  10. loud and crowded, great rooftop
went there last thurs for my friend's bday. there was a good crowd for a thursday night. we couldn't get a table so we had to order from the bar, which was better on the first floor than the second. one bartender who seemed like he didn't know what he was doing made our drinks wrong and then refused to even try to fix them, but the tall blonde girl was really nice about it and made sure we wer...

  11. Good until the end
So today a family member and i went into tonic. We had a waitress name Andrea who seemed sweet in the begining. She made us feel welcome and gave me a compliment on my earrings, anyway. Later when my family member and i were finished we asked for the check, once she gave it to us i used my gift card that i got from Tonic to pay, I didn't have any big bills on me all i had was three dollars so i c...

  13. Fun for a night with friends
I went to Tonic for Happy Hour after work with some friends. They played awesome music...everything from 80's to the new hits. They have this wheel that you spin during happy hour- who doesn't like winning a free drink? Before we knew it, it was 10pm- time flies when you're having so much fun. Overall, this is a great place for a chill happy hour after work. I definitley recommend checking it out!

I recently planned my girlfriend?s birthday and after calling several places, finally decided to go with Tonic East. It def was the right choice. Everyone there from the manager who helped me planned the party, to the bouncer out front, to our waitress were great and made sure we had a great time. It was a super busy night, but not in an annoying way b/c everyone there was having a good t...

  15. Best Christmas Party
My company had our Christmas party here and we had so much fun. They played our own Ipod so we could dance!! Who does that?? They even had Christmas movies playing on the big screens. Food was good. Our bartender was so HOT! I know I'll be back for that alone!! Good stuff! Definately, going back. I have never been on a typical Friday or Sat. night, so I can't agree or disagree with others on ...

  16. They lied.
I called the event planner and made a reservation for a birthday party with 20 people. The person I spoke with told me that my friends and I would be in the back, that they contolled every speaker in the place so it wouldn't get too loud, and that there was plenty of dancing space. When we got there we were seated all the way in the front by the door, which blew cold air every time it was opened,...

OM, this place was amazing! Had my sister's bachlorette party there in July and we had a great time! The service was way more than I expected. We did and open bar with dinner and I can't believe how much we got for such a good price. The crowd was great and the music was even better! It got a bit crowded but that was fine b/c everyone was having such a GREAT time! Highly recommended!!!!!!1

  19. great outdoor bar
For some reason I really like Tonic. They always seem to have fun music playing that you can dance to (anything from Notorious BIG to Britney Spears). When they are not playing sports (yuck) on their huge screen Tvs they play the matching music video. Their drink prices are average for NYC. They have a fantastic 3rd floor outdoor bar with a great view of midtown. My only complaint is that Tonic t...

We had a corporate event here at Tonic East on the rooftop and myself and my clients couldn't have been any happier. The staff was very professional yet fun and friendly! 25. Beware - Never plan a party there!
As for the bar itself, you cant help but love the rooftop and multi-level bars. HOWEVER, I planned an open bar party here recently and was made into a bouncer, collecting money from my own guests, putting on bracelets, and holding onto over a grand in cash. This process ruined the first half hour of a 3 hr open bar. On top of it all, they wrongly charged WAY more than they promised in an attempt...

I loved this spot for my after work birthday gathering where I wanted lots of tv's and outdoor seating to watch the Yankees. Management was kind enough to rope off an area for us even though we did not book a party. The only con is that after happy hr the drinks are way too much! When I first went here I was very surprised at the wonderful atmosphere and the service was great too. 41. surprising
the "tonic" logo - i.e., the bar's name strewn across the side of the building - lead me to believe that behind once inside, i'd hear nothing but the "untz-untz" pounding of dance music while being approached by mobs of drunk 20-something males. but its worth giving the place a chance. head straight to the rooftop and grab a table close to the railing - a setting where you can enjoy great view...

Went there after work with a big group and had a blast on the rooftop deck. There are a lot of tables in the way, but they clear them out of the middle once it gets a litle crowded. This is the first time I've been compelled to write a review. Tonic was packed, played decent music (albeit on repeat--about a six song cycle). But nothing could infuriate me more than retrieving my coat from the coat check (for which I paid) only to find it covered in dirt. Not just a small spot or stain. The DJ was great (although I don't think there was a need for his own personal body guard) with coordinating music videos. He played old school hits and today's top ten. The place was crowded but not ridiculous. There was a VIP area but I truly don't believe anyone VIP-worthy was up there.
