The atmosphere is fine at Soldiers and the beers are cold with a decent selection for most patrons. However, I have given this place two opportunities to wow me with thier food and I have been dissapointed both times. Today I ordered a burger and the bartender - who was more interested in setting up her new iphone than serving - did not ask me how I wanted it cooked and when I received the sand...
I love Soldier McGee! I've been there several times and have always left wanting more. It's a great place to watch a game. It's clean and I love the open space. The jukebox is awesome and there is always a great crowd. Try the macaroni and cheese wedges they're a perfect pair to the icy cold draft beer. I don't often find myself on the UWS but when I do McGee is the place I go.
Can't say enough about this place. Was there for two different games so far this year. Awesome draft system and some very hot bartenders. Was there with a lot of people and the staff was really nice. Many HD screens, so was able to watch every game. Good crowd. I will definitely be back. Cool jukebox.
im huge, im bald, and im angry.......i love good food--fast women--and open toed shoes. bottom line....this place is ok. the next time i come in and see dave and billy talking about everybody in the corner im going to smash the both of them... beer is cold which is all that counts....
I work with grassi and everybody loves me...i just dont get it. i saw that humongous basketball player bonk his head on the support beam i hope he is ok.
The draft kool-aid is SO tasty. I drink it, i chug it, i love it. Highly recommended. I also love the owner, he's just so smart, cool, funny, cute, beautiful ..... he rules!
if you have to have a cold beer someplace other than bensonhurst...this is the place to do it....food is better than ok but ill tell you something....they have a sfogliatelle that melts in your mouth...and the espresso with a twist of lime is something that would make you cry about....like listening to pavarotti on a warm spring evening.....what a beatufigul life!!
I can't begin to describe how bad this place is. My boyfriend took me there over the summer to watch a game and I hated it. I think Jimmy254 said it best. Besides the update in decor, this is one of the worst additions to the Upper West Side over the past 2 years. I met a guy there who claimed to be part-owner. He seemed like a nice guy at first, but he proceeded to talk about himself for th...
my girls and i come out from Long Island specifally for the bucket 'o' wings.....and the ladies night drinks....and the scene....not exactly SHISHI but your last reviewer is right....the boys are dreamy.
my buddy brad and I allwasy like to come to this place after work and throw a couple back before we go back to our real lives....its such a cool place...."where everybody knows your name" comes to mind....the owners are so personable and never hesitate to buy one back for a custie. bottom line you HAVE to come here.
im telling you... bathrooms and gel are what im all about....the beer is ice cold too at this place...it seems like they clean this john like every 10 minutes....billy is right...the brothers that own this place run a class act....i run the ny eskimo/american club and we have our meetings here like every tuesday and stuff....
there are beatiful people everywhere....the owners ARE good looking....very good scene- - the drinks are HUGE and there are flatscreens everywhere., nice job guys, cant wait to come have some calamari with you again.
As an UWS resident, maybe one of the worst places I've been to in the neighborhood. The new owners cleaned the place up nice and poured a lot of money into the decor, but there was absolutely no atmosphere and the patrons were miserable. I went w/ a friend recently to watch a game, expecting a laid-back sports bar with good eats, cold beer, and a friendly crowd. Instead, we were introduced to...
but the veggie plate is awesome....i love the place...overall the clientele is ok but like i said...i need to see more JOE PA...that dude rocks.
i also think that the place is pretty cool...billy and i go there all the time and talk about everybody....i dont drink beer but the wine list is topshelf...no franzia here boys and girls...
this is one of my favorite bars in my neighborhood. i moved here a few months back i looked to citysearch to guide me towards a good beer and good food. so thats how i found Soldier McGee! its my kind of place, not pretentious, just fun.. a great relaxed atmosphere and a great time all around. the bartenders are really chill and i bring anyone who visits me in to see my "cheers" of nyc.
I just love this place! The bartenders' are friendly, courteous and plenty efficient when it comes to getting what you want. I would recommend this place to everyone for any day out of the week! You'll enjoy great music whether you like old school or new school-you can find just about everything in their jukebox. They also have great food!!! Please see what everyone's talking about - GOOD TI...
This bar has changed ownership a couple times in the last few years, and this is probably the worst amalgamation yet. But if you ever get drinks there, just put them on The Donnely Tab. They'll know what you mean.
