Bad fish I got a seafood dish here that tasted unbelievably unfresh (and bland). The fish seems to be either old or frozen. I can not believe they charge for this food. Just horrible. Read More On Citysearchrach52 12/5/2009
Great Authentic Peruvian Food and Drinks This is the best Peruvian restaurant i have been to in a very long time. I'm Peruvian myself and was born over there came here when i was 9 and now i'm 22. The location here is great we went there for Mothers day 2009 and were pleased. The parking was on the street about a block away and costs us $5 in coins. The restaurant itself is very cozy and very rustic. IT has a little bar in the corner an... Read More On CitysearchCarlosEzeta 5/12/2009
Peruvian food I've been to Mancora several times and always enjoyed my meal. They have peruvian style roast chicken and steak - both are delicious. For more adventurous eaters, they have ceviche, which is marinated raw fish. If you like sushi - you'll like this. I also like the fact that the restaurant is pretty low-key for the east village - not too noisy and usually not incredibly crowded. Read More On CitysearchCitysearch User 10/30/2008
My second favorite restaurant in NY! What can I say that's bad about Mancora? The food is delicious... the flavors are unique, there is a wide variety of creative, authentic dishes on the menu, and the drinks are delicious. I go here entirely for the food and because I feel it's a great value, but the service and atmosphere are fairly good, too. Depending on when you go, the restaurant is either completely full or completely empty. ... Read More On Citysearchtoasterbunny4 7/30/2008
Awful The hostess told us that would take 5 minutes, but we waited 40 minutes for a table for three that never came. Apparently they just have table for couples. Read More On Citysearchlorenasfm 2/12/2008
Great food, good service, perfect environment.. Mancora is my favorite restaurant. My friends and I go there at least once a month. Ceviches, of course, is our best appetise to share among us. We just love shrimps and Mixto cerviches from many kind of cerviches they offered.
Be sides, the grilled fish with the spicy creamy seafood sauce is the best seafood I would recommend, the sauce is very testy. Steak is fine for me as I think that it is... Read More On Citysearchsapphire_blue 9/7/2007
very High Quality Peruvian Flavor I've been ther two times already. I have taken a friend who is getting his first tastes with peruvian flavors. He will come back and bring others. He is HOOKED on this food, as I have always been.
The ceviche, papa a la Huancaina, the pollo a la brasa and the corn are just GREAT! Don't forget to wash it down with a Cusque?a beer. Read More On Citysearchfrancleo 7/17/2007

Scary Food, Nice Atmosphere I've eaten Peruvian before and was completely disappointed by this place. The ceviche was huge pieces of raw fish that were a bit intimidating, not the normal chopped ceviche. The chicken with spinach was rubbery and tasteless and almost inedible. The redsnapper was extremely crunchy and not tasty at all. The Caiprinha's were good, the open air environment was good. Would not return here. Read More On Citysearchshert 7/10/2007
Nice environment but small Food was just as good as expected and in the summer I love how they are almost like an open air restaurant. Space is a bit small but it is fairly cozy. Read More On Citysearchgralia 4/16/2007
Got sick off the Red Snapper with Sweet Potato/ Dumb as Bricks Waitress and Owner If you want to go to a restaurant where if you eat their food for almost a year and then get horribly sick from their fish, go to Mancora. I spent all night on the toilet from their bad fish and usually I wouldn't say anything but instead boycott the place, but because I usually liked Mancora, I called and spoke to the owner, who basically acted like I was trying to pull a fast one on him. His at... Read More On Citysearchshans1970 4/4/2007
Cheers for the Ceviche Place was a bit crowded when we arrived, but coming in at 9 p.m. meant the crowd dulled to a pleasant buzz by the time we were seated and our food arrived. First up was the ceviche, a meal on it's own. The pieces of fish were huge and delighfully citrusy. The sangria was sweet and went down easy. As for the rest of the fare, very solid. I am still a newbie when it comes to Peruvian, so I'll need ... Read More On Citysearchg_nyc 1/18/2007
Rotisserie Chicken, Ceviches, Steaks and more At one point, I was eating at Mancora at least twice a month. It has a freat food and diverse menu (fish, both traditional and ceviches / meat / chicken). I have had almost everything on the menu and it is all delicious. The staff are warm and friendly. And the price won't hurt your wallet. Sangrias and specialty drinks are really good as well. I have recommended this place to countless fri... Read More On Citysearchkahanj 1/9/2007
Horrible food Don't expect delivery before 4:00 because there is none. A friend and I ordered and picked up a Ceviche Mixto, Tallarin Primavera, and a Risotto with beans. The Ceviche Mixto was disgusting. It was mostly huge, unchopped, sloppy strips of fish with a fatty texture. There were 2 measley shrimp, 1 mussel, 1 clam a few shreds of octopus and too many calamari. We couldn't finish this bucket of s... Read More On Citysearchsuperiortaste 5/8/2006
Highly Recommended Everything about this place is worth checking out. The food is amazing, the people are as sweet as can be and the sangria is top notch. You cant beat the deal you get on the whole chicken with rice and beans. It's cheap, its enough for at least 2 and its damn tasty. Read More On Citysearchljc0223 9/12/2005
Awful Brunch... So a friend of mine were walking around the East Village trying to find a place to have brunch that wasnt packed we stumbled upon Macora... and to be honest, the cheap price of $8.95 lured us in. I guess we should have realized this place wasn't that great when it was completely empty. We both ordered poached eggs and it is rather hard to get that wrong but they managed to do so. The eggs were... Read More On Citysearchtikkipembo 8/24/2005

Absolutely loved it! A friend of mine recommended this restaurant to me and I'm so glad I went. I went with a group of 12 people and everyone enjoyed it. The ambiance is nice - dark wood tables, low light, the smell of fresh spices coming from the kitchen. The waitstaff was super friendly. There a a lot of yummy choices on the menu - something for everyone - it was difficult to make a selection. Some of the thin... Read More On Citysearchsonjas 3/11/2005
Great Sangria The prices here are very reasonible for peruvian food. There aren't many places like this in the city. Sangria was very strong and the seafood plates are topped with all types of shell fish. They do an excellent job presenting the food.
Pitcher of sangria, app, 2 entrees, 2 beers 60 bucks. that's pretty good. Read More On Citysearchjackryan 10/15/2004
Go Now! Excellent Peruvian!!! If you are not familiar with Peruvian food, this a good a primer - great meat dishes, ceviche, fish. Full bar w/ good mojitos, caipirinhas, etc.
Service is very gracious, nice room, excellent food at a good price - quintessential East Village experience! Read More On Citysearchducknyc 6/3/2004
