Happy Hour at Medjool was fantastic. The Chicken Skweres and the Meat Balls were to die for. So was the Puff Pastry Pizza. The olives, pita chips and Lebna that is served as you sit for Happy Hour was delicious. So was tHe Bread pudding we tried out. Our server Jacob was superb. It was a great experience and food was to simply delicious. We will be back. Great food, Good Selection of Wine & Gre...
I attended a friends going away dinner there and lets just say eat before you go! place is very nice but the portions are way too small. good to hang!
I went to Medjool last week for a friends birthday. The apps were delish! At 11 it turns into a dance club and it was a blast. The rooftop had at least 300 people on it dancing and carrying on. The inside wasn't as crowded so we stayed in but you have the option to hang on the front patio overlooking Mission Street, I enjoyed that too. The couches and seating are super comf and the music was...
Medjool has a warm and inviting atmosphere, but I was disappointed with service from the moment we sat down. One person in our party was served 20 minutes after everyone else. One person was charged twice and one person was charged more than five times what she signed for on the receipt. The management and owner was unapolegetic- and wasted precious vacation time to get things rectified. Truly di...
Had drinks here with friends- it was pretty nice and there was a great view of the Mission craziness below but food and drinks are spendy.
I've only been here once for an event on the rooftop and it was a rare warm night in the city. Great place for food and drinks. Mint mojitos were really good.

Nice eatery, I come here once in a while to catch the view. They also have great service, and fine dining in the evenings. Especially great on a warm day.
side step the hipsters and head to the roof top - best view in town, great crowd. lovely. best time of year to come is the fall when the warm nights are with us, and you can just hang out outside and soak up san francisco.
great place to hang out for drinks and light tapas. Especially enjoy the roof bar which can get incredibly crowded on fridays and saturday evenings. The music isn't too bad also. I would recommend medjool as an early evening spot to hang out, and if you crave something different, head out to brunos or skylark.
CAME IN HERE YESTERDAY TO CHECK OUT THE SKY TERRACE. AMAZING VIEW!!!! (AND IN THE MISSION, I MIGHT ADD) DECENT COCKTAILS. A BIT OVERPRICED, BUT GOOD. IT GOT A BIT COLD SO WE WERE GOING TO HEAD DOWN TO EL FARALITO FOR SOME BURROS, THEN WE DECIDED TO EAT AT THE RESTAURANT DOWNSTAIRS. HOSTESS WAS REALLY SWEET. WE DIDN'T HAVE A RESERVATION, BUT SEEING THAT IT WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY, WE WERE PROMPTLY ...
Whatever you do...no matter how hungry you are- DO NOT order any food! Whatever it is will be cold (unless it's supposed to be, in which case it will be warm), tiny in proportion to what is described,
I'm not saying a chic small portion, I'm talking about an ounce of poor grade Ahi cut into a $12 appetizer and dry as sandpaper, poorly seasoned, and poorly presented.
Well I agree with Eryn L. that the view from the Medjool rooftop is amazing, the quality of the food has gone way down, while the prices have been going way up. Medjool use to be one of favorite haunts a few years back, but since then the management catered more to the twenty-somethings trying to keep their food from coming up vs. people who just want a good meal. But hey, don't take my word for ...
This place is so unique to the diverse range of restaurants here in San Francisco, that i am surprised it was not thought of a long time ago. We went on a busy Saturday night and we were well taken care of. We had no reservations, the hostes was very friendly and got us seated very quickly. Our drinks were really good and the appetizers were good, a little on the small portion side. We ended up...
Overpriced and mediocre food. Fish (bacalao) cakes could be mistaken for not having fish (mostly potato). Also, service was slow. After spending over $40 per person, some people went down to the street to get a burrito. Don't waste your time or money eating here.
Yes it is too bad another restaurant we will not be going to again due to bad service. My family (all adults) party of nine went there for dinner sunday night early at six o'clock only a couple of other people where there with us. The waitress started out friendly in the beginning giving us her spiel about how they give one person portions but usually people share to try new food out etc. blah ...
I had a blast on Medjools roof top patio with a group of friends. If you like small plates of exotic food, good drinks and a great place to hang out on a Sunday. Check out this Mission hide out. The servers are nice and courteous. I will try the downstairs dinning room next.
We went to Medjool during the week so it was not crowded and the only people there were for the food. I really liked the Grilled Hanger Steak, Seared Sea Scallops and the Grilled Lamb Sirloin. The baba ganoush and tabuoli with pita was good too. The place looked pretty impressive...large eating area, open kitchen, really high ceilings. Crazy roof deck. Too bad it was crappy outside. The serv...
I must say, this restaurant has always been one of those "hit-or-miss places"- that is, hitting or missing a night that this incredible hostess is working. She's totally on top of her game (got us a table without a reservation in about 20 minutes on a completely full night ) and running (literally at times) the show. While having our drink at the bar, my buddy and I were commenting on her genuine...
I used to like Medjool, I even gave them some slack for giving my group bad service on a Tuesday night with no one else in the entire restaurant. But after this last time I'll never, ever go to this "bar" ever again. I was so rudely treated by thier thug security staff, physically acosted for wearing a hat and told to leave immediately...FOR NO REASON. Ok, I was wearing a hat, but so were 50 othe...
Wow! Medjool is the bar I always dreamed about when I was 17 years old and had never been to a bar. Wait in a long line, have some guy in a suit tell me I can go in, pay a cover... Why pay a cover? Because it's worth it! Sure, you could probably go to half a dozen other bars within 1 block - but you and a thousand other tourists can rest assured that by paying a cover at Medjool you're getti...
Went to Medjool on Saturday night for the first time with a couple of friends and Had a great time. The food was delicious, all tapas style. The service was very friendly, and attentive. The guys that work there are really good looking too! We ended up staying for the late night music, and we couldn't stop dancing, good music. We all left very happy. Thank you Medjool
Recently went back to medjool this past week, and i must say thinhgs have changed quite a bit. I see all new faces, new servers, new mangement. Even the food tastes soo much better. Whatever they did it worked. This place is finally living up to the hype. We went on a gorgeous day to the rofftop bar. The bartenders were extremely friendly and the mojitos were really good and fresh. It seemed lik...
This had been our second time here at lovely Medjool, and to be honest with you it was even better than the first! We (me and my wife) brought our parents in last night and we were all in awe. This place is so beautiful that we had to stop and take pictures of the hanging chandeliers. We were approached by a friendly host and we were seated right away. Our waitress was extremely friendly and sinc...
Four of us were excited to try Medjool on a recent Friday night but we were all underwhelmed after all the hype about the place. The menu contained at least a dozen items that sounded fabulous but we found the flavors to be uneven.
The cherry tomato and fava bean bruschetta was delicious and flavorful (despite the appearance of only TWO fava beans on the bruschetta), with the fresh herbs si...
Me and a few of my friends decided to go to Medjool this past weekend for dinner. We were seated promtly and were served pretty quickly. The place was packed, so i was expecting our waiter to be a bit slow. He managed to take care of us great! We ended up staying late for the late night dancing and we had a BLAST! Thanks Medjool
Had heard good things about Medjool - althought the chronicle review was not very good, and turned out to be spot on. Some of the dishes were good - the stuffed eggplant and calamari, some were not so good - braised pork loin (tasted like dirty socks) and the meatballs - must have been from out of a can. The service was also lacking at best. My wife ordered the pepper soup and it came without ...
After reading all the reviews about this place. i decided to finally check it out for myself. I think based on the capacity of this place, i think this place is quite good. The only comment that i have was it was a bit too loud to hold a conversation. Our food was very good, a little small on the portions, but overall great flavors! The service was attentive yet not excellent. We were pleased wi...
This past weekend the weather was just right to head over to none other than the famous roof top bar at Medjool. I couldn't think of a better place to be this past warm sunny sunday. We arrived in the afternoon around 1:00 p.m. had tons of mojitos and bloody marys, ate some great food and listened to some cool music and it was packed! The service was good and the view was to die for. The only p...
We paid too much for bottle service/VIP lounge area. The areas are used as walkways, the mixers were wrong, the waitress barely checked on us and Andy, the "events" staff person was not responsive nor replied to our email after the booking.. The "waitress" would not take any other drink orders after our bottles were served, she was rude. The mezzzanine area is too crowded, there is NO crowd c...
I've been wanting to check this place out for some time. What a great concept! You have it all wrapped up in one very unique retaraunt right here in san francisco. I went there on a friday night and enjoyed it very much. The only thing was that the porions were just a little small, tapas. Very good service and the drinks were were pretty good too. I really loved the ambience of the place especia...
First of all, their website explicitly said no cover on Fridays.. so invite a bunch of my friends and at the door they were charging. We went upto them and mentioned that your website said no cover and the rude bouncer is like oh now we have a DJ and you will have a good time so there is cover. I am like dude you should just not say it on your website if you plan on charging. Then the DJ sucked a...
I must say i've been hearing the they hype behind this place and it pretty much lived around it. This place is beautiful! The warmth and ambience of the lighting and the colrs mixed in with the hge space is worth a trip alone. I went there with a large group on Saturday night and it was packed!! that would probably be the only downfall. the serbvice was attantive and the food was really good. I...
My girfriends and I came to Medjool for drinks and appetizers. The 4 of us were having a pretty decent time chatting and relaxing up there. We were drinking bloody mary's (no vodka specified) and I had a few Tequila and diet, when asked if I wanted Patron I said no thanks. We had been there for a few hours and when it came time to close out our tab our server Mark K, forwarned us that our bill w...
WOW! What a great time we had at Medjool on NYE! Everything was just right, the food (which i definitely have to agree was slow in delivring, but you can kind of expect that with a place that big serving so many people on New Years Eve) the view, the music. Reall y good time with me and my group, can't wait to go again.
mangement was rude..messed up on our reservation and made it seem like it was our fault. ummm arent we the guests..i work at a restaurant and we never do that to our guests.. the managers were rude from the beginning. we had to wait an extra 30 minutes because they messed up and blamed us. food was good. waitress was nice. bathroom was limited. owners are rude..they kickd my friend out because...
We went to Medjool for dinner and drinks on a weeknight for a friend's birthday. We had a huge group, around 16 , and they had our table ready when we got there. The food was great (loved the lamb) and the service was good considering we were a very large group. It was quiet but it was also a Monday night - I would love to go back on a weekend. The food was tastey and the wine selection was d...
I had read a bunch of sour reveiw here before I went for dinner but I was invited for a large party event so I went anyway.
In the end I had a great time. Food was good but a bit on the small side- I guess I'm programed to our super sized nation mind set... We camped out at our table until closing but they didn't seem to mind... we paid our way in bottle service... good music for the dance party...
I recently had some friends visiting me and wife from boston, and we had decided to go to Medjool, wanted to show them something different and unique. My past experience had been great at medjool, but this time was just right, Since it was a warm day, we decided to go straight to the famous roof top bar and have a few drinks, my friends were amazed how somethi9ng like this was right in the midd...
Prompt seating, attentive service. Interesting space - a cross between industrial chic and North African cozy - great lighting. Nice roof deck bar with views of the Mission and City. Now for the bad news...
Food portions are small, overpriced and tasteless. Middle Eastern sampler was about $2 worth of hummus, baba ganouj and tabouleh - I've had better at a number of small mom and pop Middle- E...
If you're looking for a place to go people watching, this maybe one of the best spots in the city. The panoramic city views makes it one of my favorite spots in the city, and the bartenders are courteous and make great mojitos. Parking can be a hassle, but there is a parking garage close by. I highly recommend the place to any SFer. Have a few mojiots, and enjoy the view!
I have been hearing about this place for quite some time now both with mixed reviews, mostly good. So, I decided to give it a shot, and i must say i was pretty impressed. Me and my wife visited medjool on a sturday night on a last minute cancellation from another restaraunt. We called late in the evening and we were accomodated pretty quickly. As we walked in, we were both in awe! The space w...
Me and 3 friends went to Medjool Saturday night, and I must say we had a great time! I had been to medjool several times in the past, but this time was extremley special because it was my birthday so i was looking for a place with good food, drinks, and a gret view of san francisco. The service was was quick and friendly, the food was really good, especially the lamb tagine and the shrimp with t...
This is hands down one of the worse place I've ever eaten at in my life. This place is way overhyped. This is not a place for dinner. It's more of a bar/club with food. It's very over priced and the portions are paltry. I've spent $120 for my wife and I were both left hungry afterwards. The service was terrible. During dinner, one of the waiters took one of our tables away saying that the ...
This place is stunning when you first walk in. Enormous ceilings, plenty of tables everywhere, awesome mezzanine. But that's about it. The food was only ok, and the portions were a bit on the small size especially for the price. But the place is so nice that it was easy to forget about how much you are paying for your meal. The wait staff were very nice and always had a smile on their face ev...
Went with a larger group. It was very loud and the service was very slow. Some of the dishes were pretty good but the overall experience left me wanting more.
Ecletic restaurant and hostel. This place is so so spacious that you get kind of confused when you walk in. There are multiple floors to this joint. Of which levels 1, 2 and the top are for the restaurant. The rooftop which is really cool only serves cold plates since there's no kitchen upstairs and serves all beverages. It's nice to be there on a nice night but for those cold nights, I woul...
Not a great place to eat. Tapas are small dishes, but never seen it this small anywhere else. Prices on the other hand are HUGE! It would, maybe, be worth it if the taste was good? But, not really. Reminds me of cafeteria food I used to get in college. I ordered a Mojito, and there was seriously NO alcohol in there. On top of that, the waitress was rude. She was missing for the most part of the n...
My friend and I recently tried this place out. We were seated pretty promptly (had res.), and although we were seated near the restroom, they kindly sat us somewhere else. The tapas took a bit longer than tapas usually take to get out, but they were delicious. Try the grilled hanger steak, and the brined pork loin. Oh and the spanish cheese platter. I don't even like cheese, yet there were so...
i ate there the other day and wasnt impressed. the portions are way too small for the price, and no dish really stood out. it was hard to get any service too, even tho we paid a lot for our meal. this is a case of too much hype
This place has a great atmosphere and very cool layout. You can relax, dance, drink, party which sure, you can maybe do this at any bar, but this layout gives you so many options. I'd heard a lot about this place and figured it would have been over hyped, but I went and was impressed. I have yet to eat there, only went for drinks but I've heard the foods pretty good too.
If you have not been to this spot you are missing out. I have been there 4 times now. Although the food is so-so. I love the rooftop views and the comfy seats in the mezzanine. I made the mistake of not making a reservation for Saturday but found some space to stand and watch everyone dance. It was a great night for myself and all my girlfriends.
Unless you're into horrible incompetent service never go there! First of all, when I first tried to make a reservation with the restaurant, they kept me on hold for over 10 mins. I finally hung up and had to call back later. No one should be put on hold for that long without someone getting back to the customer to let them know they werent forgotten. Then during our dinner on Sat., the waitre...
This had been my 7th visit to Medjool, and I must say that we have enjoyed the experience every time. I really enjoyed this last time due to the prompt response into accomodating my large group in such short notice. Our group of about 15 had a a section upstairs in the mezzanine level and were taken care of immediately by the wait staff and the manager. Our food was delivered promptly, even ...
I decided to go despite the negative reviews I read here. I was greeted and seated in a timely manner. The waitress was pleasant and frequently checked on my party of 10. The Mojitos are delicious (keep in mind nothing will ever be as good as the real thing in Cuba!). Next time I'll try the food...
I decided to go to Medjool even after reading all of the reviews good and bad. I had gone a couple of times during the week as well as a few times over the weekend. The service was great as well as the food, Except for may be on the weekends. The Saturday night that I had gone my friends and I waited a little more than expected for the food and trying to get a drink at all 3 bars was a few minute...
I can't believe how much hype this place has gotten - are we really that desperate for a new place to eat/drink in this town? The decor is nice. Now on to the negatives. The sangria is a joke - I think they dump some fruit into Kool-Aid right before bringing it to you. That's when they get around to bringing it to you - the service is ludicrous. Slow and inaccurate, they kept bringing us dishes w...
This is the most over-hyped, disappointing dining experience I have had in the last several years. We waited and were finally seated, ordered cocktails and 20 min later had no water or cocktails. As the cocktails arrived, the waited spilled them all over two of the people in our party. Accidents happen, but a better establishment would have comped the round or at least sent over an appetizer ...
if you hate people, why let them through your doors? i cant say that for the restaurant, but the lounge, definitely. the vibe in there is pretentious and definitely "marina-ish" and as for the DJ? hes probably a relative, if you know what i mean. dude needs more gigs from daddy so he can buy more vinyl. bouncers should wear t-shirts: "im a tool, i work at medjool" the only good thing? drinks are ...
I went to Medjool for the first time last week. I was impressed with the patio bar, mostly because of the view. Service was okay. It was busy, but everyone was pretty friendly.
Eventually we went downstairs because our hands and feet started to go numb because of the cold. I loved the couches/chairs. The service downstairs was about equal to the service on the patio. The calamari we ha...
Service is amatuer with food that is very uncreative and bland. Drinks are simply a rip off in terms of price for the quality spirits they use... ask the barman or server whats in their well and you get the answer...
The design is like a big banquet hall that is cheap in all aspects. We were a small group and they failed to make us feel specail in any way. All who served us seemed at looss d...
I just read some of the reviews. I ate there twice in the month of March. Both times we had good service and we loved the food. I agree it is expensive for what you get.
I think it's got a wonderful atmosphere as well. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. I was in a party of 6 and we thought the service was fine, no complaints!
And everyone in the group loved the food and they wer...

I recently joined about 10 friends at Medjool for a birthday dinner. The service was awful. The service was slow, the food is way overpriced and you are given a time limit on your stay if you are eating (I was in a group so I don't know if it pertains to small groups or couples or whatever). We complained twice. Little acknowledgement was given and we ended up dropping over $300 bucks.

Went here on a slow tuesday night. Was seated right away. Atmosphere and decor was better than the average SF eatery/bar IMO. Besides the regular dining tables there are a few couches where diners can lounge in a relaxed manner while enjoying their drinks and tapas. Wasnt able to head out to the balconey for it was closed this one evening. Tapas were alright in taste, however, they were a b...
Just took another trip out to Medjool for a friend's birthday after initially stumbling upon the restaurant. The ambiance is GREAT, service (our waitress) was very attentive and sweet. The food is good but the portions are small...that's what tapas are so know this before going. The restaurant is great for large groups and the upstairs bar, on good weather days, is packed w/ people.
This i...
I had dinner at Medjool the other night with a few of my girlfriends. The food was amazing and we all Loved the Mojitos! Our server was very sweet and on top of everything despite the chaos of the busy restaurant. We had a great time dancing on the roof and continuing the night downstairs when the DJ got started! We will definately be back soon!
Having dined at everything from the top 10 restaurants in the world to the corner hotdog stand, my general rule of thumb is this:
1) Any place that is crowded and cash only is a very strong indicator of Good food, drinks and a popular hotspot. Medjool wins on decor, food and general dining experience.
2) Any place that is crowded - don't expect perfect service. Duh. Have some common se...
I'd heard a lot about Medjool (both how nice the rooftop bar was, and how poor the service was) and it was all true. The rooftop bar has a great view, although it (and the restaurant) suffer from "I'm too trendy" pricing, the patrons proving how cool they are to eachother by purchasing $12 drinks. Sorry, this isn't Manhattan; San Francisco has a wealth of good nightspots with _much_ better serv...
Two friends and I went to Medjool on Wednesday, and knowing how crowded the place usually is, we made a reservation. Good thing - the place was packed. There was no wait to get our table though. We ordered the sampler, the spinach salad, the calamari and the scallops. The food was excellent! I've never tasted baba ghanouj this delicious. The service was prompt and friendly, but not overbearing. ...
We went to Medjool not having read any of the reviews. Honestly, the food and the service were average. The best part of the experience was that it was in San Francisco -a city rich with far above average restaurants. Based on these reviews, the odds indicate Medjool is a hit or miss kind of place - maybe a better location for Medjool would have been Las Vegas.....
I went to Medjool expecting to be disappointed by past reviews, and found out that what i was reading was a bit extreme. We were seated in the lounge area and greeted by the waitress/bartender, great drinks. We had the option of sitting in the lounge area but decided to sit on a table in the main dining room. Our service was great, which what i was looking for because of the reviews. The food ca...
I wasn't going to go to Mejool because of some of the reviews I have read here but my friends were going and my boyfriend said it ca't be that bad. Not only wasn't it not bad but it was suprisingly really good. The food was great. The view from the roof was beautiful although the bar on the roof was closed due to rain. I have to addmit that the food was sent to the table oddly but I think that's ...
Average food, small portions, unacceptable staff, rude, insulting - We went there for a birthday party - we'll NEVER go back. I could go on, but why - this place wasted my time and money - this is my gift to them - Happy Holidays!
It breaks my heart to hate Medjool as much as I do, because the food is outstanding, but it can't make up for the abysmal service. I love the food so much that I keep going back, hoping the situation will improve, but it actually gets WORSE every time. The last straw was when I co-hosted a large, invitation-only party here (I didn't choose the venue). When the other hosts and I convened an hour b...
Loved the ambiance, the owners are great, the food was pretty good, but the service left much to be desired. I've been here a few times and thought it was fantastic when it first opened, but I feel that the quality of service and the food has started to dip. The decor is beautiful, with gorgeous lanterns suspended from high ceilings and warm, lambent candlelight. It's great for parties -- there'...
My high exceptations were disappointed on my recent visit. Service was slow, unattentive. We were with a large party and were told we had to go to the bar downstairs, through the emergency exits to get our own drinks, if we wanted something other than the weak sangria. Food was good (since we were starving), what little was served. Staff was unfriendly and downright RUDE! Avoid the hype and go so...
It's been a while since I had such horrible service from the ENTIRE staff. The front desk staff didn't know where the rest of my party was sitting, waiter didn't want to walk to the bar to get my drink because she was "busy" (I had to walk down the hostel emergency stairs to reach the bar), portions are so tiny so that if you are hungry, you feel like you had a great tasting meal. To top it off, ...
I attended a gathering of 40 or so for a party at Medjool this weekend and was completely disappointed by the attitude we received by their staff. The meal was pre-set and they knew very well how many people were attending, as they required a confirmed head count. Not only were the portions way too small (if it they had set this up as a buffet, it would have been enough food for 20, not 40), a...
My company had it's most recent Holiday Part on the mezzanine at Medjool and it was by far the best party yet. The space is warm and cozy and the food was great. I loved being up above the dining room looking out over all the action. I highly recommend it for any holiday gatherings.
I've been 5 or 6 times. The food and service has been great every time. The ambience is excellent and probably my favorite thing about this place is the diverse crowd. For a diverse city, many mid to high end restaurants in SF can be pretty homogeneous. There is a great mix at Medjoo.
This is one of the most innovative restaurants I have been to in San Francisco - more like an uber hip NY place. Service and staff wonderful and helpful. the small plates are generous and well priced, and they spaced them well. I cannot say enough good things about Medjool. Loved the decor too. Food was imaginative, fresh and well prepared.
Yes, one cannot deny that there is an incredible view from the roof...if you ever get there! I didn't eat there, so cannot comment on the food. However, got there at 10 and waited over 40 minutes to then be allowed to climb 3 flights of stairs (elevator was broken) to a not so crowded roof. No roganized line and bouncer was letting in his "friends" (about 30 of them) through the side door. On...
I was really impressed by the view and outdoor seating: not many places in the city, unfortunately, offer either. But the food and service were lousy. The portions were so incredibly small as to be laughable. The wooden skewer was by far the weightiest item on the plate.
Horrible experience. Don't let the ultra cool ambiance or the hip roof deck fool you. This is perhaps the worst restaurant in San Francisco. The food is 'ok' but the service is the worst I have experienced at almost any restaruant. Do I sound disgruntled? I am not the only one. We had a dinner party for about 12 people with advance reservations. Our food was slow to arrive, our server i...
I just love that it has 3 different levels. I have now had dinner in the dining room, up on the mezzaine level and the glorious Rooftop. I will admit, service was alittle slow on the rooftop but with a view like that I didn't mind one bit. Some friendly advice: you want to go to the the Rooftop, come before 10pm.
When you go into a restaurant, you expect to sit at a table; or at least in chairs. Neither of this was the case at Medjool. After waiting 45 minutes for a two-week early reservation, we arrive to our table: four people at a round table 2 feet wide, sitting on ottomans. The food was all mixed up, we had no place to put our wine - except the floor- and in the end, they bought us a kamikazee sh...
The food here is great but the service is something to be desired. I found the wait staff unattentive. We had to keep asking for everything from water to clean plates. All the hassle when the place was empty on a Monday night.
Tried this place recently. Loved the ambience. With its high ceiling and hip crowd, I definitely felt I was in a hip place. We sat down to order and the waiter took his sweet time coming to our table. After taking our drink order, he strolled by 3-4 times before we flagged him down to take our order. BTW, the Sangria tasted like spiked Hi-C. The food however was exceptional. I reccommend t...
Went there with an open mind...Four of us total....Saturday night....Everything was mediocre at best...A man was running around yelling and looking like he was about to pass out from a coronary...We were told he is the OWNER! Seemed to add to the negative vibe in this "could've been" a great place atmosphere! Interesting that negative shots seem to be limited...HMMMM...
Some girlfriends and I went into Medjool for an early dinner on a Thursday and couldn't get enough of the place. After our amazing meal we moved to the lounge for drink before we were to head to a party. The bar crowd was so much fun, the lounge super comfy and the men were so cute, we ended up staying there all night!
We should have taken the clue from the elevator that took forever to open. The view was amazing, maybe it was just this one time but the service was really horrible. It took soooo long that at some point (being dehydrated from repeatedly asking for water with no luck) I was hoping to just cancel the order and get some food down the street. Expensive and small portions Oh and did I forget that th...
The food & ambiance are great for a late evening date or just some fun picking at tasty little dishes while socializing and sipping cocktails. Unfortunately, the service isn't nearly as charming. The upstairs bartender ignored us as we were standing there waiting to order a drink and grumbled a stern "YES" over his shoulder when we asked if he was closed. We then proceeded back downstairs to g...
THis is such a unique SF hot spot. The Roof deck is so fun, altho it gets really cold if you're not near a heater. The service was good, drinks were great, but CASH ONLY here. You kinda need to hover over people to get a table since it's all self-seating upstairs.
the rooftop restaurant is disorganized and the attitude of some of the waitstaff was aloof and inattentive. we waited to order, waited ages for our food to arrive, received the wrong meals, were given lukewarm coffee "on the house," then were overcharged on the bill. each time, the server said, "oh, sorry," without even making eye contact, then shuffled away to talk to a friend.
but the food w...
We spent a few hours talking eating and trying different plates. The food was tasty, the mussels were the best. What we couldnt understand was why we were being offered plates we didnt order. It happened far more times than we thought was normal. There were 4 of us, some of the small plates could only feed 3, while others fed the whole group.
ok, so i've walked by this place a million times, and then last week went by and some guy was walking his weimariner, ridiculous, in the mission, what have you people done to my hood? food - ok, creative. drinks - $8 drinks in the mission? c'mon. roof is admittedly very nice and the interior is pretty plush, but with all the aging hipster types lounging around, it kinda lost the touch, plus t...
I've been there six or seven times and have never had a problem with the service there. The Sky Terrace is a great addition to the Mission scene, especially for those times when you're not in the mood for Zeitgeist. The recent addition of the semi-enclosed shelter on the roof has solved some of the problems with San Francisco evening chill. Drinks were fine and reasonably priced. In this town,...
Living just a short walk to Medjool, I am often drawn to the place for lunch, take-out, and informal get-togethers with friends. Medjool has provided the neighborhood with a stylish, reasonably-priced place to grab drinks and light meals. The food is delicious! My boyfriend and I have worked our way through most of the menu and have been very happy with most everything. Highlights include the sam...
The rooftop bar is amazing BUT that's the only thing going for them.
The service was horrible. I've been three times with different people and all three times the service was way below par. All three times food came way late and/or never show up. If you want drinks just go straight to the bar is A LOT faster.
Why they even bother having servers when they are obviously not doing their job...
Wow!! what a true jewel! Went there for dinner with 4 other people. After driving around the mission trying to decide where to eat, we walked into medjool. the atmosphere was great, The food is delicious...highly recommend the lamb tagine! The drinks were very tasty as well. Our server knew the menu to the detail, and she recommended all the right items. After we finished dinner, we went u...
Finally a place that is'nt the same old boring routine that everyone flocks to just because there's no where else to go!! This place is great! Food was excellent and exotic, service was great! And overall atmosphere is beautiful!!! Go there and you'll be back!!
I thought the food was delicious, though the prices are high for such tiny portions. Great house cocktails. Good atmosphere - large dining room means you dont feel crowded and noise level was good. Rude and incompetent service. Hostess had a serious chip on her shoulder and didnt seem to have any clue what she was doing. When we arrived (on time) for our reservation, she wouldn't even take our n...
The space is very cool, although not intimate......the food was very good, although as with dim sum, those small plates add up in cost.....Lamb was outstanding. Service was not impressive. The server was bored, totally uninterested, and half asleep. And very slow. I'll go back for the food, and give the service another chance.
I went there 2 times once for food & once for drinks & felt I should have been somewhere else. All this place got for it is that it is large in size so any can get a seat. Bartender was weak with my order and others standing around. his dirty martini was olive juice only.
Looking around I thought people who are there simply could not get in in other nicer resturants in the city thus`they sett...
I went to Medjool with a group of friends, and was appalled by the level of service. Our waiter screwed up our order repeatedly (our drink order was botched twice and our food order once). In addition to his lack of graciousness regarding his mistakes, his service was extremely slow. We waited for the check for 25 minutes after asking for it. The food was decent, but not worth the price, and ...
Wow! The challenge was for my friends and I to find a restaurant where none of us had ever been before ... one with good atmosphere, delicious food and good service. After emailing lists of restaurants back-and-forth to each other we finally chose Medjool and I have no doubt we couldn't have landed in a better spot!
As soon as we walked in we were greated with smiles and shown to our table pro...
We went for dinner last night----The Lamb Tagine and the scallops were the best we've ever had! The staff was prompt and courteous, drinks were fast and well made. Overall the ambience was wonderful! No hesitation recommending this place to anyone! we'll be back!! Roofdeck is INCREDIBLE!!
edjool restaurant was a perfect place to take my parents that I hadnt seen in 4 years. The restaurant layout was beautiful! The Mediterranean feel was very pleasant. The food had an exquisite taste and the service was prompt and welcoming I will be back very soon.
I made a reservation for 2 for dinner and when I arrived and explained we had one more guest in our party. The woman at the reservation stand looked at me with a blank stare on her face. It was as though I had asked them to do quantum physics or something. I was told they couldn't seat us, because they didn't have a table for three. We were told the only we could have dinner was to sit in th...
We had a party of 10.Spoke to the events manager.Pre ordered all the food!! when we came in...everything was waiting for us!!! Price was around 30 per personThanks Again Andrew. Looking forward to the Grand opening of your roof terrace for brunc. The service was absolutely perfect as well.
Love it! Located a few doors down from Foreign Cinema, this Mission gem is both fun and tasty. The menu is organized by Mediterranean region with North African as well as southern European style small plates. The Fried sumac-dusted calamari, red onions & lemons with aioli was incredible. The grilled hanger steak with harissa and sauteed spinach as well as the Fig and Lamb Tagine were rich and...
This experience marked a new low in customer service. We chose Medjool because it met the "goup dining" search criterion. Our party of nine arrived at 7pm on Wednesday night. The place was practically empty, and I happened to notice there were only 5 or 6 reservations. After some waiting we suggested that we simply be seated separately. Denied. Meanwhile a large table remained empty. After...
After reading the review from Michael Bauer I decided to check out Medjool Restarant for myself. I had dinner with a group of close friends last Saturday at Medjool and I was thoroughly pleased. The atmoshpere was invigorating and the menu was well prepared. Between the six of us, we were able to taste many of the dishes. My favorite was the hanger steak on the North African portion of the menu, ...
My wife and I went to Medjool on the recommendation of my boss--We were happy we did! The food is great, and the atmosphere is like a place that takes you away from the hub-bub of every day life!----The food was excellent, as was the price, and the service!!
You must try this place!!!
After the great review, I was expecting fabulous food, but it was all too heavy and I felt greasy afterwards. Grilled vegetable B'stilla with goat cheese felt like cream cheese (don't get this). Pork tenderloin and sea scallops were tasty but oversalted. Medjool sampler was alright but nothing stood out. Fried calamari was rather greasy and the sauce was too creamy. I'd go once as the decor i...
The hostess didn't speak English and made us wait while other people got seated before us. After ordering two plates--the hangar steak was only 6 small bites/pieces and the baba ghanoush tasted like stale cigarette butts, we were still hungry and ordered the chicken. We waited 25 minutes and it never came. We finally got the bill, only to be charged for the chicken. We had a private party upstair...
My wife and I love this place! The food is unmatched---And we eat out a LOT! Atmosphere is the greatest----Funky, sexy, and classy!!-----In a town that has become boring with its restuarant formulas----Medjool has a spark that we'll keep coming back for!--------Try the hangar steak!!----my personal favorite!!
I recently went back here with my girlfirend & we had a wondeful evening. The food is still great and the place is beautiful. We love the mellow ambience and the service has REALLY improved. I really like the food and my girlfrined loves the cocktails. I appreciate the value becaue we can both eat great food and get a couple of drinks for around 25 bucks a piece. It's a great place to hang o...
The restaurant looks like it was picked out of an IKEA showroom. The restaurant is way too big. We were the only people dining in the place and it felt really awkward. The food is okay but the kitchen is a little slow at times. As for the service? I felt like the staff were all amateurs. Save your money.
Went here a few weeks back, with a large group. Despite a very busy friday night, we were catered to hand and foot, and loved every minute of it. Great space, good vibe, beautiful decor, and a hip crowd. The food good, but the service and atmosphere were the highlights. will go there again
Been twice-- once for a date, another time with a group of six. The food was excellent. The bigger the group, the more tastes, the better the experience. Pommes Frites, spick salad, goat cheese/fruits, chicken, lamb, choc torte are highly recommended. Atmosphere and lighting are great enhancements to the experience. Good location for bar hopping.
My husband and I had dinner at Medjool---We were beyond impressed...The food was incredible! The service was excellent...Ambience was the key---We felt as though we entered a different world when we had dinner!----It made for such a wonderful evening, I would recommend Medjool to anyone! We felt that the attention given to us was extra special, even though it seemed that everyone we could see had...
Food was really average, only the prawns stand out. Too many cheese dishes, calamari ok and didn't like the deep fried lemons. Cocktails decent though! Seems like a great place for groups but $$ a little high. Great vibe for drinks and apps as the setting is really cool.
I am not sure what is going on with the reviews that I read about this place. Based on the reviews I read I was really excited to eat at Medjool, hoping it might be on par with Aziza. The food was just so nothing, tasting like it could have come from the deli counter at Whole Foods, or maybe a little worse. We had cod fritters that tasted exactly like overly salted Van de Kamp's fish sticks, a ba...
Dining at Medjool was food transformed pleasure. A friend who has been there more than once recommended and we decided to give it a try. We waited 10 minutes for our table in the lounge, where we sipped on delicious martinis and lounged comfortably. The dinner was delicious, at every bite, you heard the word, "wow" from someone sitting on our table. The service was very helpful and recommende...
We arrived at 8pm, there was much discussion about our 8pm reservation - they had us on the wrong night. At the bar - it took 20 minutes to get the bottle of wine we ordered. They weren't busy, mind you. When our table was ready at 8:45, more confusion about settling up the bar tab we'd been told we could run - we weren't allowed to leave the bar until we'd paid that tab Finally at the table,...
While this was my second time at Medjool, they really made my birthday a night to remember. The restaurant is in a very appealing space -- high ceilings and vibrant colors. The bar area is spacious and there is a nice cluster of sofas to get comfy on. The staff at Medjool blocked off an area of the lounge for my guests and it was perfect. Everyone got to chat in a relaxed, fun atmosphere with...
I dined at Medjool Cafe and found the place to be very welcoming. Great new addition to the Mission. Service was friendly, and helpful. I ordered a French panini sandwich with yummy fries, which was delicious and for the price of $6.50, a great value. I had to wait about 12 minutes, but the sandwich was worth the wait. Wine list had good variety. There is a great open space available to hang ...
This is truly a new gem in the city. The food is amazingly exotic, the blend of the spices and creativity of the food fusion is great. The decor is fabulous. and the prices are even better! this definitley a place to go to whether for dinner or drinks. i highly recommend you pay a visit.
I have been to medjool 3 times in the last month and a half for dinner. Everytime has been better than the previous. The decor of the place compliments the food, it is very well done and thought out. I love the central chandelier of morrocan lamps. the place is perfect for groups and for a romantic dinner as well!! the lamb tagine and hanger steak have been a must for me since the first time...t...
What an unexpected surprise to find such a fun, relaxed and inviting place in the mission. Their breakfast and lunch are pretty damn good and priced well and a good alternative in the neighbothood. I really enjoyed the free wireless access and no preassure to get going from the staff. The dinner I had was great, pretty good value for the small plates, lots of food, great flavors. The place i...
This is a new beautiful, wide open lounge next door to Foreign Arts Cinema. Few places have mastered the "lounge" as well as Medjool. The downstairs features intimate candle-lit tables while the upstairs has tons of couches PERFECT for relaxing over drinks. With no loud DJs to scream over, large groups and couples fit perfectly into this space.
Although the food is not very vegetarian-friend...
