this place is my favorite indian spot on the ave. they deliver and have a cheap take out buffet. so so good. one night they were closing shop when i called about a take out order, and they took my order and came by. they're willing to go the extra step to make your dining experience great. the place is pretty simple and the decorations aren't what make this place great, but the food is. theyre al...
The service here was very nice. People were nice and friendly and were waiting promptly. While I did not like the main course too much, I found their chaats pretty appetizing and tasty. The place does not have a great ambience and parking can be a pain in U-district.
My best friend and I eat here at least a couple of times a month. We have had many items on the menu, but the best is definitely the chicken mango curry. The garlic naan is the best in the U-District and all of the appetizers are delicious. On a cold day, ORDER THE CHAI. It's out of this world. But the greatest part about Jewel of India is the service. The owners are so friendly and often bring y...

This is my favorite place for Indian buffet when I am in the city. I often try to find a reason to be in the u district whenever I can make it there for the all you can eat buffet. I feel so good when I am full. It warms me up from the inside out on those cold and rainy days, it is like sunshine for the soul! since I live in Everett, it is a long drive to get there, but it is soooo worth ever...
I've eaten A LOT of Indian food.
Jewel of India was a pleasant surprise- and their veggie pakora and butter chicken (my favorite) were fantastic. The guy who owns the place (cooks, too) was personable, friendly and came out to make sure I enjoyed my meal. So all in all, I had a very good experience there.
If you're a fan of Indian food, you should visit the Jewel of India. Like most Indian restaurants, theres a lot to chose from! The food is well cooked, the staff is friendly, and service is great!
If you like Indian, then definitely check this place out. A warm and friendly family owns the place, which is always great, and the atmosphere is nice. Additionally, and most importantly, the food does not disappoint. The wide range of dishes and large portion sizes aside, the quality of ingredients and the taste is on point. The chicken is particularly succulent; I don't know how they manage...
WOW! My fav Indian place used to be Pabla (vegetarian) in Renton--and then I came here. I can't attest to their meat dishes, but their vegetarian dishes make me want to cry they are so good! I have been twice for dinner and once for the lunch buffet and all 3 times were amazing. I don't use that word lightly, this place has the best flavors I have ever tasted! The only downside is all the mo...
I love Jewel of India. Seriously. Great food and awesome family friendly service. The fact that they deliver is really handy too. Really authentic foods and the Garlic Naan has a generous amount of garlic. Service is always really friendly and their kids are really nice too. Chicken Tikka Masala is fantastic. Always have a friendly, private atmosphere with delicious, spicy dishes. Also, u...

Went to this place in the U-district and it was great. It had friendly and speedy service. The food was delicious. The Naan bread particularly warm and tasty. Also, they offer free delivery and the food is always warm when it arrives (i love that :D)
Jewel of India is the best Indian in Seattle, their food is great, their service is excellent and the prices are awesome. AND their Chai tea is that most amazing chai ever!
So, I go into this simple Indian place in the UDistrict for lunch- I get seated right away, offered the menu or the all you can eat buffet.
Of course, I head for the buffet! Frankly, I was surprised- the food was great, and those samosa things were delicious! It's about as plain as plain can be as far as decor, but the food more than makes up for it!
Highly recommended!
Awesome curries. We had the Veggie Vindaloo and the Malai Kofta. The naans (Onion Kulcha, Garlic Naan) was very fresh and yummy! Definitely recommend this place. The Gulab Jamun was a little dry though. (Stale?)
Based on other reviews of this eatery, I went there and was very disappointed.
I expected a buffet with many choices, and there was not much choice.
The quality of the food was average to less than average.
I went here with a friend and we both ordered different dishes, but we received the same dish and it was not what either of us had ordered. It was some kind of bean log. It tasted like poo. They forgot to give us cutlery, and when we finally got ahold of the server, he didn't understand what we asked for. Horrible service, really bad food. No wonder there is no one in here ever. Avoid at al...
I had never been to this Indian Restaurant. But, it seemed like most of the reviews were good. So I thought I'd invite my Men's Group to dinner there. The food was very good and the service was fine. It seems like a nice family owned restaurant with authentic Indian cuisine. I was not disappointed. I'm looking forward to supporting them in the future.
When I called for delivery it was busy and remained busy for over 10 minutes. When i finally got hold of them, the woman taking my order did not understand me at all. She kept asking me something in a completely other language and didn't understand my address. She also put me on hold every ten seconds because she had another call or started talking to someone else in the restaurant. Two other peo...
My family (wife and parents) had veg. dinner here last week and taste of food is excellent.. I highly recommend this place
Twice my boyfriend and I have tried to dine at this establishment and both times they said they didn't take coupons--not even the one on their website! Being on the ave i'm sure that a lot of hungry college students get sucked into thinking they are getting a cheap dinner when they aren't. if the coupon ON THEIR WEBSITE says "free delivery" but when you call they say they won't honor it, thats ...
I used to go a lot before the construction, and now go again that the construction is over- man, I missed that place!
So go in, order up a chai or mango lhassi and ponder the menu: the chicken saag is my favorite. (It's chicken in spinach and although it may sound only good to Popeye, it's subtle and delicious.
The owner and his wife are very friendly and helpful, to make for a great experie...
My boyfriend and I ate here last week and was very impressed. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. Definitly at the top of the list when it comes to indian food!
I loved the food, the best part of the dinner is the red sauce(butter chicken), it was served very tradionally, and the service was very good. I really am an Indian food lover, and this made me want to come back more and more...Jewel of India is a great restaurant, and try the mango lassi its really good!
Prompt seating and prompt service, which is hard to get at the 'other' good Indian restaurants in the U District area. The Sauces had a nice flavor, not as complex as other Indian food i have had, but still good. The rice had a nice buttery flavor, but seemed a tad bit too moist. The salad and dressing was a bit bland, but then it was a salad...been spoiled by Taste of India's spicy Indian sal...
We have eaten here so many times we are on a first name basis with the owner and family. The food is awesome and reasonably priced. The service is very good. I ahve never eaten here at lunch so I don't know about the buffet, but I would highly recommend Jewel of India if you have a craving for Indian food. I would pick Jewel over Cedar's everytime.
The food here is good. The chai is ok. The buffet is definately a good value, tho I wish they had more selections. I would recommend eating in the restaurant and not getting the food delivered...it takes a long time for the food to arrive.
I have been to this restaurant numerous times, both for the lunch buffet and for dinner. I have been to almost every Indian restaurant in the Puget Sound and I really like this one for the price and quality of food. They don?t water down the buffet like most restaurants and the spices are usually right on.

After reading the reviews on CitySearch my boyfriend and I decided to drive over to the U District and dine at the Jewel of India. What a wonderful Indian restaurant this is! We ordered a mango chicken dish and garlic naan and it was the best Indian food we've ever had! I would highly recommend this Indian restaurant to anyone.
This place is good on most counts. Amazing food. Very well served, fresh, hot and delicious! The service is just great. Very warm and welcoming folks. Ambience is well created too. Prices are more or less right, though I did observe some discrepencies from most other restaurants I keep visiting.
PROS: Good tasty food, good place to visit
CONS: Prices?
As far as I'm concerned, this is the best Indian food on the Ave. The lunch buffet may not be spectacular, but ordering off of the menu is nothing short of sublime. I heartily recommend the Maharaja dinner. The prices are hard to beat as well.
I live right around the corner from Jewel of India. I order out or eat at this restaurant at least once a week. The food is delicious, and the price is great. My favorite dish is the Chicken Tika Masala ... I simply love it. I also enjoy the great Samosa appetizers.
I tried ONCE going to Ceaders which is around the corner as well. I called 1 hour ahead of time, had to wait for another hour to be...

I never thought that I would like Indian food much, because I don't really like the taste of curry. So, when my son suggested this restaurant when we were visiting Seattle, I was very surprised at how good everything was. I especially liked going for the lunch buffet when I could choose whatever looked
good to me.
I confess I am not a big fan of Indian food.
But I can highly recommend the Jewel of
India. They have some good dishes, the
food is always fresh and the people
are just great.

The food here is great, especially the madras chili chicken and the Madras Curry Shrimp. They also have great Samosas. Try their Mango Lassis too. The staff are also very friendly. All in all the best Indian food in the U-District.
The best value for my money. I can eat there everyday. The service is excellent...the best example of service with simplicity. You just feel as if you are at home, just better. Taste...service...value...you name it. I would say it is "THE PLACE TO GO FOR LUNCH AND DINNER"
They have a great, affordable lunch buffet, with lots of items, recently
samosas too! They don't bother you with constant water filling (like other restaurants in the area).
