What elegance! One of the better hotels to stay in the Minneapolis area. I come up this way often for conventions and I always consider myself lucky when I an able to get reservations at Sofitel. Their suites are the finest of most hotels.
The price can really fluctuate here so make sure you find a deal - sometimes under $100 / night. The rooms are magnificent. My favorite features are the luxury bathrooms and 4 seasons european beds. They also have a work desk that requires a $10 / night high speed internet. The food is overpriced at the restaurant, but the bar can be nice place to relax late at night.
Reservations went fine - booked for New Year's Eve arrived around 6 or 7pm - fantastic location. Valet was too busy talking amongst themselves to realize me sitting there for at least 5 minutes - eventually opted to park in the parking lot. Lazy service compared to more refined places like The Marquette. Ordered a coke when we first got there, waited 25 minutes before we left for dinner - of c...
We stayed at the Sofitel last year during a convention. I was able to get a deal on the rooms, and that's really the only thing that made it worth staying there. The service was really not very good. We did have dinner at La Fougasse one evening, and the food and service there were excellent.
My wife and I have stayed at the wonderful place for many years. It is still an occasion to do so. Only one time when we checked in were we given an inadequate room (very small). As soon as I complained we were moved. Everyone is always very accomodating and welcoming. For us a wonderful weekend trip.
The room service was exceptional. My wife & I travel the midwest frequently & this is the first hotel we've stayed in that had REAL room service. From the late night snack to breakfast it was very impressive.
Staying at the Sofitel Minneapolis was the best ever. Comfy beds, great service by friendly staff. Spacious rooms with a home away from home feeling. Dinning in the resturants was great. I believe that La Fougasse is a great addition and Chez Colette is as always the great food and service I expect.
Chez Collette never disappoints. Try a basket of fresh-baked croissants for a Paris-experience breakfast, a bowl of onion soup and baguette for lunch, or steak and fries for a bistro dinner. And don't forget to stop by the bake-shop.
The weekend specials, particularly Bastille Day and New Year's Eve, are a fantastic value.
