I had high hopes of this place after searching the internet for a good sushi restaurant and saw that they won the award for "best sushi" in Raleigh. But after my visit, it was clear that one should not believe everything on the internet. I don't write reviews normally but I felt I had to let the people know of my experience compared to all the rave review of this place.
I started out with so...
# of visits : 3 (recently)
The Good : Selection and taste of the rolls are good but not consistent. They carry more variety of fish then your average sushi bar in the area. The atmosphere is nice and romantic and the tatami rooms are nice for private dinners. Service was also pretty decent even on busy nights. The restaurant is also conveniently located in North Hills mall with good parking l...
The first time I went there, I was given a table in a dark area; I asked about being seated outside, but they did not want to do that, in spite of the fact that they could have combined 2 adjacent tables for a party of 4. I guess no big deal.
I went there recently (second time) and was trying to take advantage of their buy one, get the second one at 1/2 price deal. We ordered many $13/$11 susc...
I dined for the first time at Mura just last week. The food was amazing, and the plates were beautifully designed with carrot butterflies, and flower tomatoes. The server was attentive and knowledgable. Overall, I had a great experience and will be back.
I am very picky about sushi and have had bad experiences elsewhere. I was happy to find a new place for good sushi. Fresh fish is good here, and the sake list was more than most carry. The Can sake was the best I've ever had, if you like cold sakes you have to try it. I did have to wait to be seated at the sushi bar, which should be first come first serve, Besides that was great all around.
Mura is one of my favorite restaurants in Raleigh. They have fantastic sushi that always seems to be really fresh. Recently they changed up their sake menu as well, everything seems to be much more affordable and delicious! The servers are always very helpful at recomending great dishes and beverages.
I came in on a saturday only cause I had coupon but was pleasantly suprsised by the authenticity of your food and the great freindly service.
I have been a regular diner at Mura for a little over a year now but recently decided to have lunch there with a few collegues. A few were out of town guests that were not too familiar with sushi. Our server walked us through the entire lunch menu and made recommendations to suit everyone's tastes. The Screaming O Roll is a must as well as the Sushi Bento Box. I definintely recommend it for a...
I've been a regular at Mura for quite sometime now and can't get enough. Well now they offer a bunch of new martinis and have lowered the prices of them which is always nice. Also they have a great new sake list with better desriptions and the servers are always happy to explain them in more detail. I also like the lounge area, its always nice to have the server remember me and what i like to dr...
Best sushi I've experinced in ten states and counting.
The Screaming O and Hurricane rolls are awesome.
I never knew I loved Sake until Mura's extensive Sake menu blew me away. I've never had bad service, and only feel bad that it took me this long to post this review.
I have been eating here for a long time and the presentations have been getting prettier and prettier. The sushi always looks like artwork and the service is awesome. We went with a party of 8 and they had the automatic gratuity but that's the same pretty much wherever you go if it's a nice place. It's always worth it!
I have been to Mura at least Six times. They have good Sushi not the best in town by any stretch but great atmosphere accounts for a lot. Recently I went with a group of six, which entitles them to an auto 20% gratuity. I am usually a 25-30% guy WHEN EARNED. I think the fact that it was known it would be added regardless spoke to the server who was LAZY, absent, and slow. I may return and if I do...
I've been coming here since they opened, and the place never disapppoints. The rolls are awesome, and the newer additions keep it fresh. I'm sorry but the Hurricane roll is amazing. I know it's not old school sushi but I don't care- it's ridiculously good stuff. They have enough to offer people who don't eat sushi regularly, which is nice. I myself like all the hardcore raw goods but it's tough t...
Sure it's beautiful, but you can't eat atmosphere. I have been coming here for years and it is a great bar scene on Fri/Sat nights. But for lunch any day of the week, it is just ok. The service is slow and not particularly attentive. The sushi is sometimes made messily, even during non-peak times. But the thing that irks me is how often the tables feel icky or sticky even though they have been wi...
I always enjoy going to this upscale n hills rest. With food & service to match
My husband and I recently ate here to celebrate our anniversary. The food was excellent. I currently have a limited diet due to food intolerances, and the chef was willing and able to make modifications to the recipes so I could enjoy them. We'll be back!
I eat at Mura on a regular basis, and believe that I have been waited on by almost every server available. Each and every server is extremely attentive, and knowledgeable about what the restaurant has to offer. Visit the lounge/sushi bar for a cool, and casual atmosphere, or the dining room for a more intimate feel. The food is absolutely outstanding. Last visit, I had the hard rock, and the pia...
We've had dinner at Mura twice and have enjoyed the food both times. The sushi was superb and the staff was able to have the chef modify a dish for my young son. The decor is absolutely beautiful; one certainly feels as though (s)he should be dressed to dine there. Even the bathrooms are cool! The prices are much higher than our routine dining out budget will allow for, at least on a consistent b...
I've been going to Mura for years. Great food, but it comes at a price! Not only have they raised their prices across the board, the people get less friendly every time I go. The overall service is NOT where it once was. It takes forever to get your food. You can't have lunch there anymore if you only have an hour! :( If you have a party of four or larger you will be there for hours. Sadly the...
This was my first visit to Mura, and I was quite pleased. The service was exceptional, and our server was able to offer excellent suggestions when asked her opinion. They have an excellent Asian Pear cocktail - wow! A friend and I came for sushi, which we had, but weren't too impressed with the rolls. The presentation was lovely, but nothing exceptional as far as the quality and originality of th...
If you are looking for a place to hang out for drinks and dessert with friends, Mura has a good location. I went with a friend for sushi, which was decent, but average (I had the dragon roll). The waitress we had tonight was very nice, and the speed of service was fine. The miso soup was good, though I didn't like the seaweed, it was a bit slimy, which it shouldn't be. My friends salad with g...
I used to come here alot back in the days but I've noticed that it's not what it used to be. It can be good at times but also just as bad. This place has got so inconsistant over time. It's got to a point where I kind of bite my nails waiting for the food and I shouldn't be doing that when I'm paying this much money. When your at a restaurant of this calibur and price, I should be getting goo...
I've lived in the triangle for years, and this has been a constant favorite. I love the variety of items on their menu, and think their atmosphere is one of the best. There was live music the last time I went, and the atmosphere is definitely cozier with the guitar player they booked than the jazz-type music that they normally have. Food was great, pretty much always is. The new rolls are pretty...
I've been dining here since 3 years ago and I have to say the food quality has been going down hill since a while back. I used to rave and recommend this place to people even just a year back. The restaurant is beautiful and is at a prime location..maybe that's why they are still busy. But when your food gets inconsistant, serves fishy yellowtail, and rolls that sometimes look messy(at slow ho...
Make sure to try one of their special sushi rolls, a must try. It's a great spot to take a first date. Don't go here to eat and run, sit and enjoy the atmosphere, people watch, have great conversation, and eat good food!
A restaurant with too much alcohol in their drinks and waiters who actually attend to you? Where do I sign up!?! I eat at Mura all the time and have never had a bad experience. I too went last Friday- there were super busy even with the fair in town, not "empty". I had the Screaming O and a Crunchy Salmon roll and they were both awesome. My carrot was cut like a butterfly and my husbands volcano ...
I was really excited to go here. I love Japanese food and had found this place online, highly recommended. I made a reservation online, but upon getting there and despite it being empty and slow for a Friday night, the hostesses had trouble seating us. The servers actually kept coming up to our table to the point of annoyance. The sushi was okay, no artistic presentation in the actual rolls, just...
This place rocked!!! Finally got to go with some friends who have been raving about this place. We sat in the lounge area and I was surprised to see how many wonderful things were on their menu. I just thought it was a little sushi joint, but it's not. This place has everything from sushi to Kobe beef. The waiter suggested the screaming "O" Roll and Piano roll since all I wanted was sushi and bot...
My friends took my out to dinner for my birthday and I must say that it was an awesome gift. The sushi and wasabi (not the paste) were very good and moderately priced. They have a wide selection of sushi and non-sushi items on the menu. My wife enjoyed a teriyaki chicken salad while the rest of us dove into a beautiful kane boat. Everything was great. The service was professional and knowled...
I was taken to Mura by a coworker for lunch. I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the food. The piano roll was excellent!! Service was very quick and nice decor too. Not the cheapest place in town, but definitely worth the price.
Mura's dining experience is top notch. The dining room's decor is inviting and tasteful, but if you like a more "public" dining experience, the lounge and sushi bar are great places to sit as well. The sushi was fantastic. I highly recommend the piano roll for avocado lovers and the surf and turf roll is a personal favorite that boasts a sliver of steak across the top of each piece. The servi...
I've never felt strongly enough to write a restaurant review before but I want to warn people how awful Mura is. I was EXTREMELY disappointed in the Spider roll that came with my sushi/roll combo. It had 2 1" long bits of soft shell crab in the whole roll (sticking out the ends) and these bits had almost triple the amount of tempura proportionate to the soft shell crab. The rest of the roll h...
I just ate at Mura with a friend. The decor is nice. The hostess was somewhat unfriendly. I had the Mura roll and my friend had the O roll. Both were great. I also had the miso soup, which was just ok. Our server was super, Tyler. He was very helpful and gave us some great suggestions. Overall, I liked it, but is not my favorite sushi place in raleigh.
we've tried every sushi place in town! Mura is the best. We like it. We like it a lot! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I Just came back from Muras and it was great! I had their O roll and the roll with avocado on it (i don't remember the name). I didn't even know they were there, used to go to other sushi places, but the place was rockin for a thursday night! i have told everyone to check it out and someone said put it on citysearch, so here i am! they even had a live guitar singer.. too cool.. i am a fan now...
I read the other two reviews, and I can't disagree more. I was also at the sushi event at Mura, and because the line was long, I didn't get any sushi, but when I told the servers about it, they offered me a gift card, refunding all my money for my trouble.
It gets busy there, I'll agree, but all those people are not there because they enjoy bad service. I have never had a negative experience...
So what if you have good sushi, is it worth it if you are treated poorly as a customer? Mura has a nice atmosphere and pretty good sushi, but their hostesses and wait staff are snobby and rude. I keep going back hoping to have a better experience than the last, but each time I return I am more disappointed than before. I think I am going to give up on this place changing. There are just as good p...

Loved the food and the knowledgeable and attentive personnel. Would most definitely recommend the seafood salad and any of the maki rolls. Ask for the home made wasabi. It's a little extra, but well worth it. I doubt there is another restaurant in the area that offers this alternative to the pea-grean horseradish paste that usually accompanies sushi. The quiet and subdued atmosphere inside the re...
This was my first experience of eating sushi. I just loved it!!! Mura's is a very upper class restaurant that makes you feel like you belong there. They service was great..
I didn't think I could love Sushi so much. Everything I sampled here was excellent and bursting with flavor. The drinks were well made and the waiter was knowlegable of the wines. I highly reccomend Mura.
LOVE the blue lights at the bar. Good food. Nice staff. BUT... try to reserve their tatami room and they act like THEY'RE doing YOU a favor. They demand a 20% tip (I thought tips were for good service after the fact!!), won't separate checks more than 4 times, then tell you you have an hour and a half time limit. Seems they take care of THEMSELVES, not the customer.
I'm sorry, but I am going to have to disagree with most of the reviews on here. I thought the sushi was below average at best. First of all, sushi should not come out less than 10 minutes after you order it. Maybe some people like that but I think it's a sign of pre-made rolls. The restaurant was busy yet our three rolls came out in less than 10 minutes. Plus, they were SMOTHERED in sauces. Sauce...
first - best sushi in raleigh. get the screaming o. the service there is great. bartenders and servers care about what you are getting and how much you enjoyed your evening. after reading a previous review about a management complaint- i would have to say i have had the opposite experience. they are more than accommodating and friendly and a disgruntled night at Mura is a one in a million chance....
I've been dinning at Mura for a couple of years, and I appsolutely love that place. They recently changed there GM & AGM and the attitude of the hole place has changed for the better. The food knowledge and the all around hustle of the staff and team work speaks for it's self! Keep up the good work guys. You have not lost me to Sono, see ya this weekend.
I've been to Mura before and always had a good time. The last time I went, however, the wait time was ridiculous, the food was good (not great) and the manager was incredibly rude. We waited 2 hours to get a table (after being promised a 30-45 minute wait); once at the table it took over an hour for our food to arrive and then after our plates were cleared from the table it took another 45 minute...
I recently had a craving for sushi and was told that Mura at Northhills was the best in town. There was a thirty minute wait which was fine, to me that confirmed what I had been told about there food. The hostess was very kind and I was told I would be seated A.S.A.P. I was taken to my table, very classy restaurant. The waiter arrived at the table and introduced his self. I was asked if I had e...
To be honest, I really have mixed feelings about this place. They have hands down the best sushi I have ever eaten, specifically the Scream'n O, however this place majorly lacks class. I just had a really bad experience last time I went there. I simply wouldn't suggest taking someone there your trying to impress just in case you have to confront the waitor/manager with a problem. I ordered the sc...
I've been to Mura quite a few times now and have always been happy...which is why I thought it was time to finally write about it and praise them! I sit at the bar or in the lounge area and always have a wonderful time with Deliah, Constatine and some of the others who are there all the time! These people know good food, and the servers are always helping when I bring someone new to pick out st...
My girlfriend and I have eaten here twice and both times were okay. The food was good but nothing really special. We both felt that the food and service at PF Changs is much better.
This past visit, we had asked for a to-go box and requested that they include some extra rice since we had already eaten most of the rice that was served with our meal. PF Changs does this without hesitation. O...
Wow Mura restaurant provided the best dinner, service and ambience of any restaurant I've eaten at in NC. We ate in a private room that was isolated from the rest of the restaurant using traditional Japanese paper walls. Once we got in the room we had our own table that was recessed into the floor so we would have seating, but still get the feel of sitting on the floor and eating food in the tra...
Every year in our aniversary we try a diferent place, this time we choose Mura and was a great experience. They reserved a private room for me and my husband to have our aniversary dinner, our server Constantino was a great help and give us a pleasure dinner with all his recomendations. Fair prices for the service and food. Great tuna stake, sushi one of the best I ever tried. Excelent wine...
I dine here regularly for business and personal. Best Sushi in town! Lunch deals are fantastic! Love the atmosphere!
I eat at Mura probably once a week on average, when I first moved to Raleigh it was my absolute favorite, but for the last month the service has been terrible. Its amazing to me that people (like me) can eat there probably 6-7 times a month and never once get a greeting from the manager. I always see him, I thought he was a customer at first. I normally sit in the lounge and although the wait sta...
I've been to this place quite a few times. I go back because most of the time I get good service and most of the time the sushi is great. It's weird though...sometimes it's good and sometimes it's bad. Best bet is go to the sushi bar. The kitchen food is ok..but not great. The firecracker shrimp is good but tempura shrimp was a rip off. It tasted good but too expensive. And the sushi..fin...
I love sushi and japanese cuisines. I've been trying out almost every single japanese restaurants around town since I've moved here from California. First time I visited this restaurant the service was bad and food was just ok. But since I love sushi and besides couple of other sushi joints in town, this is about as good as it gets...I gave it another try. This time around I sat at the sushi ...
I had head a lot of great things about Mura. So, was excited when I had the opportunity to meet a few friends there for dinner and drinks. I thought the service we received at the bar was excellent.
However, while we were seated at the table the service took a sudden down turn. Since I was relaxing with friends, I didn't mind waiting a little while for things. However, we were told that w...
Tips for a good time at Mura are sit at the bar and talk to the chefs. The menu at Mura isn't very good and there is a lot of great stuff that's not on there. There are also seasonal or hard to find fish that aren't listed on the menu because they don't always have them... Examples of great stuff I tried at Mura that isn't on the menu are The Screaming "O" roll, real Wasabi (not from powder), ...
I called in to make reservations for a party of 8 to sit on the patio and was told when I called that patio seating would be fine. When we got there we noticed the patio section was almost full, and definitely not enough room for 8 people. When I asked the answer to why it was almost full they didn't even have a record of an 8 party reservation. We waited for 25 minutes before being seated. 1...
the cali roll was good but the spicy tuna roll was okay and messy. Some of the slices were thin some were to thick and it wasnt very spicy The girl that took my take out was great and the dining room was empty but trendy -- I would try it again maybe to dine in :)
Lots of variety, very chic, however, I found the sushi to be just ok. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but overall better at other places. Particularly, the sashimi pieces were very thin in comparison.
I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!
Whoever tells you this place is not fantastic (if you love Japanese food and SUSHI) then they are WRONG. I dine there at least once a week. They have great specials, wonderful service, and best of all EXCELLENT FOOD. I don't know what else to say besides that this is MY FAVORITE RESTARUANT and would highly recommend it anyone I know.
Trust me, you will love it :)
Very good quality Sashimi, Roll's are ok, probably better on the Bar, but overall a absolut A ++++
Incredible service
Just went here the other night for the first time and was really pleased. We sat at the bar and just got a few sushi rolls before a movie, but wound up having a great time! I can't wait to go back and really get to try a lot of things on their menu. (I laughed because they have a roll called the "screaming o"...and yes, it is as good as it sounds....are you kidding me???!!!) Wonderful food, g...
This past weekend, some family and friends of mine decided to take a chance and check out Mura for some sushi. Not only was the food great, out server was the best that I have ever had. we sat in one of their private "tatami rooms" and Darrell was our server. This gentleman was not only knowledgeable, but actually had the courage to tell us when we made a bad selection from the menu and tell us ...
I would NOT recommend this restaurant at all! Even though Mura is fairly expensive, my husband and I chose to come here for dinner - we had a $50 coupon for this restaurant and decided to make use of it. (*Note - we have used coupons from this reputable restaurant website many, many times and have NEVER had a problem; every restaurant has accepted them and Mura is the ONLY one who would not - SE...
Great atmosphere, and LOVE the food (fresh). It has a good selection of non-sushi food, especially that my fiance does not eat raw fish. We both fell in love with the restaurant.
I gave them the benefit of the doubt the last time but now..... I will never go back. There are two other great sushi restaurants in town and both have always had a friendly and knowledgable staff. The service was slow (very slow) and very short w/ our party when we asked questions about the menu. The variety of nigiri is lacking compared to other sushi restaurants in town as well. The one p...
I ate at Mura in North Hills for the first time on Saturday night and was so pleased with the entire dining experience. There was only a short wait even though it was a weekend and the restaurant is so nice inside. I felt like I was back in New York even though I was in Raleigh. I have been looking for a place that has great sushi in this area and Mura has quality sushi and good drinks. Every...
Saturday I had the worst experience at Mura and will never go back. I called ahead at 10pm and asked if they could seat a party of 6 people. They confirmed yes, and would hold a table. We got there and they said we could not sit outside b/c the owner was taking our table. You would think the owner would want to accommodate a table of 6 people.
We were seated inside and waited at least 5 mi...
My husband and I wanted to try Mura for the first time and we were not impressed. When I asked about how they did reservations on the phone the woman I spoke to was very rude. Our service was not great at all and we had to wait a long time for our drinks and food. Overall, it was a waste of time and money. I did not havfe a good experience here and I will never go back.
I don't know if I would say this is the best Sushi I've ever eaten, but it is among the best in Raleigh. The rolls were creative, and not overly seasoned. We sat on the patio and it was quite refreshing, but the indoor atmosphere seemed trendy without being stuffy. The server was knowledgeable, and attentive without being overly pushy. The only disappointment was that the crab was not "fresh"...
Mura is my all time favorite place to dine, especially for sushi. I have tried almost all of their special rolls, and I have loved each one. The service is outstanding as well. The servers know exactly what they are doing, and each time that I dine they impress me more and more with their great service. The atmosphere is very unique. Whoever designed the restaurant really knew how to impress cust...
Ive been going here since they opened and i have seen a dramatic downfall in their service and food lately. I used to go in once a week the staff new me the manager was always aware of what i liked who i was and etc.. She used to take care of me now i dont know any of the people there and nobody seems to care about the quality of service. The food isnt great and the prices are something to laugh ...
First of all, the first thing i noticed when i walked into Mura, was the friendly, beautiful, caring hostesses. They greeted me with kindness and respect as soon as I walked into the door. Second, the food was absolutely amazing. I had the "screaming o" and i was crazy about it! Their food is close to a perfect dinner. If you love sushi, you should definatley check this place out. Great hostesses...
Mura in raleigh was a pleasant surprise. I moved to raleigh several months ago, and my overall impression of Raleigh is not that great. My dining experience here in Raleigh so far has been NOT good. But Mura was VERY good.
It is a beautiful place and the food is great. Sushi was good, the hot food(my date ordered the unagi don) was good too. The sashimi was fresh and the special rolls were c...
I cannot rate this restaurant because we were denied a table. Their closing time was at 10:00 PM and we arrived at 9:10 PM. The restaurant was far from busy and we were told they were no longer seating people. We are sushi lovers and we wanted to try this restaurant for our aniversary. We'll never find out if it's any good. We will not recommend this place to anybody just because of how unpl...
My family decided to celebrate my daughter's birthday at Mura. This was our first and probably last time there. We needed to eat early since I work early hours (start at 3:00 a.m.) and arrived at 5:30. It was a Sunday and not crowded at all. We did not receive our food for an hour and 50 minutes! Although the food was good, it was not worthy of such a long wait. Almost 2 hours!!! That's une...
My gf and I had been to Mura once before and despite the long wait, had a good time at the bar and enjoyed our sushi.
However, we were VERY disappointed with our last visit. My girlfriend ordered the Teriyaki Tbone and i had the pork roll katsu. We both had the potato croquettes as sides.
Her steak was terrible. They claim that its marinated for 36 hours.. we don't doubt this. The steak in ...
I have been a loyal customer to Mura for a while now and this is one of my favorite restaurants in the triangle. Food and service have been consistently stellar and they have some of the best specials running on Sunday-Wednesdays. I usually go on Tuesdays because they have $5 martinis and a buy one get one 1/2 price special on sushi rolls. EVERYTHING about this restaurant screams FABULOUS!
...
Several of my friends and I recently visited the restaurant and it was one of the best times I've ever had. We sat at the bar and was very impressed with the martini and wine choices. The bartender was very entertaining and made us several drinks that were his own creations. We ended up staying there until close and had a blast. The food was great, best I've had in Raleigh and the service was...
Went to Mura for the first time after I had heard it was the only place in the triangle with sushi comparable to Waraji. Mura is the kind of sushi place for people who do not normally eat sushi, as the rolls are practically all the same. I ordered sashimi style yet what I received was one sliver of fish on a rice roll wrapped in seaweed. I have never seen sashimi served with rice, and such tin...
I went to Mura for the first time last night, and had to immediately let the triangle know how wonderfrul this little place is. It's across from Gold's Gym at North Hills, and I stopped in to try some sushi after working out. What a beautiful place!!! I sat in the lounge area and was surprised to see how many wonderful things were on their menu. I just thought it was a little sushi joint, but...
My God am I crazy about this place! Finally some actual authentic culture in our lovely city. How can you walk into Mura and not fall in love with the place? You would have to be a true hill billy or tasteless human being if you can overlook the attention to detail that the owners and staff have given this lovely restaurant. The blue bar had me in awh when I walked in, I gazed over and saw the ba...
Mura at North Hills is a phenomenal restauant. I just recently attended the restaurant for the first time. As soon as I walked into the door and saw the atmosphere i knew i was in for a great dining experience. My server a young man named Jeff was most helpful. I didnt know what to get and he thoroughly explained some of the great items on your menu. The sushi was the best i have had since i...
This is by far some of the best sushi I've ever had, and I've eaten sushi in asian districts in major cities all around the country. Hot entrees are really great as well, but I like to stick to what I know (Though I really think they have the best filet in the area. Not even the $70 Kobe, but the regular $23 8 oz filet. If the cheaper one is that good, I can only imagine what the Kobe tastes Like...
I've lived in Raleigh for 4 years and have eaten at almost all of the sushi restaurants-Sushi Blues, Toyko House, Waraji, Sushi-Thai, Kashin, Wasabi, etc...Mura has been the best out of all of these....The sushi that I have ordered has been extremely tasty and while a bit pricey, worth it...The atmosphere is romantic and cozy...The service has been hot and cold, on one occasion we had a server wh...
In the past, I've had good food and good service at Mura. The sushi, while not the best I've ever had, was decent and the atmosphere is nice. With that said, I will never go back to Mura because my last experience was terrible.
The sushi was awful. The rolls were loose and cut too thin...the sashimi cuts were sub-par. The rice looked like regular long grain white rice and was hard/tastel...
I've eaten here twice, and both times I was astonished at how often the waiter came and chatted at our table. On the first visit, I chalked it up to a strange experience since we got to see his family photos - but the second time it happened with a different waiter. He showed up at the table on average every 3 minutes. Since we were discussing confidential business, we had to stop every time. Wa...
I recently stopped into Mura at North Hills. This was my first visit and let me tell you it was excellent. There was a wine tasting going on at the time so we got to mooch a few glasses of free wine. I found out later on that these tastings are quite frequent at Mura and that live music will be going on in the near future. I am very excited to to check it out again very soon. The food was very ta...
I would like to comment on the wonderful experience I had at Mura. First off I was really impressed with the atmosphere of this place. The decor is ultra hip at the same time very romantic. Whoever designed this place did a wonderful job. The service was a little slow (to be expected on a saturday night), but well worth the wait. The food was amazing! There is an extensive list of special rolls a...
My wife and I decided to meet another couple out at Mura after hearing good reviews. Upon our arrival the restaraunt appeared busy but nothing out of the ordinary for a Saturday night. We were able to get a table immediately at the bar area. The waitress took our order, brought back drinks where we then proceeded to order. Then we waited, waited some more, and continued to wait. I inquired ...
I have a great love for sushi and was extremely excited about experiencing the new sushi place in North Hills. Like most North Hills restaurants I was expecting excellent service and fine dining. Not only did my guest and I have to wait an hour and a half for a table on a Wed night after we were told the wait would be only 20 minutes, but when I spoke with the hostess she seemed uninterested wit...
I just got back from Muras and all I can say is "wow!" I went there because they were voted best in raleigh by citysearch and sometimes they're for real, and sometimes it's just a popularity contest. Muras is both. It was busy, but not too busy, bar is great for people watching. And the rolls, wow, I had the piano, lobster and something with beef on it. So good, very creative. The sashimi w...
Mura offers interesting variety of rolls and very tasty. If you focus on the details, there are things they do that aren't very Japanese while they presented as if it is (kind of funny). The menu has photos of the dishes which is diner friendly. Overall a great place to have a sushi dinner and the atmosphere is nice as well.
loved mura. the sushi was very very good. nice presentation. awesome service, not overly formal or stuffy but attentive. decor and atmosphere great. forgo the pork roulade dish (it was overcooked).
I've been to Mura three times and had a wonderful experience everytime. I work in North Hills and Mura is becomming one of my favorite spots to take clients. It isn't cheap, but the atmosphere is fabulous. The service has been incredible. The manager even played Phantom of the Opera on the grand piano for us.
I recently took a group of 10 people there and was glad I did. The food, service and atmosphere were all outstanding. It was a Wednesday Night and there was a comfortable crowd there and the speed of service was great. We all appreciated the wide variety of food options and really enjoyed some unusal Sushi choices like Surf & Turf with Filet Mignon. My favorite by far was called the Hard Rock...
For my birthday this year, my friends and I reserved a tatami room and had so much fun. You get a buzzer so you can page your server whenever you need something, and the rooms are beautifully appointed. The food is very good, I personally like the Nippon Spider and Hard Rock rolls. If you're looking for somewhere special to dine, I would definitely recommend spending the $27 for a tatami room
My husband and I were very excited when we found out that Mura had Kobe beef after we had just experienced this exquisite beef in NYC. However, the steaks they served at Mura were nothing like we expected. They were "good" steaks but I can't imagine they were actually Kobe Wagyu beef as advertised. The price was outrageous for what was actually served. One of our friends decided to get seafoo...
I was excited to try this highly recommended restaurant, but the overall experiece was just so-so. Service was good, but my entree of the miso lamb rib chops was undercooked and cold. I ordered medium rare, what I got was a quick sear as one would do with a tuna steak, seems to me that the kitchen has one way to do things. The side of vegetables was lukewarm..I am unsure if it was to be a hot ...
Okay, so my husband and I made this our restaurant of choice while in Raleigh for our 5th yr wedding anniversary. Only negative of the night, the server. Host was very pleasant with great attitude, but server left lots to be desired. He was very cold and unwelcoming. However, our food made up for that negative. Started out with California Rolls as that is all the sushi we know. Ordered one ...
When I first walked in I was blown away by the decor. Definetly not something I thought I would find in Raleigh! My experience there was wonderful. The food was excellent and the service was as good as any I've had in this area. What i was most surprised to find is that they run specials Sun thru Wed. The specials vary from nite to nite, but they are really good deals. I happened to be there on t...
While the sushi is okay, the atmosphere, service, Kobe steaks, and sake selection are the real winners with this restaurant. This is a great place to celebrate a birthday or anniversary. I miss Shin Kai -- now they knew sushi.
I could not wait to try this restaurant with The Triangle Singles Dining Out Group (Meetup). We went and had a FABULOUS dinner... We all got various sushi dishes, and everyone was raving about how delicious everything was...
I didn't like the batter on my Fried Ice Cream, but that didn't dampen my night, as the rest was the BEST I have had anywhere!
The service was good, atmosphere excell...
This place was such a surprise...and we even were told ahead of time that it was amazing! It's that good. My husband and I giggled our way through dinner over the awesome food and setting. I can't wait to go back. Our waiter was a little dry, but some people just don't have great social skills. They're good at other things. We ate an appetizer, three modern sushi rolls, dessert, and had two...
We were thrilled with the interior of the restaurant, and the food is to die for! Especially the deserts.....we were seated quite quickly and drinks are excellent. Sadly it appears that there is no joy in the waitstaff. Seems to have some looming atmosphere I wish I could put my finger on.... Would be best to lighten up a bit or something? Anyway, it's a keeper, and will be back!Try the Punk...
Mura is an excellent restaurant for a special romantic dinner, saki or cocktails and appetizers at the bar, or a superb lunch. I am delighted to have this excellent restaurant in the area. The sashimi is superb and the sushi rolls are delicious and creative. The environment is beautiful and elegant. I'm from CA where I was a regular at Matsuhisa. I was certain I would never find great sushi and s...
Mura is absolutely the best place in the triangle for a romantic evening with out of this world sushi. My wife Lisa and I have been several times and it is worth mentioning that prior to our first visit Lisa didn't like sushi. She is now the reason why we frequent this restaurant monthly. Great atmosphere, excellent service, and incredible sashimi grade fish. Be sure to make reservations!
The first time I ate here, I couldn't get enough. The next time, however, was a serious letdown. The sushi tasted old and cheap. The sauces started running together on our sushi boat, making it hard to decipher between bites. Although the atmosphere and ambiance are great, the price of the food leaves more to be desired. Swanky North Hills will still draw a crowd to Mura, but I'd suggest loo...
I can only review the sushi, as this is what my friends and I came to check out. The nigiri (pieces with rice ball) honestly reminded me of dollar sushi night at a local joint. The fish was not spoiled, but was of the lowest quality possible (aka grocery store sushi). The rolls were magnificently displayed in the menu with full color photos, but were relatively small when they arrived. The...
Whether you like Japanese food or not, it is the absolute BEST place I have been in the six years I have lived in NC! The service was excellent, Food ..even better! they specialize in Japanese food but they have a steak that will put any steak house to shame. I cannot stress the excitement I felt walking into this place. I give it 2 thumbs up and 110% in every area. The owners didnt leave out any...
We have had dinner at Mura 4 or 5 times now, and not once have we been disappointed. The service is helpful and attentive. The sushi is fresh, the special rolls are huge, and the entrees are wonderful. We have enjoyed the punk rock roll, hard rock roll, seafood combo, firecracker shrimp, and the desserts. And we love that the food is organic. One of our favorite restaurants, sushi or not.
I've eaten at Mura more than any other restaurant this since they opened, and the food has always been stellar. They are truly a wonder for getting so much right within their first year, and will be around for a long time if they continue to do so. Congratulations to James, Jason and the Mura staff for their recent awards from citysearch. The atmosphere puts to shame any sushi restaurant in Ralei...
I was really suprised to read the unhappy reviews lately. I just had lunch at Mura and it was great! The service was right on, and the food was nicely prepared, of great quality and tasted yummy! I can't wait to take my husband back for a nice treat!
After reading the reviews, we were looking forward to great sushi --the best since we moved here from the bay area. We had the chef's choice and we each ordered a different special roll (mine was the punk rock). The sushi was ok -- nothing great, the service poor, and the rice had a funny taste to it. What was great was the seaweed salad. All in all, we are still looking for good sushi and won't ...
We tried Mura on our way to the movies and it was the best thing we have done in a long time. The sushi here was easily some of the best I have ever eaten. The hard rock roll is fabulous, as is the spicy tuna crunch. Everything was expertly prepared and presented and even though they were supposedly short handed that night we were accomodated without a reservation and the service was knowledge...
my husband loves to eat sushi. i do not. after visiting north hills and going to the mura website, i noticed that the menu offered more than sushi, so i told him i would go. I ordered the filet, it was cooked perfectly. my husband indulged in the sushi rolls, and left in pain from over eating. I was persuaded to try the sushi and i found that it melted in my mouth. I was very surprised. Mura beca...
If you are looking for the best sushi and dining atmosphere in the triangle, THIS IS THE SPOT!!! From the flat screens that rotate pictures of the unique rolls, the north hills location and the extremely fresh fish, these guys have are at the top of the list.
If you have been eating sushi or japanese food in the triangle and haven't tried Mura out yet, then you are missing out! The first thing you noticed about Mura is the elegant decor and big city ambiance...We sat at the sushi bar and had their highly trained and friendly staff prepare the highest quality sushi I have ever had! When you taste the sushi from Mura you will realize that you will nev...
I've dined at Mura twice since their doors opened last year. Mura offers wide variety of sushi rolls and very fresh fish! Also, the restaurant owner prepares all sauces organically. The ambience is modern/urban with a classy, elegant and upscale casual feel. What sets Mura apart is their dinner menu, which offers to more than just the avid sushi patron. Their menu has 3 steaks and several seafood...
Great new restaurant. The food is fantastic, lovely place. The bar is fun and they have unique cocktails. Even lunch is great. I have had mostly sushi, but the avocado salad and the seaweed salad are really great. Everything is a great value. The quality of the fish is better than any other sushi bar in Raleigh. Nobody beats the sashimi at Fins, but no other traditional sushi bar comes close to M...
