The food was good BUT..... The food was very, very good but you couldn't hear the person talking right across the table from you. Everyone in our party complained about the same thing. They need to do something to reduce the decible level otherwise, as good as the food was, many of us wouldn;t think of going back. My ears are still ringing. Read More On CitysearchJanModz 2/23/2010
Outstanding Italian Giovanni's is a Detroit institution. And, in a neat switch, they manage to hold to their own high standards. Through fires, economic downturns, and suburban flight, Giovanni's has continued to turn out consistently high-quality Italian food. The food is great, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the owner's commitment is evident. Go. Eat. Enjoy.

Great Food - Great Night The food was fantastic, I had the Prociuto Pizza which was amazing, my friend had the Pecorino pizza, which was also great. Both were wonderful, great thin crusts, bursting with flavors from the fresh and abundant ingredients. The salads are simply dressed with lemon juice, olive oil, sea salt and pepper- but for once, you can actually taste the quality ingredients, not just the salad dressing. T... OH MY GOD!!!!!! When I think of the very very very best restaurant in Michigan, inevitably, I think of Giovanni's. Everything, from the service to the bread to the salads are to die for. I get a Chicken dish with a creamy rosemary mushroom sauce that is so good my mouth waters just thinking about it. And their pasta (homemade and soooo tender) is like nothing else I have every had. A little bit of Italy My wife and I dine there quite often. The food is exceptional and the atmoshpere is awesome. The owners go out of their way to ensure that every guest's experience is something to remember. My wife even had her wedding shower in the wine room, and said it was the absolute most memorable experience. The food, the enviroment and the staff make this our favorite place to dine. Great Place for a first class meal This is one of the great Italian resturants.
It is located in an industrial area, and does not look like much from the outside. Inside, it is incredible.
It has the atmosphere that makes you think Joe Pescei and Ray Liotta are in the back room "You think I'm funny?"
It is definitly the place to go for that upscale evening.
On the down side, the prices are on the high side. I can... Read More On Citysearchdeadeye 1/8/2005

Good Pasta Food was good but not quite up to expectations. I had heard a lot about this place but found it just O.K. The pasta was pretty good. More expensive than I expected. stop by the ATM before you get there! My wife and I went to Giovanni's to celebrate our anniversary of 12 years. We had heard very good things about it and decided to give it a try. The ghost of old blue eyes The story persists that this was the stomping grounds of Frank and his entourage while passing through D-town. Yum yum! The atmosphere was very romantic and the food was awesome - best Italian I've ever had!! The owner of the resaurant came out and chatted with each of the guests. We were kinda in a hurry and that made things a bit difficult (waitress was annoyed). It probably would've taken 2 hours to go thru all of the courses, but we kinda rushed through in 1 and a half. Will definitely go back! Read More On CitysearchSams 8/1/2002
