece of Irish Soda bread on the side, but didn't care too much for i...
The Food is surprisingly very good. Great atmosphere, great service..........highly recommended.
This was the first restaurant my husband and I ever visited after moving to Raleigh 5 years ago. My oldest child's first solid food was the Irish stew here. It has changed owners since then, and is even better. This is more than a restaurant to us, it's like another member of our family. Love the staff, love the new owners, love the live Irish music (on certain days/nights - sometimes there's eve...
all is outstanding at this incredible irish pub! my friends and i had the most wonderful time. super food and incredible atmosphere. i will go again and again each time i'm in Raleigh.
My friend and myself went down for the first time planning on having a quiet drink and a easy night.......Guess again
Special thanks to Pete....
David from CI Brugge
Best Irish food in Raleigh, entertainment is great. Bar is beautiful.
Since the new owners arrived, the overall food and "Irishness" have improved, but little else has. Some specials (pint nite and whiskey nite) are good ideas, but obscure sports on every TV and Irish radio on the house system? C'mon. The place is just too big to have a real pub feel and they keep trying to force it. They weakened the Sunday brunch by getting rid of the music guy and changing the...
If youre looking for something special, this place definitely has it all. Great music, best beers (and correctly served), tasty food, cool atmosphere, and above all GREAT PEOPLE. Two thumbs up, way up!
I stumbled upon this great pub accidentily while in search of a new place to visit frequently, and boy I found it. What an amazing place. Since then, Ive been back so many times. For wonderful food, an amazing selection of awesome beers, great service all while feeling you never left your living room, this is the place for you. I recomend this place of eternal youth and happiness to all my lo...
As soon as i walked in i knew that this pub was going to became one of my favorites spots. It has everything: great atmosphere, good service, delicious food and a wide range of drinks and beers!!. You need to see it!
Everything I've tried at Tir Na Nog has been EXCELLENT! The new owners have done an outstanding job with the food, service, and atmosphere! Definitely a 10 in my book!
I love going to Tir Na Nog when I'm in Raleigh, it is a must! The food is great, service is great, music is great, and of course the drinks are great! It is by far the best place in Raleigh, I recommend it to all of my friends!!!
If you want to smell like cigarette smoke this is the place to go. I thought I would try this pub. I like beer on tap and pub type food. We asked for a non-smoking table. They said the entire restaurant is non-smoking except for the bar. Well guess where the bar is??? In the middle of the restaurant and it is a huge bar at that! There is probably as much bar area as there is table space. ...
great beer, food, staff, and atmosphere equal a great bar!
My expectations were over-whelmed by the excellent Irish food and atmosphere. Choice of beverages is outstanding. Service is exceptional. A place I plan to frequently visit on my way home after work, and on weekends. The atmosphere is very pleasant, unusually inviting. My favorite is the irish cottage room...great for special gatherings. Good work staff!!!!
Loved the food, atmosphere, and the selection of whiskey and beer!!!! Couldn't make me happier.... People were extremely friendly, staff and customers!!! Loved the fish and chips!!!!
Absolutely lovely! The bar staff were great and the food was out of this world!! I have found my favourite hangout!
Great atmosphere, fabulous staff, food is terrific. Love the huge variety of beers too! My favorite new spot!
We had our first experience with Tir Na Nog and we've definitely found a favorite! The appetizer platter was awesome. You must try the crab dip, chicken wings and beef tenderloin. The meal was absolutely delicious. The waiter was attentive and courteous. We even spoke to the owner and chef to give them our compliments!
