Great atmosphere, bad kitchen crew
Ordered the veggie samosas, had to send them back twice because they were stone cold in the center. Waitress was pleasant. Order the "sushi grade tuna salad" and it had to be send back because it was way over cooked. Good beer and wine selection and good atmosphere.

An overseas experience!
I had a lot of fun hanging out with my friends at the Red Lion Pub! The service is excellent and it was a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Come for Dinner, Stay for Dessert
There is a great range of food here--everything from traditional English fare like Shepherd's Pie to the Chicken Tikki Masala, which I think is the best thing on the menu. Except for maybe the desserts. The bread pudding is amazing, and the chocolate mousse cake (I forgot the actual name) is the best I've had.

Old Speckled Hen .... on draft? i am in love!
Fresh Newcastle is VERY hard to find in Houston. I have never had a bad tap from here. I had a small tear form on the corner of my eye when I saw the Old Speckled Hen on draft too!! The fish and chips are AWESOME.

GREAT FOOD
The food was absolutely delicicous. I had the quesadillas and dessert following. Both dishes were GREAT!! I have never had quesadillas taste so tasty. Best Pub in Houston!

Best Pub in Houston
The Red Lion is very unique pub especially for Houston. It is cozy and quaint inside and has a great selection of Indian and English food. The house wine is excellent and so is the service! I stopped in with a few friends after hearing one of them rave about the place constantly. The owner introduced himself to us, and chatted with us quite a bit. What a great guy! I went to the red lion pub on April 9 2009 and had a great time! Not only is the food and service amazing,but they have a wide selection of import beers to choose from.... It's back to its best
I posted a critical review a couple of months ago - the food had gone way downhill. I was reluctantly persuaded to return last week and I'm so glad I did. A few welcome tweaks to the menu and the standard of food back to what it used to be - excellent. My husband and I have been back twice since and I'm so happy that I can enjoy my favorite pub again.

This is a great pub and is First Class whether you measure it by the food, the beer quality or the friendly service. The owner and the staff do a tremendous job and are very friendly and responsive. Great Pub, Great Local
If you thought you'd had Fish & Chips in Houston, think again. These are the best I have found. Also try the curries, Kevin has done a great job in creating an "English" curry. The old British-style atmosphere is great and the bar selection and patio are as well. The food however, is a bit too expensive for a pub. Sure it's better than what you find in many bars, but the traditional British dishes are all $12 and up. I'd go back, but not for the food.

Food is a bit heavy, and everything is on the pricier side, but what a relief it is to see and English pub that has more British beers to offer on tap than just Guinness (brewed in Canada, btw) and one or two other brands. Excellent Pub!!!
The Red Lion has become a favorite spot of ours. They have wonderful indoor AND outdoor seating, a dart board, incredibly good food, a huge selection of drinks - and that classic British pub feel - it's a highlight of Houston. We're so glad we discovered it!

Great Spot!
Super comfy place to have some drinks and a bite to eat. The nightly specials caught my eye in a recent ad and I ventured in one evening to try the Curry. The Naan bread was real, you could tell they went all out to make authentic. My waitress said the chef is actually from England! This is my girlfriends new place for girl's night out, $4 Martinis on Mondays is a winner.

Sunday relax
We usually try and make it to the pub on Sunday's--great relaxing place to sit in the fireplace room have a bite and catch up with friends. These guys really make a yummy burger and just tried the brie appetizer--nice. Always something new on the beer menu to try--nice to see seasonal beers and the wine list seems to get better. Love the new Chilean wines. Great prices too.

Awesome Filet!
I was shocked at the Filet on Thursday Steak Night, it was wonderful for $15! My girlfriend was thrilled with her champagne for $5...it was such a nice surprise to find this pub in our neighborhood! Cheers to the owner--he is doing a super job. Its about time someone made it in this location, looks like the Red Lion has found its home.

Great PUB
My girlfriends and I have met several local cool men here. Very low key, neighborhood, best music ever!! Drinks rock and so does the owners wife. She was making sure the bathroom was clean--too sweet! Good bites and comfy atmoshphere. A # 1 local pub where we can enjoy life. Great martini's on MOndays!!! Mary the waitress rocks!!

Martini Monday!!
We stopped by after work Monday and found a nice treat...Martinis were $4 all night and they were terrific. A real experience
Red Lion offers the best of England within a local drive. The owner, Craig, came up and introduced himself without any prompting. His menu and beer selection is far and above the best I have seen and enjoyed in a very long time. Exceptional service, and cold beer, it doesn't get better than this. And Craig is actually from England.

You'll never want to leave!

Since the demise of the Ale House, the area has lacked an authentic, accommodating pub space. This is by far the most welcome addition to the neighborhood's pub/restaurant offerings. The pints are full-sized, the mixed drinks expertly made, and the food consistently well prepared. It is clean without being slick, and the service is friendly and prompt. This is an English Pub!
