  4. Tasty, Friently, and Fun
Went on a date here with my gf. The staff was SUPER nice and friendly. Our waiter was fun and offered great recommendations. The wine was priced low but was amazing. Had the crab cakes app, not the best but were still good...then had the fondu dinner and it was very good. Didnt have room for desert. The space has nice decor but is a little cold and bland.

  5. Excellent Eats!
The mussels are among the best I've ever had (including in Ireland!). The broth just begs for a ton of their fresh bread to sop it up. The cheese plate boasts a great selection and combine and complement well. Service was great, epecially since the place was nearly empty. The atmosphere is warm and inviting- we will visit again during our next trip to the city.

  6. Great place to eat!
Food is delicious with an amazing menu! There's something for everyone! Ordered mussels and cheese fondue for appetizer, and for entree, we had the meat fondue.... all absolutely delicious. No complaints! Great ambience! Great place to go with friends, on a date, or even with a group!

  7. To avoid if you are looking for a Real Meat Fondue
I have to say that paying $35 for boiled meat is crazy...Partly our fault for being used to a real Meat Fondue (meat cooked in oil) and not paying attention to the menu where it says "served with Beef Broth". We decided to give it a try but were so disappointed that we asked the waiter if anything could be done he could not take any initiative and had to ask the maitre d' . She was not very help...

  8. "Brilliant Choice" for a great evening.
I was looking for an interesting choice for a restaurant to celebrate my birthday. I found Swizz through an online search, and obsessively checked as many reviews as possible. (one of the guests in our party is notoriously "difficult" in his food opinions.) I must say that the entire evening was excellent. From the professionalism to the response of my online reservation, I sensed this woul...

  9. Mediocre Food, Way Too Pricey
The food was very very bland. Our fondue had had almost no flavor, and the sauces were decent but didn't overcome the blandness. It wasn't that the food was bad... it just wasn't really anything. It definitely was not worth the $100 tab for two people. If you're looking to spend this kind of money, I would strongly recommend going elsewhere. Also, the place smelled like stale cheese.

  10. Maybe Next Time...
I'm not really a fan. Bad ser vice for one. We ordered a few courses and from appetizers to entrees we had to wait forever. They had cleared one an it was literally 20 minutes before anything else came out. That normal? I know we're supposed to savor the wine but I wasn't e ven that into the wine. I don't know what our server was doing but she seemed more interested in talking to the other server...

  11. Odd place...wouldn't recommend
We went here for a friend's bday to have fondue. The appetizers came and the food was OK. We'd ordered a bottle of wine and I drank about a half glass and my friend about a fourth when we both ended up with fruit flies in our glasses. We alerted who I think was the host - some small, weird Swiss guy. Anyway he basically said he would either give us each a different glass of wine each (remember we...

  12. Amazing fondue
For our girl's night out, my friends and I decided to try Swizz. Could not have chosen better! We each had the fondue with a wine that was suggested by our waiter - delicious. The chocolate dessert fondue was to die for. Great place - will go back!

  13. OK date place
I was there on a date and it was an OK setting. It was dark and romantic inside with the red lined walls but it felt overdone. The front area of the bar was cramped but there were plenty of seats in the back.

  14. Highly recommended!
My husband and I had the pleasure of dining at Swizz last Saturday night ...We were celebrating my husband?s Birthday. We started with the chicken-duck and black truffle pate with apple celery salad. Followed by the traditional cheese fondue with apples and air-dried beef. The bottle of white wine from Switzerland, recommended by our waiter, worked perfectly with our amazing fondue. We finish...

  15. Fantastic Fondue and Fabulous Service!!
First of all, I was impressed before we even arrived at Swizz as they let us make a reservation for after the theatre, during the week, at 11:15pm. Granted, it wasn't busy when we arrived and I was sure we'd feel rushed but I was wrong. The server was very friendly and accommodating and made sure that we had everything we needed. The food was amazing -- a salad and the fondue was enough to sat...

  16. Excellent Fondue and Wine, Arrive earlier than your reservation frazzled maitre'd
I took a couple out of town guests for dinner at Swizz last Saturday night and YUMMY!!! We really enjoyed everything we ate and drank. The Steamed P.E.I Mussels were phenomenal as was the Caser Salad we enjoyed before our fondue pots arrived at our table. We ordered the Traditional (for 3) and the waiter was kind enough to suggest we also order the Herb (for 1) just to try it. We got dried ...

  17. Best fondue in the city
I am a bit of a fondue-hunter in the city, especially when it comes to dessert fondues. Who could imagine how great Toblerone fondue could be?? The staff at Swizz are exceptional attentive, and very kind. While the fondue platters are meant to serve only 2 people, they were quick to accommodate our party of three and adjust the amount (and price) of the platter accordingly. Based on the ser...

  18. Major attitude from staff!!!
Terrible experience! Eighteen of us went there for a dinner party. Everything was fine until the end when the bill came. Since we had a large party, they included the gratuity on the check, which was expected. However, we realized they added the tip on the total after tax, not the subtotal, which essentially meant we had to pay about $175 more. The manager was rude and obnoxious when we brough...

  19. Nice Atmosphere, Good Food
We had a nice dinner on a wednessday night. It was not very crowded but we still made a reservation. We had a pleasent experience except the line for the one bathroom was quite long. All we wanted to do was wash are hands, but there is only one restroom for both men and women. The host was very friendly, and accomadating. The food was very good, quite heavy but it's what you'd expect when eating ...

  20. WOW. Great service & great fondue!
This is a top 10 place in every single way. It's probably the best customer service my gf and I have ever had (we went for a Valentine's Day dinner), the fondue was incredible, the prices were fair, the decor was really nice. They go the extra touch...hiring knowledgable and friendly Swiss staff and waiters. A Totally Hidden Secret, as it's just off 8th avenue and most people miss it. This is...

  21. Best kept secret, great Swiss in Theatre/MOMA district
We had a party here, and it was terrific. The management did everything possible to make the event run flawlessly, and as a result, everyone told us that they loved the food and the place, and asked how we had found it. The room is pretty and warm, with brick walls and a floor to ceiling set of shelves with wines, and the service attentive but unobstrusive. We had raclette, which was excellent,...

  22. Nice staff, ver average fondue.
for me a good fondue is just cheese and wine cooked together, and then the sides (potatoes, cured ham ...). At Swizz, there is something in the fondue that should not be there (bad cheese? Flour maybe? Or some other starch ... ) ... as a result it will not be unforgettable. On the other hand, the staff was very friendly and place rather nice for Times Square (although a bit cramped). we were ...

  23. it's good for older kids; early dinner hour
I went to Swizz with my 14y daughter and her friend. We had a great time. The fondue was listed as an appetizer but it could be a meal. We had the chocolate fondue for dessert. Both were exquisite. The cheese was so good. It comes with bread cubes but we added sausage and broccoli. The dessert was wonderful. We ordered the large but didn't finish it. The wine selection was exceptional.

  24. Not Swiss exactly, but Swizz is close enough
My partner and I went to Swizz for our 5th Anniversary. We used to live in Switzerland and were craving a good fondue. Swizz definately provided the flavor. While there is only 1 fondue on the menu (it's moie-moie), it's quite good. Unfortunately, there wasn't even enough cheese in ours for us to get through all the bread they gave us. They also didn't scrape the cheese at the bottom (which is t...

  25. Great food, avoid on major holidays
You'd hope on Valentine's Day they'd have a few extra servers on hand - didn't get water for 20 minutes, first course for an hour after seated. Food was excellent though and (almost) worth the wait. Just wish the service had been up to par, as it really put a damper on the romance factor. Check it out, but not when you know it'll be busy!

  26. Great find!
I just hosted a bridal shower for 14 ppl at Swizz--and it was perfect! We reserved the wine cave (a private party room) and it was the perfect setting for a small shower. Everyone loved the food (you must have the chocolate fondue) and the service was great. I would definitely go back there again.

  27. Incredible Service, Unique Food
Awesome place in every way. The service is flawless, the prices are decent, the scene is serene, the theme is unique, and the food is fabulous. The basement is a nice intimate area to dine and the music is decent. Anyone who is looking for something different should come here for the perfect date, the group outing, or the curious palette.

  28. Very good and interesting food
Theres something for everyone on the menu, everything from a simple pasta to crazy swiss meals that ive never heard of. You cant go wrong because everything is good. Any bottle of wine is $22, red or white. Tips: request to site in the wine sellar, it is more secluded and ambience is much more romantic. Feel free to ask the staff any questions, because they are very helpful, everyone was extr...

  29. A winner on food, service, location and wine!
We dined here recently and had a fantastic evening! The staff were all friendly.....and knowlegable. The menu is different with cheese raclette, various fondues and has enough choice to satisfy everyone. One very interesting concept a "wall of wine" mostly California..some Swiss wines...all $22 a bottle and many names that you know, in addition to a regular list by the glass and bottle. I had ve...

  30. Midtown Treasure
Both the Cheese and the Chocolate Fondue are the best around! They have a great wine list to compliment thier Swiss-American menu. I had the special (Venison) and it was fantastic! I try not to eat it often because if not cooked correctly, it can be "gamey" but this was very tender and juicy! Staff was amazing, the chef even came to ask how our meal was! Very Classy!
