I first tried This place when I saw it on the food network but after that I was hooked
I love the burgers here. I decided to try them after they made the Top 50 list in the Texas Monthly magazine. My husband and I are determined to try all 50 burgers and so far, this has been our favorite. The only negative is the inconsistency in food quality and mediocre service. I live in Houston but will travel to Dallas on the weekend just to get a burger from this place. Sometimes when I...
My friends and I decided to find the best burger in Dallas. TWBC came in a close second however Angry Dog was a favorite with all.
TWBC has unique burgers but when it came down to the meat the AD was more juicy.
Both give you a lot for your money. Good deals!!
Am I mising something here? There is nothing special about theses burgers. They are good but honestly so are Jack in the Box.
Heard about this place on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives on the Food Channel. On a recent trip to Dallas for a visit went to this place on a Friday night. Line was out the door and took approx 45 minutes to get through and place our order. Bar would not serve anybody until reached end of line so couldn't drink a beer while we waited in line. Burger was ordered medium rare and came out medium well....
My wife and I had read nothing but good things about the Twisted Root Burger Co. (in Deep Ellum), and being self-proclaimed burger connoisseurs, we were really excited to check it out. They've been nominated for best burger, best fries, best onion rings, and best restaurant value in Dallas, by several publications and websites. Unfortunately, on our visit, they didn't live up to the praise that t...
While driving down Commerce on a rainy Saturday afternoon my husband and I noticed this long winding line of people who didn't seem to mind waiting, to get in the Twisted Root Burger Co. and seeing this I immediately wanted to eat there so we parked and the long line quickly dwindled. I don't hold the parking against them since their job is to make premium burgers not to provide premium parking ...
I have no idea what the original location is like, but we will never go back to the new Richardson place. Limited seating, plain burgers - not cooked to order and the mushrooms were from a CAN!!! Frozen curly fries? Are you kidding me? Still wondering what all the hype was about?? We went on a Friday night. Note - if you do go, send one of your party into the dining room while you wait in l...
Wow...the burgers here are F'ing great... the sides are excellent also. The staff is pretty cool; expect a wait during lunch most days though because this place is pretty popular. Parking can be a pain, but it's free during the lunchtime hour still if you can find it.
Honestly, hands down THIS is the place to get the best burger in Dallas. My hubby and I were living at the Deep Ellum Lofts for a yr and this place is just a few blocks from there and we went alot. I recommend the Blue Cheese & Jalapeno Burger for those who like spice (I just take out the jalapenos cause I'm a wimp..lol) The meat is soo juicy and fresh!! Sweet potato chips are delicious, as well ...
Not the same old same old. Wonderful. I cant get enough!!! great location, and really hits the spot when you are looking for something a bit out of the norm.
There is something different about Twisted Root, and their burgers are great.
To the guy that mentioned poor service. I went in the middle of the day, and they were VERY busy with lunch clientele of all sorts. Families, businessmen, and everything in between were dining there.
The service I received was great. Smiles all around, very helpful and they seemed eager to please. Customers looked h...
I don't really have much to say about this place. Because we didn't get a chance to eat! We stopped here after seeing them on citysearch. We walked in on a weekday around 130-2. If I remember correctly they closed at 230 and boy could you feel that when we walked in. The way you order was a turn off very fuddruckerish. No one greeted us no one said nothing. They looked at us like they had ...
Who ever heard of a spicy, cruncy pickle? This place is great! You can get a regular burger, but with all of the gourmet toppings why would you? Fantastic burger, and fun downtown location. You even get to be a star!
All I can say is super... duper... YUM.
My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Just wish they would move it out of Deep Ellum... This place deserves better.
Sitting right in the middle of Deep Ellum this is the burger place to be. The burgers are always juicy and full of flavor. The twisted condiments make the burgers zestier. The daily Twisted Root Beer flavor is always an adventure. (The almond was decent the cinnamon not so good.)
The restaurant's concept is pretty neat. They make hand make everything from their own condiments, teas, rootbeers, pickles, and ice cream. The interior is pretty neat too. The staff is very friendly. The food was just ok. The burger meat was decent but the bun was not to my liking. The bread felt and tasted "dough like" like the buns were not baked long enough. Their fries and fried gree...
Despite some of the negative (and, yes, that's always going to happen) reviews, I personally think, Twisted Root Burger Co. does indeed, serve the best burger (and, burger experience) in Dallas!
Plus, I love their home made root beers, flavored ice teas, and decadent home made ice creams.
After reading several of these reviews, suspicious and otherwise, I?d have to agree with those who found the bang-to-hype ratio a bit outta whack at Twisted Root Burgers. Top 100 restaurant? Best of? Whoa, you might wanna tap the brakes a bit on that. I mean, c?mon, the burgers were decent enough in a Chili?s sort of way. They were about average in poundage for the price, however, they tasted uns...
I went to the Twisted Root today. This was my second time. The first time was with coworkers during a conference. This time I brought my family. Need I say more? Burgers are excellent, fries are amazing and the onion rings are TO DIE FOR - very "stick to your ribs" kind of food. We didn't try the ice cream this time but the root beer and home made condiments were wonderful! Next time we ar...
Beware reviews of Twisted Root Burger Co. posted here. After visiting it -- and having a less-than five-star experience -- I took a look back at the dozens of raves that prompted me to check it out in the first place. On closer inspection, many of these posts struck me as having been written by the same person and, in fact, read more like press releases. Many were even submitted on the same day: ...
Honestly I've never had such a great hamburger in my life. Not only that but the prices were right on and you couldn't have gotten a better meal for such a reasonable price! The service was wonderful as well! I highly recommend this restaraunt!
I'm an expert on Burgers - honestly an expert - and thisTHANKFULLY is no cookie cutter burger spot. The two main parts of a burger: the meat and the bread are Unbeatably Fresh - you can tell! On top of that--everything else has it's own AMAZING twist. I come here for lunch or after a crazy night and the food combined with the atmosphere make this place the best in Dallas. The homemade sauces and ...
My friend I performed a very "scientific" review of the Twisted Root and Angry Dog. We ate the exact same burgers at both locations and both agreed that the Angry Dog burger was superior. The freshly grated cheddar cheese made the difference.
This place definitely serves the best burgers in Dallas. All of the ingredients are very fresh and are high quality. The servings are large, the service is quick, the place is always clean, and the atmosphere in pleasant. Aside from the burgers, they have excellent shakes (the peaches and cream is my favorite). They used to serve hand battered onion rings, but stopped serving them- I wish they'd...
Casual counter style ordering, condiments on each table, exposed brick walls. Service is fast and the food is delicious, although the sweet potato chips were a bit soggy last time we were there. Great place for a quick Saturday lunch!
If you like ?meat? on your burgers, this is the place to try. Not only are the ingredients fresh, but wildly different. You won?t be disappointed. If you like regular, Texas style, burgers you can get that, too, but you?d be cheating yourself if you didn?t try one of the gourmet burgers with everything from Black Angus to veggie patties. And save room for the most incredible ice cream you wil...
I go to the Root at least every couple of weeks and still think it's the best in town. I stand by my 07 review (see below, unless this new review wipes it out - which would be a shame, as it is Emerson-worthy prose).
On a couple of trips the seasoning was off (1: Ostrich patty too salty, 2: Buffalo not seasoned enough), but with the frequency I eat there, that's a pretty good average.

Never been a huge burger-gal, but this is the only place I'll go when I'm in Dallas. The guys are great! Always a good time.
Quality ingredients and great taste that make it worth driving from North Dallas. There is no other place like it! Start with the Fried Mac N Cheese and finish with the strawberry shake. Patio dining is always great for the scenery.....
OK. I know a thing or two about burgers - having eaten a Texas-sized herd's worth of USDA Prime - and the only burger to cause me physical cravings is The Twisted Root's Blue Cheese Jalapeno burger with grilled onions. It has always proven worth the 20+ minute drive from my home (past at least 50 other "burger joints") to The Root for the BCJ - but don't forget the grilled onions! My wife tried...
Our server (blonde/long hair) was cold and not friendly in the least! She even charged us wrong. We ordered the special @ $6.99 and she charged us $7.45 (charging us for each topping that was included in the special) and then tried to convince us otherwise?we paid it b/c it wasn?t worth the drama. Thankfully our food was yummy. We ordered veggie burgers, sweet potato chips & fries. Burgers were l...
These are the best burgers in the Metroplex by far!! There is a fun atmosphere, good food, and service with a smile! :) Don't forget to try the sweet potato fries dipped in their special chipotle ketchup...yummy!!
Great burger, sweet potato chips and sauces. I never know which one to use, horseradish mustard, chipotle ketchup or Quibcy's famous BBQ sauce. Wash it all down with a homeade rootbeer....WOW!
Don't get me started on the fried mac and cheeseballs, they come with sauces too; IF you can wait long enough to dip them. Thanks for putting great food under a bun and at the table. Bring your friends, gr...
Great burgers, a casual atmosphere and a fun staff. Hard to beat that combination. Try the ice cream - it's awesome.
I don't even live in Dallas and I love the place. I'm fortunate that I get to Dallas on business about once a month and I'm able to get a great burger at a very reasonable price. Not to mention the free WiFi let's me get some work done while I'm enjoying my meal. Don't hesitate to ask questions, the staff is friendly and hard working; if you have a problem let someone know (if you're impossibl...
Real Cheddar cheese sticks to your fingers as you attempt to bite through this massive 1/2 lb Black Angus burger. Then you hear James Bonds, Tinkerbell, and Mr. T's names called out to come grab their food. Greatness. You will not be dissappointed!
They also have awesome sweet potatoe fries and homeade ice cream floats even for adults :)
The owner is a pretty cool guy too
I had no idea that a hamburger could taste so good. It is also such a great place to meet, have a great lunch and enjoy great conversation.
Great place!! Be sure to check this place out and bring some friends for good times!! The burgers are great tasting so go on by and get a bite of one unless your mouth is wired shut.
I am not really a burger eater, but the spicy black bean burger is SO great!!! I really crave it all the time : ) also a very FUN and Friendly place to be!!!
Try the sweet potato fries and fried macaroni and cheese!! The burgers are awesome too! they didn't get recognized by Best in Big D for nothing!!
Twisted Burger serves up awesome burgers and the best fried sweet potatoes! Try the turkey burger for a light version. The fried mac and cheese is the best we've tasted.
The buffalo burger and fried mac and cheese are delightful! Great atmosphere and overall good times for all.
This is a great restaurant. This is one of the best burgers I have ever had. The service is always top notch. Its in a great location. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who asks where to find the best burgers in town. And who knows you just may end up seeing a celebrity or 2 (John Travolta perhaps).
Great atmosphere with friendly staff. The owner,Jason Boso,is always there to make sure everything is up to snuff.
Twisted Root is awesome, from the fresh ice cream floats to the seasoned sweet potato fries. Get ready for a laugh and a great menu to select from. I've eaten here dozens of times and I'm only 5 months old.

Twisted Root in Deep Elem. True story: After a long night of loving a woman who was not quite clean I woke up with a bad rash. So what did I do, I got down to the twist root as fast as I could and had 2 cheese burgers and a Banana & Baileys milkshake and I was cured. Twisted root burgers are like magic!!!!
Best Burger and urban hangout in Deep Ellum. Refreshing to have a place to hang out with friends over great food and awesome shakes!
The burger was awesome. Hot, juicy, tender meat with all the fixins on my burger please! I loved sweet potatoes fries as well as the onion rings. And the homemade ice cream shakes are the best. Very unique flavors and made fresh as well. Great concept. Clean, neat and above all great customer service. We all know that is a must in Dallas. One place I will return to again and again!!!

Ok, so I'm a vegetarian who happens to love this burger joint. Why? Mostly the chocolate shakes, the fries, and the three cheese salad (love those spicy pecans). Not only that, it's a great place to hang with friends, watch some sports on TV and share a drink or seven.
Don't waste your time, you can't finish the double cheeseburger. I'm almost three bills and I was sick an entire day after attempting to do it. The wife swears the Turkey Burger is the best in town. Don't really like the crazy root beer flavors but overall, a great, clean place to bring the family.
If you want to have an incredible burger, go to the Twisted Root. I have never had a better burger in this town, or any town for that matter. While you are there, try the sweet potato fries and fried mac and cheese. They are outstanding. Before you leave, get a shake. hell, get two shakes. You won't be sorry.
Thanks TRB, you've been a long time coming!
This is the place to be. Great atmossphere and decor, but the food is where it is at. Burgers are awesome! The fried mac and cheese is incredible. Curly fries are great! Gotta go to the Root for lunch!
This is a great place to chill out, get some great food and watch sports. It's a casual fun burger bar. Ingenious!!!!
Twisted Root offers gourmet burgers at a great price in a fun, casual atmosphere. I don't even eat burgers that often but they've got me hooked! I can't order burgers at other restaurants now, it's just not the same.
Twisted Root has amazing burgers, not to mention sides...my favorite and something I tend to crave is their Spicy Black Bean burger...hey, salads are awesome too. Want something cool for dessert, Oven Roasted Strawberry shakes...they have more flavors but this is my favorite. Mouth is watering thinking about Twisted Roots awesome food!
These guys know what they are doing! The black angus burger was absolutely delicious and the fried macaroni is a must have. They make there own root beer too ... I had no idea root beer could taste so good.
Friendly staff, amazing burgers and I found a place with great sweet tea! Being a Georgia Girl, this is like finding liquid gold! I was there early afternoon and got to watch them prepping ground beef for burgers, just like you do at home. No prepackaged patties here, the burger was so good and juicy. I have to get back to try the homemade ice cream next time!
