Amazing!!!!
When my non-Dominican friends ask me for good Dominican food this is where I take them. Everything in the Menu' is great, makes me proud to be Domiminican. I've been to the one in Miami and the food is great there too.
The other thing is that they actually have Brugal which is the best rum ever!
I took my mom and her friend to this restaurant to check out a different type of restaurant and we were not disappointed! You could say it was her Mother's Day gift even though it was actually the day before Mother's Day. I figured it might be too packed on Sunday, so taking her the day before would be a wise move.
The food we ordered was a sampler appetizer and also a main course seafood comb...
Mamajuana has the best tapas and sangria around!
Saturday nights get a little busy and sometimes that makes the service slow. But it's worth the wait. Make a reservation and it's even better!
The atmosphere is classy but casual. Beautiful decor.
ALL the food is here is great! Especially the empanadas!!!
Mamajuana serves a great variety of tasty tapas. There is everything you can think of. The Mamajuana Cocas are awesome! The restaurant is great and very relaxing. You don't have to wait long, and the wait staff is very attentive. If you like tapas, this is the hidden gem! Great experience all around.
I went there recently and it definitely adds more flavor to the neighborhood. I tried the sampler and it priced about $35 a bit pricey but the food was good filled w/ Tapas, shrimp, chicken and platano maduro topped with which seemed to be bacalua (codfish)..yum! Average meals costs around $25, appetizers $10.
I usually go there for sun brunch with live flamenco and it's not bad. but boy sat nights are dif. i was with a friend and little did we know we were in for a third world experience. Everytime i go they make us wait like an hr for a table we lost track of time talking at the bar and they made us wait for 2hrs, and that's because we went to ask. The girl had a list but she had forgoten us! we fina...
I went to Mama Juanas for a birthday last year in Ocotober of 2007 the food and drinks were definitely amazing, and our portions were very plentiful. I have to admit we were a huge group and paid a lot of money for all the food and drinks that we purchased but we were also basically asked to skiddadle after we paid.
As far as the most previous review 5/2008 maybe your experience was not so gre...
A friend wanted to take me to this place on Dyckman she swore to me was the best for my birthday dinner. We arrived at Mamajuana's and were told it wld be a 30 minute wait to be seated. That ws at 6:50 pm. It was Mothers Day so naturally there were large parties waiting to be seated. Understood, but the staff and mgmt was totally unprepared to handle this rush of business apparently. We went to t...
I have been meaning to go to Mamajuana's for some time now. I love that it is a hip new restaurant in Inwood, but because of some of the reviews have been very hesitant to go. Finally the opportunity arises and I make reservations. To give credit where it is due -we were promptly seated and the wait staff, food and drinks were amazing (strong and delicious) try the Mamajuana mojito! It was a ...
As I read some of the comments on this restaurant I was extremely surprise. I've been to Mamajuana at least 5-6 times with a different crowd each time and on different days of the week and my expirience has always been great. I don't have anything bad to say about the place (well, on Sat nights it can get really crowded and the wait is long if you have no reservations.). I LOVE IT!!! The food ...
I have been to mamajuana a few times and loved the atmosphere, but i must say i went to dinner last night and was disappointed in the service. For a restaurant that has so much to offer the community, the service has gone down hill. i hope the owner or manager takes these reviews into consideration and invests more time in hiring the correct staff or train their current servers to do a better job...
It pains me to write a bad review of this restaurant because in theory this place is exactly what this neighorhood needs. But in reality, I had one of the most awful dining experiences possible. The food was ok, the ambience was ok, but all hope and expectations of wrapping up a lovely evening on a good note were dashed when the manager asked us to leave because "there were people waiting for a t...
I invited a girlfriend out for dinner with the hopes of celebrating her birthday at mamajuanas. The night started off well. We were seated promptly, our meal was delivered in a timely manner and the food was decent (although a bit overpriced).Unfortunately things turned sour about 2/3 into our meal when I noticed the manager started to make frequent stops at our table, eyeing the progress we had ...
I've been to the restaurant 3 times already, and I must say I can never get sick of it!! Food is always amazing there, my favorite is the paella. They change their menu seasonally and there are specials everynight. Service is excellent, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. If you are a fan of Latin/Spanish flavors this place cannot be missed. The sangria is the best in town! Go on a Thur...
This place is great. It might appear to be a bit more upscale based on the prices on the menu, but in reality it is a great value. The dishes are huge! More importantly, the quality of the food compares very favorably to most similarly priced restaurants downtown. The dishes are carefully seasoned and service is very attentive. It is a real gem for the Washington Heights/ Inwood areas.
I have to tell you im one of those people that never make it that far uptown. I live in Harlem if you havent heard all that one needs is happening in Harlem right now... BUT WAIT!!!! I was invited to Mamajuana and my first thought was im not going to Dykman to eat. Not Happening. What a miss that would have been. Ill make it short because all you really care about is the food, the service, and th...
I started my 22nd birthday celebration with dinner at this restaurant - and IT WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I don't know many places that are able to accommodate 24 people while also providing superb service. For starters the decor is unmatched in this developing neighborhood. After getting of the train, I wasn?t sure where to walk, but then I saw the medieval-style doors ? which instantly set Mama...
I gathered a few co-workers and we all went to the great place. The food, drinks and desserts were great. The portions were plentiful. We ate on the huge side walk. I loved the fact that the sidewalk seating area was very far away from the street. Unlike other side walk eating area's we did not have to smell the exhaust from the cars parking in the street. I never liked eating outside until I cam...
I had a similar first reaction to Mamajuana as did Jayrnyc (1st review). I really liked the style and I still do. I have been to their brunch which I thought was generous in terms of food. I think the place is beautiful and I really like the sidewalk cafe scene. But the prices are manhattan-high and I wish the whole experience could match the prices. The brunch food was tasty but at 3:00 in...
This restaurant came out of no where! They are way ahead of their time for this developing area. First off, the decor and attention to detail of the space is unbelievable. So beautiful and inviting. Not stuffy at all. You can also eat and drink like a king but get a bill fit for a pauper. I normally would not go all the way uptown just for a restaurant but the drinks and atmosphere make the trip ...
I live in the area and decided to stop by for a few drinks afterwork and wow the place inside is fabulous!!! You definitely feel like your in a different world as soon as you step inside. As for the drinks they ARE FAB! Nice and strong and sweet for the ladies. What intrigued me about this place was the Live Band I saw as I walked by...they mentioned sundaybrunch ... I will def take them up o...
