I go there every time I am in downtown. Great pizza, convenient location, friendly staff. What more could you ask for?
We have eaten several times at this location with no problems what so ever. Recently they started delivering to my area, and let me tell you we have ordered 5 times already in the last month! All of the deliveries we've had have been awesome, food hot & delicious...If they deliver to your area I don't know why you would ever go with anyone else.
I feel sorry for all the people who say Pizza Luce is the best pizza they have ever eaten. The only thing the place has going for it is that everyone thinks it is cool to eat there, otherwise it would be out of business.
Mixup my order, The manager made me look bad, never got my pizza... It was my first and last time there...
I don't recomend this place ...
I ordered for delivery at 1:20 am to my apartment, at 2:30am I called back to 612-333-7359 to inquire on my order....without any hesitation, the man who answered put me on hold and another man picked up and told me "Don't EVER order from us again, I f@cken hate you"...."I will never deliver to you again"! and yada, yada, yada....I just sat there with the (my cell phone) on my ear and tried to int...
This place if pretty urban, if you will. Think lot's of urban people and not the good kind. Additionally, I find this pie over rated and expensive. I like that they have the quick serve/by the slice area. It's great for the afterbar. Bring cash bc you have to buy a ticket from security. If you have a credit card, they give attitude. Service is EXTREMELY random. Some employees are fantastic and so...
Living on a diet consisting 3/4 of pizza, I declare Pizza Luce to be the 'comfort food' of pizzas. Warm and filling with a variety of toppings to suit your craving, even mashed potato. They even come in pretty boxes.
My boss's husband brought us some of this pizza when we were in town for a convention, and I have to get it every time I'm there. I must say I've never actually gone to the restaurant - I always have it delivered to the hotel. So I can only speak for the taste!
Over 50 toppings (we counted), hand tossed dough and a great beer selection. We came down on an early Sunday and to our amazement they even do BRUNCH! It was awesome, try the Portobella Benedict. Anyone who doesn't like Pizza Luce is anti good food.
Why would you watse your time at a pizza joint like this when there are so many other options in the Cities?
Luce is the filet mingon of all pizza restaurants. I have been a fan of the locally owned restaurant for years and have yet to have one bad thing to say. The pizza and appetizers are great along with a really good wine list. Very resonabley priced and fun atmosphere...
...lets not forget the year ..2008..., folks with tattoos and unique style can be VERY successful and most importantly happy!!...
The tons of hype is one thing this place does not live up to.
I've tried this place a number of times and I just don't see it. The pizza base is where the problems begin for me, and the toppings do it no favours either. Flavourless... If you want pizza in this town go to the Monte Carlo and have their flatbread appetizer pizza.
RE: Delivery - I ended up with cold soggy undercooked pizza dough with cold veggies and meat toppings. Gross! I had to recook the pizza every time before my family could eat it. I even tried to order "thin" crust. Instead I got thick crust not fully cooked throughout the pizza. The chicken wings have been under cooked, whereas the meat does not come away from the bone. Had to recook also. Serious...
This place can be really crowded some nights, and tends not to be worth the wait. The pizza is nothing special, and neither are the other dishes they have. A better place to order in from.
I was trapped at a hotel downtown (I won't mention any names, but it rhymes with um... Barriott?), and they had stopped serving their in-room menu early (why, I don't know).... anyhow, the desk clerk recommended this place, and the pizza was very good. I had the "Luce", which had good flavor. Didn't particularly care for the crust, but the wife did, so maybe I'm just picky. If you have the cho...
The pizza is very tasty, but on 2 different occasions, we sat for 15 minutes while being completely ignored before we just got up and left. Nobody made eye contact, nobody said "I'll be right with you, or anything." In fact, the last time (which is coincidentally the last time), the hostess even came by to pick up our menus and we hadn't even gotten a drink yet. I would have been able to let i...
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Pizza Luce. However...I just want to vent about it for one second. I always order the same pizza: Bianca with sun dried tomatoes and chicken - very light on the cheese and you can let the sun dried tomatoes burn a bit on the top.
(Yes, I am that annoying person!) So I always take a moment to explain how I like it...and the Luce in Uptown has no problem fulfilling my order every...
The pizza's so-so. Lame crust, unexciting sauce, but with a wide variety of toppings. Vegan/vegetarian options are a plus. The artichoke dip and desserts are great. The problem is the service. It's barely OK at their downtown and Franklin Ave locations, but the Uptown restaurant's service is consistantly terrible; orders made wrong, rude and absent servers. Truely awful.
I will highly recommend this place to EVERYBODY! If you're a meat eater, I suggest the Bear Pizza. It has 5 or 6 different kinds of meat and tastes soooooooooo yummy!
There is such a variety on the menu....for a variety of people and you can't go wrong with any of it. I don't, however, suggest you request extra feta cheese on the pizza Athena--my boyfriend and I learned our lesson. :-)
We never tire of eating here. The downtown location has a great atmosphere and is great for people watching. The spinach artichoke dip is the best anywhere, and the Athena pizza rocks. Be sure to stop by for happy hour when drinks are 1/2 off.
I go to this place quite often and this is the best pizza I have ever eaten.. They have so many varieties. They serve by the slices and it is inexpensive, good quality and very very tasty! Too bad that there isn't a store in saint paul, which is where I live, but I just found out today that they are opening up a store in saint paul on Dec 27 2006.. Yay!!!
ON weekends, this place is packed and is more of an adult place to meet people or hangout. But on Weekdays, its a nice family place to get some food. There are dozens of ingredients for your own personalized pizza, or you can order sandwiches and other menu items. Thisis a greatplace for everyone to go
PROS: Happy hour
CONS: none
A good tasting pie with excellent sauce. Outside crust is very below average. Plus, underneath the cheese and toppings, the crust is, more often than not, way undercooked. Spendy also. Even so, the cold pasta tuna salad is great. Jalapeno adds a little heat.
Awesome for late night food! Well, sort of. Careful!
I always found the pizza here above average, but if you've never had the artichoke dip, it's superb.
had their pizza 3 times- will never again
the crust was always soggy
Of all the pizza restaurants in Minneapolis Pizza Luce is by far the best. The wide assortment of ingredients to choose from gaurantee you will have a memorable Pizza. I reccomend the White Pizza with spinach, red onions, roasted garlic. The Pizza Luce Staff definately put the punk in the Minneapolis Pizza scene and this is a great & inexpensive meal.
Whenever pizza comes to over mind we get stuck to one of the chain restaurants but if you are really bored with these chains. Then give a try to Pizza Luce. They have got really delicious pizza. I liked everything in their restaurant like pizza, sandwiches etc. Their topping are really good and fresh. I am sure you will be very satisfied while leaving this restaurant. Prize is quite reasonable.
...
Great food and happy hour. Went prior to a Wolves game and the bill was much less than expected
The crust here is disgusting. Conveyer-belt crust that is soggy and undercooked. The toppings arent that great either. They used to hand chop fresh ingredients & they dont anymore. There isnt one shining entree on the entire menu. The crowd gets tiring too, since at least half of them are either current or former employees of Luce. And what is with the punk/skate look that is (still!) domina...
Great food, good service, and a excellent beer selection for a restaurant. Would recommend for people of all ages. Traveling, going to a ball game or a show, or just downtown They almost always can sqeeze you in somewhere even if they are real busy they do there best to accomidate. Take everyone you know there they are bound to find something they like.
I've eaten their food before, but this was the first time in the restaurant, and it was GREAT! I'm a vegetarian, and they are really accomidating, the ffod rocked, great music, great service, KILLER tap beer selection, cool bartenders, and everyone got fed for pretty cheap too.
I've eaten a pizza couple of times at Pizza Luce and I thought it was always above the average, but I ordered takeout once and the pizza was terrible. It tasted worse than pizza hut. Im not going to eat there any time soon.
When my sons, one from Portland, Oregon, and the other from Chicago, Illinois, visit Minneapolis, Pizza Luce is always on their list! We rate it the best pizza - from the East Coast to the West Coast!
Pizza Luce does! It is fabulous, fun and unique. Ideal for after work happy hour, meals with friends or late night snacks. Interesting, eclectic atmosphere where the CEO of a Fortune 500 company can be seen next to members of Wookie Foot. And hands down the best tasting and most inventive pizza in the Twin Cities and the midwest. A++++
Pizza Luce is many things; they are cool, a fun place to hang out and have beers, great pizza, interesting waitstaff, but above all they are about choice. With over fifty toppings they have something for everybody.
Sorry! I am not at all enamored with Pizza Luce. It's really nothing special. The sauce is uninteresting, and the overall flavor is blah. I think the Savoy and Cossetta's is far superior.
i watched pizza luce go from a lil hole in the wall pizza by the slice that got the biz for the amazing pizza and the fact that they stayed oen til 3am. i've been going to Pizza Luce since i was 17 i take everyone there
The food we get from there never tastes same, even though we order the same thing every time. So sometimes its good, sometimes it's not. It's way overpriced too.
By far the best pizza in town - no heartburn added. And the greatest variety of "veggie" pizzas around.
I like going to Pizza Luce, as it's fun, they have a good selection of beer, and I like the freeky-looking staff. The prices are pretty standard, and so is the pizza. I've had pizza several times and sandwiches several times. I would never call it "great". Usually the crust/bread is on the dry side and the pizza toppings are boring. I'm not an expert, but I could list 10 pizza places that hav...
I used to go to Minniapp on business. Every trip there I looked forward to going to pizza Luce. GREAT PIE.
I travel alot and the first thing I do when I check in is ask what is the best Pizza in the area. I found Pizza Luce to be one of the very best anywhere.
kb Metro Detroit
Unfortunately there aren't more late night dining options in the Cities. I've only been once- and won't go back. Granted it was bar-rush time, but I would have expected alot better everything from the place I always hear so much about. The place was packed- elbow to elbow. I felt like I was on a crowded dance floor at The Lone Tree in Mpls. The place was too smokey for me (and I'm a smoker!)...
too doughy. skimpy on sauce and toppings. and way overpriced.
First of all, the food is amazing! Appetizers are brilliant and the salad is the best I've EVER had. They have unique pizza combos and a good selection of other main entrees. The menu also has a good selection of meat-free choices. I have 2 complaints... 1. the wait staff are Punk Rockers, which is fine, but they are pretentious snobs with a "better than you" attitude... 2. both are incredibly l...
Maybe I just don't get it. While Pizza Luce has a few great menu items (I love their focaccia katerina with goat cheese), their pizza is not one of them. It's edible, but sub-par. Reminds me of the old joke, "Sex is like pizza. Even when it's bad, it's still pretty good." Good for a pizza run after midnight, but otherwise there's far better pizza to be had in Minneapolis.
pizza great - wings, salads, sandwiches- the best. Is the freak look really that important to the servers anymore? Lets move on in life (grow up, everybody has done that look already)
It was nice. Great meal, great dessert. Excellent service. It has its own parking, but it could easily get too crowded in the lot and the restaurant.
MMMMMMM.... Tattooed girls and pizza. Am i dreaming? Oh and beer too MMMMMMMMM.
Wow, why all the good reviews? This place's pizza is horrible. I had to take off every single item to eat the crust, which still tasted awful. Maybe I just had an unlucky encounter? I'm pretty sure it's always the same.
This restaurant has some of the tastiest foods and great (hot) wait staff. The customers along with the staff are very diverse. It's a great place to head to on a friday night...but you may want to go a bit early to ensure a table.
I think this is the BEST pizza place in MN!!! It's soooo good, that if you haven't tried it, you haven't lived. Think of it as Ambrosia :-P And the service is way way cool
This place has great ads, but by far surrly waiters, poor service, unclean tableware and unimaginative pizza combos made me take a second guess on the namesake. Skip anything with green olives or spiced sausage
i loved going to pizza luce after a good night of drinking and dancing!
If only I didn't live 40 miles from this place!! I would eat there on a constant basis if given the chance.
Okay, yes, this place has a little "hipper than thou" attitude. But, so what? It's not insufferable and I kind of like that. They've got a pretty good caesar salad and wonderful pizza. The crust is a perfect compromise between "not too thick" and "not too thin." I had a barbeque chicken pizza and it was great.
My one quibble . . . I had a Kettle One martini that was drenched with vermouth...
this is the place! They offer many assorted not so run-of-the-mill toppings, I can't get enough! Great casual atmosphere!
Odd toppings, a "build-you're-own-pizza" lovers dream! + they deliver. Being from NYC I'd say this is one of the finest pizza joints West of the Hudson.
Clearly the best pizza in the Twin Cities. And they are now open in Duluth for you weekenders that head up north.
I love this place, and couldn't be happier with the food. The lines are long, but it is the only place I can think of you can eat great pizza after the bars close downtown!
Open til 3:00am on Friday and Saturday!!!
Food is very good and affordable the beer selection is one of the best in the Twin Cities. The Shrimp Pesto is my favorite pizza ever and the greek salad rules. The downtown location is far better than the uptown location in both quality and service.
The best sandwiches, Spicy Mock Sausage, Chick-less Dijon, Chick-less Parmigiana.
great food. friendly service, great value. they deliver or you can eat in.
Great pizza, decent prices. Some employees have been rude, but most are usually polite. Not somewhere I would seek out exclusively--knowing that the closest parking lot is $10-15.00--but a good place to stop for some pizza if your in the area.
YOU CAN ALWAYS FIND A GOOD SLICE HERE. ESPECIALLY AFTER YOU LEAVE THE URBAN.
Its the best after bar decision you can make when you are downtown.
They have the best pizza in town i know so because i have had it all.
This place has the best pizza, and I'm not talking about plain old pepperoni pizza. The potato pizza is my favorite... but I just love the great combinations!
When I moved to the Twin Cities two years ago, I tried every pizza place that would deliver in the Uptown area. No one even came close to Piza Luce! They are polite on the phone, give no hassle over checks, always get special orders correct, and definitely have the yummiest crust of any pizza I have ever eaten. I have tried almost all of their pizzas, including vegan and vegetarian, and have yet ...
This is the best pizza besides the joint in Ashland WI.
The pizza is great and the topping choices are the best in the Twin Cities. Mix and match as Pizza Luce will let you choose. They deliver to downtown businesses and have always been on time and with hot pizza.
although the variety of toppings is great, the food just does not compare...maybe people go for the "experience", but i think this place is over-rated
I guess it all comes down to what an individual is in to, tastewise. For my money, Pizza Luce is the best pizza you're going to get outside of Chicago and New York. Not to mention everything else they make! The Minneapolitan wings are perfect. Sandwiches, salads, (drool) gaaaahhhh!!!!!!!! I MUST HAVE SOME NOW!!!!!!!!!! Which reminds me, if you're going to pick it up, bring a friend who can either...
Though not everything has been perfect when I have eaten here. The management are more then willing to turn your experience around. The wide variety of food for this pizza place will satisfy everyone.
I have probably eaten at Luce 1000 times, usually on my lunch (5pm) and sometimes post bar. The service is junk, yes, but this is a pizza place. I come for the pizza. I like garlic and cheese and get it. Honestly, avoid the dining room, get a slice and take a walk.
Great ingredients, fast service, convenient location, you can't find better pizza in downtown. Period.
