This place has really gone downhill. I went a few years ago on a date and it was lovely... bistro like ambiance, a bit overpriced but overall a good experience.
Went a few nights ago. Service was probably the worst I've experienced in Atlanta, and I live in L5P (that's saying something). Staff knew NOTHING about the wines, foods, or anything else, and overall seemed clueless and pretentious.....
I think the chocolate bar is a great experience. What gets me the most is their martinis-hands down some of the best I've ever had. The mix drink list is amazing-I've tried a good variety of them and I haven't been disappointed yet. The drinks are mid-high price but worth every cent!
The desserts and drinks are excellent. The wine selection is good but a little overpriced. Some people might be put off by the small portions but it totally works for me.
We went here several times when it first opened. The desserts are good but seem to actually have lost some of their inventiveness over time. They also narrowed the menu which I didn't care for. The cocktails are good.
I went here a lot when it first opened, but I've lost interest. It is unique and the food is pretty good, but the price isn't worth it after a while.
We went there with my mom for an after dinner dessert for her birthday. We stood around waiting for someone to seat us and finally just sat ourselves. My mom had the Mexican coffee which was delicious...everything after that was a disappointment. We ordered the brownie but didn't realize it had beer ice cream on it. We told the waiter we didn't like it at all and he just laughed and walked away. ...
we went here one time, and then i was amazed that there's a place like this. i like their cookies and their chocolate stuffs.. wheeeeehew...
yes, real big restaurant.. very insteresting place, good for chocolate lovers... whahahaha, i want to go here...
Nice people hanging out in a relaxed mode so you never feel stressed or irritated. Just enter, and feel very comfortable.
overall great the food was fantastic. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is after some tasty treats...
I was very excited to try out the Chocolate Bar. Unfortunately, the food was strange and overpriced. There is a teeny, tiny menu, including a few savory snacks, then a few ?inventive? yet overpriced desserts. $9 to 10 for a dessert is way too much money. The sausage was extremely dry and as salty as a salt lick. Several people had a bite and were grossed out. A one inch square piece of chocol...
You won't find anything like the Chocolate Bar. They offer a variety of wonderful desserts that can be paired with their extensive wine collection. It's a great spot to go to after a play, movie or concert. Or you could just skip dinner all together and go.
My boyfriend and I went here to end our anniversary date night out. It was on a Monday night so there weren't a lot of people there which was perfect for us. The waiter was really nice, knowledgable, and quick. I had the pumpkin pie martini and he had the chocolate bar martini. Both martinis were great-nice blend of alcohol and flavor. He had the Oreo bar dessert and I think I had some fruity des...
I absolutely love Chocolate Bar! It's the chocolate lover's delight! Absolutely best chocolate martini I've ever had. The service at the bar has always been exceptional. And they have a 73 (?) single year port that is to die for!
The name alone should be enough to attract most chocolate fanatics, but this place lives up to its name. There is chocolate galore, but also enough non-chocolate items that you won't feel completely sick (unless you want to).
After hearing so many great things about this place, I was thoroughly disappointed with my first visit. Definitely not worth the hype the local papers have been giving it since it opened. As mentioned in the other reviews, the wait staff was uninterested and inattentive, starting the evening off on a bad note. You wouldn?t expect this sort of service in any restaurant in downtown Decatur! The ...
It was wonderful to see downtown Decatur graced with such an original concept. Unfortuantely, the owner seems to be unable to have pulled it off. What started as a brilliant idea to serve unique, and sometimes bizarre, dessert items has morphed beyond the realm of the mundane. Friends have raved about the martinis here, yet when I tried one I immediately became sick to my stomach from the copi...
I have been waiting for something like this to come around for so long. The Chocolate Bar offers a much needed alternative to the ordinary slices of cake, brownie, or cheesecake. This revolutionary concept is new to the small town of Decatur but i think we all have a lot to learn. At The Chocolate Bar it wasn't simply about what you are getting for your money. it is the elegance and art to the de...
My husband and I had drinks and dessert here on Wednesday night - The Chocolate Bar and Espresso martini are some of the best I've ever had. We sat outside and it was a good crowd. The server was very attentive. The best part was the guy behind the bar - he was soooo helpful and enthusiastic. We had trouble deciding on which truffles to get and he gave us some great opinions on which he loved. (W...
I love chocolate and have been so thrilled to find the chocolate bar. It is a little out of the way if you live OTP, but it is worth the drive.
I have eaten at the Chocolate Bar 3 times now.
I love the atmosphere! The colors are great as well as the benches and seating are comfortable.
Try their curry popcorn! You can't beat it for the price. If it is your first time going, try the chocolate martini. After once, go for the wine!
It can get a little pricey on the desserts and they are small but rich in flavor. Save some money an...
The unintimidating wine list and out of this world martinis at Chocolate Bar made for a nice romantic after-dinner spot. The service is friendly, patient, and well-groomed. The atmosphere is casually romantic and the chocolate is bam amazing!
The impressive chocolate drinks at Chocolate Bar were so sippable and the passion fruit gummies turned me as extatic as Precious Pup, but the FOOD has changed my life! I've had dinner at ALL the great restaurants inside the Atlanta perimeter and all over Europe as well, and nothing comes close to the INTENSE flavors of the Chocolate Bar's Valentine's Day three courses and bonbon special. The chef...
I've been to che Chocolate Bar numerous times now, since I live nearby, and I have several favorite items like the hot chocolate and the oreo dessert. However, on valentines my husband and I went for the prix fix menu and that's where I really learned how to enjoy the best of the Chocolate Bar - you've got to try several courses together.
The desserts are not high in calories and aren't terri...
The staff here has been around since opening, and they know their stuff! The employees seem to actually enjoy their jobs and so they take care of the customers. I had a great experience, the food was different, but delicious. I even met the owner, and what a sweet lady she is!
We went last Sunday night. The staff had ZIP for personality- they were socializing with each other as if we were interrupting their party. The place looked like it was going out of business to be honest, she said they' d had a busy weekend? Still, y'all ever heard of restocking the wine cubbies? We were very excited about going here, had read the review in Atlanta magazine, but were more disappo...
I was excited to go to this bar. When my friend and I arrived we were greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere. The service we received, however, was disgraceful . Our server got our order and did not return for 20 mins, we waited as the hostess and another server walked by us and chatted with friends, Finally we alerted the hostess that we were being ignored, and she let our server know. This plac...
I was very disappointed in my recent experience at the Chocolate Bar. I went with a bunch of friends and, despite the fact we were buying drinks and chocolate, the owner/manager came over to our table and told us how much money they were losing from our big table taking up so much space ($700 to be exact despite the fact there were empty tables). Every few minutes they asked us if we were ready...
I must recant my previous compliments from before. I went back to the Chocolate Bar to indugle in a bottle of wine and several chocolates and was ASKED TO MOVE TO ANOTHER TABLE!!!! I was livid.. I have never been so insulted and been asked to move in the middle of my dining experience. On top of that shortly after I moved the two table next to me became free which is what I was told was the reaso...
I have never posted a review about a restaurant in Atlanta before, but my past experiences at The Chocolate Bar in Decatur have been bad enough to warn other people not to go. I live in downtown Decatur, and I was thrilled when I found out a dessert/wine/cocktail bar was coming last summer. The first time I went, I wasn't completely disappointed, but I also wasn't impressed. The dessert menu is v...
Did you ever want to know what kind of wine compliments chocolate? Who cares when you can have so much of it all in one place and its affordable. This place is like a little piece of heaven. Ladies takes your girlfriends and men take your wives!
It's my understanding that Happy Hour is illegal in Decatur.
Anyone else know anything about this?
Quaint Cozy place to relax during Happy Hour. The location is convenient from all Atlantic traffic!!
Being from NYC it takes a lot for me to say I like a place. My friend and I stop in on a Wed. night. We def. fell for this lil place, loving the decor and the staff, was all so nice.. Our drinks..of course having to do with chocolate were all so yummy. The chocolate martini is def. worth getting. Though, the place is charming its kinda hard to have a convo without feeling like the people next t...
The desserts are small and the prices are high. The service was great, but the experience wasn't worth it.
Chocolate Bar
This is my first-time reviewing a place to eat but I was so impressed with the Chocolate Bar, the service and food that I want to make sure that others enjoy it. My daugter and I had the pleasure of treating ourselves with a girl's night out . It was over the top in service(our waiter was a premed student at Emory) and the food. The waiter questioned what we liked and provided sug...
The Chocolate bar as been getting a lot of hype in the Atlanta restaurant scene. After a very nice meal in another part of Atlanta my husband and I decided to give the Chocolate bar a try on our way home. Our experience that night was not at all in line with all of the hype. The decor was not as chic as advertised and the stark little cafe style tables did not encourage one to linger over dess...
I recommend stopping there for your desserts after you have dined somewhere else for dinner. I took my parents and girlfriend there for my mothers birthday last night. The waitress was very helpful in suggestions and when we got a togo box with more goodies for us to eat later she wrapped my mothers up with a card saying Happy Birthday on it. How extremely nice that was of her to do. Alot of serv...
Last Tuesday night after our weekly Fried Chicken Dinner w/Scott Peacock at Watershed, we needed a new Chocolate fix! The Chocolate Bar is the bomb! It's small, intimate, hip and craves one's sensual senses. Assorted Chocolate Martini's, Housemade Truffles, featuring hickory smoke, basil or tequila. They have a lenghty wine list and a large selection of culinary cocktails, some spiked with Gree...
My wife and I stopped into The Chocolate Bar last night after a wonderful dinner at Watershed just down Ponce. We'd heard about the opening, but had yet to stop in. Right off the bat, we were very impressed with the amazingly friendly staff and beautiful decorated interior, not to mention the glowing case of truffles and other goodies staring you in the face upon immediate entry into the front do...
