I had visited the restaurant once before with the urging of my friend. I took my daughter and we both enjoyed, I got the special (quiche lorraine) and my daughter got a croissant sandwhich. Although I was not sure who my server was, I was well taken care of. I returned with my son and friend, and we saw our waitress twice. Once was to take our food order, and when she finally came back she w...
I would like to respond to Noelia's comments about The Pear Tree. I am also Hispanic and I eat there all the time, and not one time have I ever been treated with anything but the utmost respect and friendliness. It appears to me that her ultimate goal was not to knock The Pear Tree, but to get in a positive plug for a nearby and competing restaurant, the Central Texas Style BBQ Restaurant. By t...
I had the worst service yesterday and the food is not all that great anyway I have had better at subway. I do not know if its because its under new inexperienced management but I did not like what I saw.
The prices are to much for very little food. Times have changed for the worst. Do not expect to get friendly service here. I walked in did not get a menu or a smile, two other party's came...
I use to eat at the tea room 30 years ago when it was just a small building with a little white swing on the front porch. I loved it. I have been to the new location once but it's just not the same. but it's still wonderful. I would love to get a recipe for the chicken salad, if anyone has it? my mom and i are going to try and make some sandwiches this weekend and get together with the kids and ...
The Pear Tree was owned by my mother. She owned it for almost 10 years. She sold the business to the "manager" about a year ago. I grew up on this food- it is wonderful. The desserts really are the best. It seems that the new owner has odd hours, I would suggest calling ahead. People have commented that the service is poor but I have to disagree. The restaurant is extremely busy during lun...
The food is awesome. I am getting chubby after what i ate there, because i couldnt turn down the opportunity to eat there. :) I loved going after the rush because there is limited seating but the night shift always made me happy. I loved the chicken sandwich, along with the pumpkin beard sandwich. The veggie soup is to die for...And every now and then kara would make a great cheesecake too. I rem...
Wow, What a mixed bag of attributes for this little restaurant. I've been eating at the Pear Tree for years and the food just keeps getting better and better and the service just keeps getting worse.
They still refer to themselves as a Tea Room, but it is more of a Cafe than a real Tea Room. However they do have a spiced tea that is absolutely delicious.
Overall, their food is Great. ...
I have visited the Pear Tree for several years now and it is the "greatest". Some days you do have to wait a little longer than I would like but, it you are with good friends what does it matter! Great place for the "girls" to eat and catch up. If you are fortunate enough to go on a Saturday that they are serving the Shrimp Salad stuffed in an avocado, you must try it. I counted 3 dozen larg...
The food was delicious but the service was horrible. We constantly had to ask for drink refills and when we asked for the manager it became worse. The manager was the person that we noticed was too busy flirting with his female wait staff instead of running things. Wont go back again unless someone calls in an order.
We LOVE Pear Tree- the special is the best and the spiced tea is amazing, a pitcher is very reasonable and serves the whole table. My only complaint- in MANY visits is that the hours are fickle. I have always had great service, prompt ordering/serving, and been told thank you/come again on the way out every time. It is frustrating though to have a craving, load up your mom, sister, and friends...
I don't live in the area, but was there for a shower a few weeks ago. The food was really good, but service was a little slow. There was about 10 of us and the food we got quickly, but we all ran out of our iced tea and had to ask for more. I did notice our waitress standing by the restrooms while we sat with nothing to drink. The shrimp salad was very good, but too many bell peppers for me. The ...
Responding to brit02 regarding the service, perhaps this person does not realize that the busy condition of the restaurant was because of the GOOD SERVICE and FOOD! We have been going since the day it opened and yes there have been times I wish the service was quicker, but guess what, you call in your order and it will be ready to pick up then you go eat where you please. Won't be as much fun a...
I love this place!
Their Pear Tree Special is awesome!
My favorite soup is "taco" soup, dessert? of course....Chocolate Coke Cake is the best...you have to try it!
Also they sometimes have some great daily specials....shrimp salad, chicken enchiladas, ham & brocoli quiche, etc.
Is a small but really nice place where you can eat w/your friends during the week for early lunch or Saturdays befo...
We went on a Friday for lunch. There was only one waitress for almost all the occupied tables. She was clearly overworked and the owner needs to hire more help. The greeter that led us to the table never smiled and was not friendly.
The food was delicious! The Taco Soup was outstanding. It is basically a Minestrone Soup with hamburger meat and a sprinkle of shredded cheddar on top. The c...
My first and last experience was AWFUL!!!!!! We went during lunch hours and our waitress was unbelievably rude. She was obviously overwhelmed with too many tables and took her frustration out on our table. She made several mistakes and took no responsibility and was offended when asked to correct it. We spoke to the manager and she acted as we were an annoyance and ignored us and kept working. I ...
The experience was fine until we received a dirty knife, a cold cup of soup and a salad that just consisted of lettuce. After politely asking for the fruit salad instead we were yelled at and told that that's what we ordered and there was no need for a substitution. Eventually, she just brought 1 of the fruit salads that we requested. She yelled at us again about a billing issue that was clear...
The experience was fine until we received a dirty knife, a cold cup of soup and a salad that just consisted of lettuce. After politely asking for the fruit salad instead we were yelled at and told that that's what we ordered and there was no need for a substitution. This was the worst customer service I've ever experienced from a waitress and owner when trying to resolve an issue with service.
I've only eaten once at the new location. I am partial to the original location and atmosphere, since I was going when I was just a fetus! My mom ate here for years and when I was born, I was raised on the food.
The new location is too small, and the parking is a complete nightmare.
The spiced tea is outstanding, the pumpkin bread is out of this world, and the pb&j is addictive. Get the speci...
I've been eating at the Pear Tree for years. They have relocated a few times and were not open for a while. They have the BEST soups. The broccoli cheese soup, queso soup, and taco soup are really good. They chicken salad sandwiches are awesome too. Their new location has the charm of a deli. ALso their spiced hot tea is great!!
PROS: Great food.
CONS:
This place is a treat! Great food and drinks! The decor is quaint but not too overbearing with "fru-fru" stuff.
