I went to check out Cuba Libre, but as of 2 weeks it is now Agave, a place that still needs to work out many kinks. The service was extremely slow.
Being Los Feliz folk, we take pride in our restaurants that line Vermont. We've been to this place back when it was the retro Hollywood Hills restaurant. Then wet saw it was reincarnated as Tiger Lily, but it always looked empty-a bad sign in our eyes. How interesting that they split the place into TWO different restaurant! We've been over to Mes Amis. TRES BIEN! Definitely a step above the OTHER...
So my friends and I had just read about this place in the LA Times a few days ago, and we were interested in trying it out. We weren't disappointed. Great vibe and decor, attentive service, and fantastic Sunday Evening Happy Hour pricing made this a great choice for a relaxed evening, and the mojitos weren't too bad either.
Re: Service. One of the waiters happened to have a slight accident wi...
For what you get, you pay too much. That said, it's not a nice interior and isn't a bad place to grab a drink. There are, however, better asian / asian fusion options in the area on Hillhurst.
We were there on one Thursday night for a night club they have. Nice crowd, nice music but a bit of lousy bunch in the crowd, probably like this guy below me!
2 glasses of cognac for 68 bucks??? THAT'S REDICULOUS, WHY DID YOU PAY FOR 2 IF YOU ARE GONNA COMPLAIN ABOUT IT???? You know this guy's sooooooo lying! Tiger Lily doesn't serve food anymore, so you know this guy is lying and talking out ...
terrible service, bad food, lousy drinks, do not go there at all.
I was there with 6 of my friends, we all had bad experiences, for 2 glasses of cognac they charged us 68 dollars and it was a very very small shot, bad service, they over charge you there avoid guys and girls, big ripoff
This place has the worst expensive food I have ever tried. I will never eat there again! A hair on my plate that wasn't mine. Enough said! I left early one night and one of the girls with me told me about how the owner was hitting on her and getting too close for comfort. Is this proper? Especially since she's only 24 years old? FYI, Don't get any of the burgers.... Horrible. Drinks, Too expensiv...
So my boyfriend and I go out on monday night for a nice dinner out. Our luck we come to Tiger Lily! What were we thinking, food was less than below average. What? Do they pay less than $1.50 for a meal they charge us $30 on? I could've made this meal with my eyes closed and my hands tied! The drinks we ordered were horrible!!! AND they were expensive. My boyfriend and I don't like to complain but...
Cheeeeeesy. I think they had like bad techno playing, which is actually nightmarish,
crowd, if you can call 10 people a crowd were well, so cheeeesy, waste of space
Food is dissapointing. Atmosphere . YUK! I tried posting this before but it seems it's getting erased. I met the owner (who I thought was a woman), then met a man who invited me to a drink and flirted with me all night who claimed to be the owner. Some blue eyed dark guy. I asked him if he was married and he said no! I just met his wife a couple hours earlier?! OR there's just some weirdos in h...
I also came to this restaurant expecting the owner to honor the 1/2 off happy hour. The owner refused to honor the happy hour, thought his own staff including a manager and wait persone confirmed the 1/2 off price. We, the guests, were put in the position of trying to get the promised price as well as not compromising the waitress. The owner was unreasonable and beligerant. When I said that h...
Bar and wait staff are friendly, but not so competent. Been there a few times, (gave it the benefit of the doubt) but no more. The food is OK, but nothing to write home about. The owner is unbelieveabley unprofessional. If you want a nice dining experience, this is not the place. You can find much better for the price. There is a very long story that explains my opinion, but it would take to...
After reading on THEIR website that they offered discounted appetizers and drinks from 5-7, my three friends and I decided to try this place. Before ordering anything we asked the waitress to confirm the happy hour special. We asked specifically if drinks and appetizers on the patio would be 50% off. She said she'd never heard about a happy hour there (?!) but after checking with the MANAGER t...
My boyfriend and I eat out alot, since I refuse to cook, so we get to try alot of new places. I realized that most of the places that greatest reviews usually are the worst . I read all the good and negative reviews before I went to this place just for kicks. It was the first time that I've read such mixed reviews about one place. We had to see it for ourselves. We went on a sat night pretty...
I guess it's my fault for just going by the # of stars this place got rather than actually reading all the reviews but this place is definitely not better than average! Don't get me wrong, it's really not a terrible place to eat and they do some things really well: the service, the decor, the music and overall vibe were all excellent. Except, I went there for a tasty bite to eat and was disappoi...
We went late last Sat night (after attending a tacky fight-night event) and the lounge side was rented out for a loud private party (Armenian?). An ambitious promoter from the party tried to charge us $25 for entry. As we were walking away, a waitress/bar tender from the restaurant ran up to us and offered us entry for no charge. She chastised the promoter and walked us in. We told her that we ju...
I found the dining experience to be absolutely wonderful. The ambiance was great and played really great music. The full bar offered a great menu of drinks. The bartender made one of the best martinis I ever tasted. Lastly, food was excellent. We ordered mostly beef and chicken dishes, and they were excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
My buddy was throwing an engagement party here for about 50 people. The management gave us a section of the restaurant that was closed off to the public. Service, management, drinks, food everything was excellent.
Special props goes to Evan. What service! He went above and beyond what was asked of him.
My girlfriends and I went there to have a nice gals night out. It was totally ruined by the worst service we ever had. We found this place from city search and trusted the good rating. It was a kind of Chinese fusion reastaurant. We went there on Friday night, but it was not packed. The food was okay. It was nothing make you 'wow'. I rather say I was disappointed. The portion was small,,...
A group of friends and I went to Tiger Lily for the first time during my birthday celebration. The decor is sleek and dark in a good way, and I anticipated what was in store for us later in the evening. We started at the bar with some cocktails and some of the martini concoctions were excellent! I had the Chinese Dancer which included lychee puree and it was absolutely delicious.
When we fi...
I was hanging out with a couple of friends from New York headed to the movie theater on Saturday Night and realized we were an hour early. We were walking down the street trying to decide on where to go for drinks as we noticed a hip artsy crowd of people going into Tiger Lily's Bar Lounge. My friends wanted to go in so we decided to give it a try. As we walked up to the door we noticed there was...
We were at this restaurant last Sat. night, it was fantastic. We started at the bar for a happy hour appetizer of the best calamari I've ever eaten and Lily saketinis. We moved into the dining room for our entrees. It was hard deciding from the variety and a very innovative menu. We went the surf and turf route and shared the pan seared salmon that was cooked to perfection, moist and delicious an...
recently went to the tiger lily for a 23 person party meal. We had a party deal going for 30 bucks a person (not including tax and gratuity). Who ever wanted to partake in a 3 course meal of pre selected items from the menu shared it with everyone else who participates in the deal. If you didn't want to go that route, you can opt out and eat an item off the menu like a regular meal to yourself...
Slow, Expensive, and not enough food for the people who paid for the "prefix" meal. Would not recommend for large groups. Our expectations and needs were not met for how much we paid.
This is how I look at it. I paid 40+ dollars for a meal (tax and gratuity included), and still wasn't full. We were led to believe that we could eat "all you can eat." if that was a misunderstanding, and it were...
Always empty, so I decided to give it a chance. BAD DECISION! The food and drinks are way over priced and the service is over bearing! We had the calamari which was soggy and lacking any flavor. Stay away from the seafood!! I was there on a Monday and to my surprise it was a night of some very untallented comedy and had me itching to leave consistantly throughout my meal. I will never go there a...
I returned to find that the menu had changed. Before it was very good and now I just can't decide what to order, it all sounds so good. I had the Gnocchi (frankly it was the best I've had in Los Angeles)which was served in a very rich beef gravy, YUM. My date had the Blue cheese burger, it was obviously premium ground steak and it was cooked to perfection even though my date ordered it well done ...
Wow, this place was a big disappointment. Upon walking in to this HUGE and EMPTY restaurant, I got the sense that maybe someone knew something I didn't. Granted it was a Monday, but I've certainly been some highly rated and fabulous restaurants that were hopping even then. There was one other table seated and the morose host wanted to seat us at a cramped table directly in front of them. The ...
I am not a food critic but I do know good food when it hits my palate. This is my first time posting anything but I could not resist; what a fantastic meal we had at this place. Their black cod is so good even my 14 yr old loved it, cooked to perfection, moist and flaky in a delicate sauce that allowed the taste of the fish to come through complimented beautifully. We had ordered one dish to shar...
We went to Tiger Lily on a Saturday night after a nice dinner out ,for some drinks. The bartender-ette was very friendly and poured one heck of a Manhattan! But we went there primarily based on the user reviews that said the ambience and setting was very modern and sophisticated. Personally, I found the place itself less than average, and it seemed more like a neighborhood bar than a hip place to...
The ambiance is dark and trendy, the service is attentive and helpful. The menu, overall, is really intriguing, but only one of our dishes had any real pizzaz--the osso buco. Otherwise, although interesting, the rest of our dishes were fairly bland and non-descript. In addition to the osso buco, we had: Sweet corn and chicken soup, Monchurian chicken and vegetable fried rice. The adjacent lounge ...
I came from the South Bay and went here for a girls dinner before a birthday party in Silverlake. All three of us were so impressed- we left wishing we lived closer to it! The service was superb- the waitress recommended different wines for us to try...she was attentive but not over bearing. The food was delicious - we had the pad thai, the dim sum plate, the tuna tartare and the calamari. O...
I brought my girlfriend and my father here for dinner last weekend. I was instantly struck by how personable the staff was, and it was the first time that I had ever had the chef come out to ask me how my meal was and get some feedback.
We started with the popcorn shrimp and the ribs, both of which were incredible. Chef Eddie suggested a chilled bottle of red wine that was surprisingly tasty...
Two of my friends and I went on a Sat. night. It was pretty mellow-the vibe was calm. The food was really good but very small portions. The waiters were all really nice. When we were in the bathroom, we heard cheers and came out to find a couple just got engaged. There was a dj but we didn't stay for any dancing. Try the chocolate cake with the "oohee goohey" filling to die for....order two cause...
I just wanted to say that this place is absolutely amazing. I traveled the world (and still do) and I am a gourmand and I always expect good food and service, and I only eat at good places. I have a private chef at my estate so I know good food. This restaurant happens to be my favorite restaurant in LA! So all you people that are talking as if you know a thing about food are full of *#@*(things ...
good service, food mediocre. everything SOUNDED great from the menu, and the waiter really talked it all up, but actually left me hungry due to the small portions, and disappointed in the quality of the fish, and dishes overall. not so great food - wouldn't go there again, even though the waiter was very friendly, and the chef came around to introduce himself afterwards. overall, not tasty enou...
My having traveled and lived in the Orient and in France has left me with the curse of being a big gourmand with a decent knowledge of European and Oriental cooking. Because of this, I have had a problem with fushion restaurants, as every one that I had visited in the States lacked the spice of Oriental cooking and character of the Euro flare they were trying to captivate ( ie the noodles would b...
Since moving to Los Feliz 7 years ago, I've seen three different restaurants in this location. It's nice to know that they finally got it right. My date and I strolled in last night looking for a place to nibble (we both had wanted to try this new incarnation but as of yet had not). It was 8:30 p.m. on a Tuesday night and the place was rather quiet. The service, however, was prompt and friend...
Had a friend in town from New York and the night she got in I decided to bring her here as I had not yet been myself . It was too late for dinner but we went to the lounge area and I must say, I couldn't have had a better mojito in Cuba! Excellent!! My friend commented how much the place had an east coast vibe and we both had a great time. The music was excellent (Sarah Vaugh, Nina Simone, Bjork...
Whatever on the cool bar and music and people happy to smoke on the patio, all I want is to sit in those comfortably big booths and have a multi course meal served up like little tidbits of fun. Start me with the Raw Bar and Malaysian Roti Prata with Curry Sauce while drinking a bottle of Prosecco, and then some Hunan black bean Osso Buco with Shari Sotto, trying a new wine everytime. Yeah they ...
I actually went for a drink and to scout it for a location. the only downside was waiting to be noticed for a good minute or two as the bartender flirted. By the way, it works as a couple different things - location wise, for those of you who care. Bottom line : i was taken in by the friendliness of the staff and decided to stay and try some of the food. I wasn't expecting to be wowed because a...
Yet another reason to stay away from the Hollywood/West Hollywood scene. My friends have been bugging me to drop by and check out this new joint for weeks. I don't go east of Vine so this took some effort for me. I couldn't have been more pleasently suprised or wrong! First of all the place glows with an undiscovered east coast old world quality shrouded in a myst of moody Asian mystic. West coas...
I just tried Tiger Lily with a couple of friends. We are all very seasoned, very frequent diners. The bar area is beautiful, with an illuminated opaque glass bar surface, high cielings, very classy. The dining area is spacious and very comfortable with both booths and tables. The tables are beautifully set with clear glass square plates. The service is smooth, professional, friendly and helpful....
Decor is swanky. Service impeccable. Drinks were replenished. Stunning presentation of food juxtaposed with its delectable flavoring. Good place for a romantic evening, groups or a business meeting. Brings back the class of dining out.
This place is amazing! It's simply HOT! The Bartenders are HOT, the place is beautiful, and the food is great. The atmosphere has a very classy upscale vibe and sort of takes me back to the sweet Poshy East Coast scene. My company and I had a wonderful time. Lots of class, upscale, and sooo laid back. Wow. The food is unlike any I have ever tried, it all tasted very good. The bar and bartenders ...
My friends and I had a blast here. The food is really amazing and the atmosphere is great. Being from the east coast, I was really blown away by the vibe. This will be the new Hollywood hot spot!
The food was delicious! The place is classy, dark, and quiet. I was a bit surprised that there was hardly anyone eating there on a Saturday evening, but I quickly found out from the attentive server that the restaurant was only a few weeks old. I would definitely recommend this place to eat if you love atmosphere and great food! Too bad it's not in a better location though. Let's hope this place ...
I brought my birthday party there on last Sat nite, and we just had a ball that whole night! We had my birthday dinner around 7:30 pm, the food and martini were just heavenly i tell you! My ablsolute favorite was their black cod and reb-eye, and my boyfriend just fell in love with their duck, and he usually never eats duck! The service staff was great, everybody treated me like they've known me...
If I could say somethings in a nutshell about this restaurant it would be: amazing food, fantastic service and a fun fun fun place to go to hang out and get drinks. I had the most amazing black cod there ever. I have had black cod in the best restaurants in town but let me tell you...this was the best. My husband had the Rib-Eye and he was exstatic about it. Best Rib-Eye he's had since he left te...
This place just opened a few weeks ago and it is beautiful. The staff, managers and chef are trying real hard but they do need some improvement. Service was a bit erratic and disorganized. Quality of food varied widely, wasabi mashed potatoes and drunken chicken were outstanding but curried fries and skewers very disappointing. Place has great potential but needs some fine tuning.
I saw their review here and I didn't believe it untill I tried it myself. I was there on saturday with some girlfriends and we just were blown away by the look of the place and I was thinking to myself...I hope the food is good. Let me tell you, I had a few saketini's with my friends, some appetizers, and a main dish to share and we were like "OMG this is the best food I ever had". We were all in...
I had dinner there several times. And every time i went, it has exceeded my expectations. I never in my life seen a menu like this one and at first it scared me because I didn't think they could pull something like this off, but they do all the time. The food is amazing and if you don't try it, you are missing out on flavor, value and the experience. This is a must try place. It's not like any ot...
Ate there agian and again and every time it just exceeds my expectation. I went with some friends and they were blown away how good the food was, the value, and the service. I am so happy that finally there is a restaurant in this spoiled city that is not trying to rip you off and everyone is super friendly, unlike other places just focusing on hollywood. This place is definately the place to go ...
The bartenders are so beautiful at this place, and they make heavenly saketinis! For those that love wine, their wine list is so extensive you are for sure to be impressed! Their selection of munchies are so good... you can really get full just off their starters, and their price is just great. Dont miss out!
Their food is just amazing! I had their miso-marinated cod and rib-eye, and my friend had their calamari and bunch of skewers and duck. The presentation of the plates and the place just looked gorgeous and the people there were so nice. The owner and the chef came and shook our hands! We just had so much fun!
okay i'm not sure how this happened but these guys managed to create a really cool place that is unlike any of the others in the area. The restaurant is fine dining quality and attention but unlike other spots doesn't have stuffy fussy service - a feat in and of itself. The dining room is comfy and romantic... a little dark which is mostly ok for dates and friends. The FOOD is the real treat here...
The atmosphere of this bar/restaurant is a breath of fresh air compared to the pretensious and over-rated "hot spots" in LA. There's a magnifying glass lit bar, a variety of personalities in the staff and in the kitchen, and a menu that will satisfy every craving in New World Asian Cuisine. The executive chef is friendly, outgoing, and personable - you see this when he visits your table to intr...
