The service was OK, and there was nothing bad about any of my food.
I became a regular at Champa pretty quickly...they had GREAT food, and the buy one get one free sushi deal couldn't be beaten.
Yesterday, I took a visiting relative there with my husband. We ordered lots of food, and half of our order was wrong. I'm not the kind of customer who complains and sends things back (after having worked in fast food), so I told them we'd keep what we got as long as t...
We like this restaurant and have returned a number of times, especially on, I believe it is Tuesday night, when there was live jazz. Service is spotty and it can take an age, but usually the restaurant is full, so I guess they are busy.
The food varies in quality and is inconsistent. That said, we have not had a really bad meal there, but sometimes the flavor is not all there. I would not go h...
Great Sushi and Pad Thai! Good, quick service but there can be a wait at lunch at dinner because it is a pretty popular place. Highly recommended
i went here last night and thought it was pretty average. the presentation of the food is nice and the service is really friendly, but the food itself is just all right--not worth the high prices especially with the portion sizes. you won't leave hungry but you won't have any leftovers either. the items i really like here are the pad kao and basil fried rice, but even those i don't think are wort...
I found I was charged more than pre-authorization. I faxed and notified the restaurant but they did not get back with me. Just correct the amount. Just not a pleasant place for me to go again.
I've been to Champa over 10 times. The reason I stopped going is because of the inconsistency. The sushi is really good sometimes and just so so other times. The service can be really good. There is one waitress that knows us by name and if we are seated in her section then all is well. Otherwise, it's very slow and my husband who orders Thai always gets his food way earlier (sometimes 15 min...
We are regulars at this restaurant and every time we are very pleased with the food. As we are not the pickiest customers in terms of service and don?t like servers jumping around us too much, I have never noticed the staff being unprofessional as the other reviewer mentioned. The food, mainly sushi, is what we go there for and are always pleased with the quality and selection. The service is fas...
With so many excellent restaurants in the Triangle area I've gotten spoiled with the the "triple threat" restaurants: spectular food, delightful atmosphere and professional staff. In an attempt to make reservations, the male that answered the phone told us "no reservations and expect an hour wait because we are wildly popular". When asked if the wait time could be reduced by arriving early, he...
It was expensive for the food we ordered and wasn't much different then Chinese take out...may have to try again, but only if I have money to spend.
My boyfriend and I stopped by Champa two weekends ago and it was awesome! Even the the soy sauce was out of this world. And the warmed saki was very smooth and almost sweet tasting after tasting the sushi. We will be back there soon.
If it the service was a lot better, and prices a little less, there would be no reason to complain. Every visit has played out exactly the same. The waitresses/waiters all walk around aloof. Food takes too long to come out. Each time, it was at least 10 minutes before even our drink orders were taken. Its been up to 30 minutes before an appetizer/meal order was taken. For the most part, the...
new to the RDU are and fell in love with this place! the staff already knows me by first name and the sushi is always fresh! thank you champa!
I have been there twice. The serving staffs did not seem to want to be there both times. Thai food was ok, but there was a price jump in the dinner menu just 1 week after my first visit, and the portion seems to have gone down, so I was pretty disappointed. Not sure if I will go back there.
Eaten the sushi (have not tried the Thai) at Champa 3 or 4 times. Tried variety of nigiri, sashimi and special rolls. Best they have is the eel which is fantastic -- everything else is average. Slightly more expensive than average sushi place. Service has been terrible every time I have gone.
Food really is not that good and there are not a lot of places to sit. You would be better off going to New Asia in Brier Creek.
The place is a ripoff at dinner time but reasonable for lunch. I almost always get the duck in red curry. Don't even bother with the sushi. It's overpriced and you can find much better elsewhere (Waraji and Sushi Thai come to mind). Thai is what they're good at.
I go to Champa once every two weeks or so for either lunch or dinner. While the service is a little slow at times, I have not had problems with it. For lunch I recommend the chicken noodle bowl or Thai spicy basil. All of the food I've had there is excellent. In fact, although I love sushi, I've never tried it because the Thai food is so tempting. Everyone I know who's eaten there absolutely love...
Update: Avoid this restaurant like the plague. The restaurant would sneak additional charges on your bill! We asked for Vegetarian Drunken Noodle (10.95$). The bills comes out as 11.95$. When we asked, they said that since they added tofu, they add $1. But we never asked for that in the first place! The owner said we should have say something when we see that there are additional items on ou...
I eat often at this restaurant. I usually order the Spicey Thai Basil Beef or the Red Curry Chicken. Both of these dishes are fantastic. I have tried several of the other dishes and they are also very good. The Pad Thai is good too. My wife loves the Sushi here. I think the service could improve, but it has not made my experience at Champa unpleasant. However, we have noticed that the work...
To-go sushi orders w/multiple sushi rolls are usually missing something (70% of the time), so check your bag. Service is haughty and rude. Management is aloof, rude, and seems bothered by your presence. I continue to go back b/c sushi is BEST I've ever had, though quality is INCONSISTENT. I think I've figured it out -- go when they're not busy, get awesome sushi. Go when biz is booming, you're pl...
I'm surprised at some of the comments regarding this restaurant. My husband and I go there at least once a week and always receive excellent service and food quality. I think they have some of the best sushi I've ever eaten, and their prices are comparable to other sushi houses we've tried. They are by far my favorite sushi restaurant and I drive over 25 miles just to go there.
I went there on a date. The waiter was funny, informative and helpful! The food was great and the interior was very pleasant. In fact we went there for a second time.
The Thai food was ok, I had better and less inexpensive. We stood around for a while and none of the staff acknowledged us so we sat ourselves. The restaurant was pretty chilly, they need better insulated doors or something. The food takes forever to come out. There sushi is pretty good and that's really the only good thing. So overall food is ok, sushi pretty good, price is pretty high when...
I've eaten here three times. Each time the food has had excellent flavor. Service was good. Nice semi-causual place to dine.
My friend and I received very bad service at this restaurant. Upon entering we were told rather coldly to sit by the window. After some time we noticed some of the wait staff staring at us, yet noone came to take our drink order. A short time later after this same behavior continued and noticing that the prices were somewhat expensive we decided that enough was enough so we left.
Must eat here! Wide selection of appetizers, reasonably priced martini specials, and AWESOME THAI FOOD distinguish Champa from the rest. Sushi selection is huge and comes out fresh. Tom Kha soup, while it may cost $13, and seem on the high side, is served in a volcano bowl with a side of rice and would easily serve two people- a meal itself! Veggie Spring Rolls come out piping hot with a wond...
My wife and I walked in and were ignored, so we helped ourselves to a peak at the menu. I always order the Tom Kha soup to start, but when we saw it was priced at $13 we immediately left. I can't comment on the food itself, but I am completely certain that their soup isn't three times as good as the average, which it would need to be at that price!
After my 3rd or 4th visit to this restaurant, I certainly see a pattern. The food is always good, the service is absolutely horrible. During each visit, there was a discrepancy between what was ordered and what was received, took way too long to get the food, no refilling on water and, during my last visit, two of us received our dinners 15 minutes after the others at the table had received the...
I find the service and attitude of this restaurant to be so appalling that it needs mentioning. This weekend was our last visit to Champa. The service here is so consistently missing-in-action that it is shocking. Poor service is one thing VIRTUALLY NONEXISTING and BELLIGERENT service is another. Some of the items of concern include:
No acknowledgement of customers entering the restaurant
...
The service here is very poor. We waited over 25 minutes for our sushi to arrive and when it came, the order was wrong. The waitress acted like it was our fault and was unpleasant for the rest of our meal. The sushi was average and overpriced. Even though this is the closest sushi restaurant to my house, I'll be driving the extra distance to avoid this place.
Warm sushi is not my thing... At least chill the plates or do something that tells me you're trying.. Unimpressive, unoriginal and overpriced. Typical Brier Creek.
Went in to order two sushi rolls with my wife, a bowl of miso soup and hot tea each. The bill came to $26. Yes you read that correctly - 26 dollars for two sushi rolls!
After looking at the bill - we were charged $3 each for a bowl of miso soup (usually free or a buck or so), and $4 for tea.. EACH (huh??). Eight dollars for two cups of tea. Worst off - neither of these (tea or soup) were liste...
How about we finally find some good food in Ral.We sat @ the bar on Fri.nite & had sushi, it was awsome sweet dragon was nice & hot and my sashimi was artfully done. We also ate Thai that nite, we had drunken noodle & soft shell crab nice & spiced. They also had this drink special Saketinni goo>>>d.Man it was perfect not to old style decor not bad, but they kept there food old style. You have to t...
Champa is my favorite Thai restaurant! It's rather inexpensive and its food quality is unsurpassed as compared to the food I've had at other local Thai places. In fact, my wife and I also think Champa has THE BEST SUSHI of any place we've been in the Triangle area!!! I can't say enough good things about Champa...it truly is a unique gem amid the monotonous suburban sprawl of chain restaurants....
I've had two kinds of Thai noodles here Pad See U and Pad Thai and both were excellent. They were not spicy enough for me, but that can be fixed by requesting them to add more pepper. The service was EXCELLENT. Very fast, curteous and helpful. The atmosphere could benefit from a little less light and more seclusion. The prices were a bit high too, but the food was great. In general, I would highl...
There are lots of thai restaurants in the area which is great because it means you do not have to tolerate poor service. Between the poor service, mediocre food at above average prices and the blaring frenetic music (not that I don't like loud electronic dance music - just not with my dinner), we won't go back. Too bad because it's also the closest thai restaurant to our house.
Me and my wife had to wait 15 minutes at the door before we were told we had 45 minutes wait for dinner.
I am not sure about why you guys are saying that the food is not Thai, but rest to sure it is. So far we have been to all 14 rest. that claims to serve Thai food & by far this is #1. The $ is fair for location & quality plus quantity. We moved here from up north & this is the only Thai & Sushi place we are willing to pay for. Fresh ingredients and vibriante with taste. If their food is so awful wh...
This is NOT Thai food! Sorry but stir fried rice I can make at home is not Thai food. Cool ambiance, poor service. Don't waste your time.
Go Sawasdee over off of Capital Blvd if you want authentic Thai that rocks.
The dishes are so big that eating "family style" is the best option at a restaurant like this. I highly recommend the drunken noodle dish and thai spicy basil with beef. Their succulent catfish is also a great purchase if you are willing to pay a little extra. If you like coconut, their coconut cake is a savory end to all that Thai spice. I have eaten here on several occassions since they ha...
Went there on Friday night. In short, I got a not so fresh seafood dish for $18 I shouldve just gone to a Chinese restaurant for a seafood stir-fry. My entree wasnt exotic, and the ingredients all tasted frozen especially, the scallops (tasted like a wad of fishy chewy gum). Yuck! My boyfriend got a snapper dish that was way over cooked for $19 The snapper was as dry as canned tuna. Theres a lot ...
I've only eaten here for lunch and I got the same dish both times: thai beef salad. Luch comes with a soup. The first time it was cocnut ginger tofu soup. The second time it was lemongrass chicken soup. Both delicious. The beef salad was consistently good on both occasions. The beef was of high quality (ribeye) and cooked perfectly so that it remained tender. The salad was piquant with lime, fish...
I agree with the other reviewers, the service is unfriendly, the food is average at best, and price is a little on the high side for the Thai food. The owner doesn't seem like he enjoys the restaurant business and takes it out on the guests. Would not visit again.
My first and last visit to this establishment. I was amazed to see how rude our waiter was only to find out later he was the owner. It goes without saying that neither I or the three other couples with me will ever give this place another chance.
There are to many "good" places to eat in the triangle without having to go through this horrible experience.
Upon entering the restaurant we should have known by the five minutes it took for anyone to notice that we were standing around waiting to be helped that this wasn't going to be the best dining experience...The service was pretty horrible, we recognized our waiter from Sushi Blues and he grunted to us that the sushi here was "not good"...Too bad because we drove a ways to eat just that! We ordere...
We went as a group, 9 people. And not only was the food overpriced, but they screwed up the bill, and charged us too much. If you don't mind paying a lot for your meal, then I recommend it. The service was ok, but easily could have been better.
It was a pleasure to find a Fareast cuisine restaurant in the park. The ambiance is chic and trendy, (although I am not so sure that the neon sushi signs could not be taken down). The braised lamb in basil sauce was good but soft shell crab in basil coconut sauce was subtly spiced. THeir dishes are a bit overpriced for the portion size.
The owners are exceptionally nice and friendly.
Their Pad ...
The restaurant is very comfortable and inviting. The wait staff is very friendly and warm. I had the spring roll appetizer (3 rolls in a very tasty and spicy ginger sauce) - they were excellent; delicate vegetables wrapped in a perfectly-fried wrapper. The entree I got was "one pepper" but I found it to be extremely hot, but the flavor still came through. Although not my favorite Thai restaur...
