Bright inside, finely decorated, very elegant. A great place to impress a date.
The food is 5 star all the way.
The greatest French onion soup on earth!!!
Service is incredible!!!
to many yucky reductions ,not enough basic solid foods
My wife and I enjoyed a great date night in historic Germantown. Germantown Cafe was a great place to start the night before taking a quick drive downtown. The food first and foremost was the highlight. I got the Mahi Special with an excellent balsamic glaze and my wife (a vegetarian) got the Green Plate. Both plates had reasonable portions, were presented well and tasted great. The rolls we...
We celebrated our first wedding anniversary at Germantown cafe...we had a bright window seat. The service was attentive, the bread melted in our mouths. My husbands lamb was to die for. my food was good but nothing to rave about. We decided to skip desert and go somewhere else. We will definately return.
Germantown Cafe is one of my favorite places in Nashville. Their Sunday brunch is such a special treat. The meal starts with their amazing bread that is dusted in cinnamon and sugar. Their fritatas are amazing, their french toast melts in your mouth, and the shrimp grits are insult-your-momma good! I love their pepper-jack grits that come on the side of most dishes for brunch. The last time ...
The ambiance is very nice and classy. It had incredible continental cuisine. The food was excellent. The baked chicken was the best. My husband had a steak he said was only so,so! The servings are generous and they have a variety of prices. Nice view of the down town skyline.
Hi I was wondering who the chef is at The GermanTown Cafe???
This place looks wonderful!
I need to go there some day.
Sincerely, Trevor Winchester of Washington
My husband and I just got back from dinner at Germantown Cafe and we had a great date. We had a great view of the city with all of the open windows. Adam was our waiter and he was fabulous, very attentive and polite. We started out with the fried green tomatoes and the baked brie. Both were delicious. Then we had our salads and bread. I got the plum pork, which was cooked perfectly on the g...
I have been dining here for the past five years and have never had a bad experience. The braised lamb shank is one of the best dishes in town. Period. The service is always on par and the prices are excellent. We are lucky to have such a humble and accomodating restaurant in Nashville. I think some of the more pretentious restaurateurs in town should have dinner at GC and take notes.
My Husband and I love this place, great food, the brunch is the best in town. The steak and eggs and Crab cake pouched eggs over english muffins are to die for. They always have prompt seating, fair prices and great food. You will also love the mini cinnamon rolls they serve with your breakfast!
I went here for lunch. The food was great and the prices were very reasonable. I had the stuffed bread and my boyfriend had the pasta with lamb meatballs, both were delicious. We did however order an apple pie for dessert and it was sickeningly sweet so we had to send it back. Other than that the restaurant is really cute, with a great view of the city. I definitely recommend it for lunch and wan...
We enjoyed this place. Nice food selection, and inventive sides. Great wine list. There were some shady characters in the area as we were leaving but our actual dining experience was lovely
Don't let the bad reviews fool you Nashville diners! Germantown Cafe is one of the best there is. I have been dining there for years and I stop in for dinner, lunch or brunch at least once a month. I have never seen a restaurant more consistent with their service, food, and cocktails. For the folks that think there's not enough flavor, have you tried the Chef's New Orleans Shrimp dish? It is ...
It took the waiter about 30 minutes to get us our drinks. The salad was drenched and looked pitiful, as if it had fallen off a cliff, the lamb tasted like old goat, not lamb, the chicken prosciutto tasted mildly of fish ... in short one of the worst, .... no THE worst dining experiences I have had in Nashville in 4 years! I will never go there again!
My wife and I had dinner this past Saturday at Germantown Cafe. The Cafe has a really intesting menu - a little bit of everything (that sounded good) plus some good southern appetizers (the fried green tomatoes were outstanding!). The atmosphere was "romantic" as advertized, the service was superb. Free valet parking was nice. Decent wine list and fair prices. Total tab for 2 was about $100 inclu...
Although I dined here recently for for a business dinner, I plan on taking my husband back for a romantic dinner. The setting is cozy and intimate & the food is scrumptious. The menu items are intriguing without being boring or too adventurous. The service was fantastic (and I was there on a busy night). All of us at the table shared several dessert items, all of which were outstanding.
My wife and I recently moved to the Germantown neighborhood and absolutely love it. We had heard many good things about the Germantown Cafe and have been excited to try it out. We had brunch there last Sunday and everything was wonderful - we were seated right away, service was excellent and the food was reasonably priced and very very good (she had the shrimp & grits and I had the steak benedi...
Germantown Cafe was an all-around wonderful experience! Perfect for a first date, romantic enough for a fiftieth. The food was incredible (I would recommend the coconut curry salmon) and the view even better. I am not a Nashville native but this restaurant will bring me back a hundred times over! Bravo!
Everything about Germantown Cafe is top notch. The service was quick, efficient and helpful and the food was everything we wanted and more. My hats off to Germantown Cafe...I will come running back.
I picked this restaurant for a special occasion b/c of the great reviews I have read. I made a reservation and specifically asked for a window seat. When they called the day before to confirm my reservation, I once again, asked for a window seat and I was told it was written as my request. My husband and I were both pleasantly surprised to see that they offered complimentary valet parking sinc...
A local favorite, and with the recent renovations, the ambience is much improved (reduction in noise level with the expanded space). We have never been disappointed with the service and nearly everything we have tried has been more than tasty. Brunch is good but the dinner selections still prove to be the preferred offering from my perspective. The Plum Pork is absolutely divine!
I have been a Germantown regular for several years now and it never fails to impress me. The service is top-notch, the atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing, and the food is absolutely delicious. You can't beat Germantown for Sunday brunch. The french toast (which changes weekly) is always delicious as is the omelet. You don't want to miss the little fried cinnamon-sugar biscuits either....scrum...
Several friends and I went here for brunch one Sunday and it was one of the best meals I have had. I ordered the Crab Cake Benedict and it was fantastic. The others ordered specials of the day and everyone loved their food. We also go an order of French Onion soup and it was superb. You have to like cheese though to enjoy this because there was a ton of it on their. The view of the city was ...
My boyfriend and I ate there recently for brunch and it was wonderful. We both ordered the crabcake Benedict it was cooked to perfection. Their french onion soup is the best in the world, and their bread is like little doughnuts sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Great value, excellent food, and good atmosphere. highly recommend.
For those who regularly attend casual sit-down eateries, Germantown Cafe offers upgrades in each area of the fine dining experience. From the location to parking to the furniture and decor, it distinquishes itself. The preparation and presentation of the food was done very well. The caesar salad is one of the best I've eaten and I highly recommend the plum pork.(Sorry non-pork eater, just more po...
I have been going to Germantown cafe almost since they have been open. As I have watched them get more successful, I have (with my usual pessimism) been waiting for the day when I would feel like one of the masses or a number. That has never happened. I am always recognized at the door by The guy at the door. Even though I can't remember his name he always remembers mine. The rest of staff t...
Where to begin? The evening was fantastic. I asked for a table with a view and at sunset it doesn't get much better. From the complimentary valet, that had my car ready when I walked out the door, to the knowledgable staff, inviting atmosphere and distinct dishes everything was impecable. Timing on the meal was great, presentation on the food was supurb and make sure you save room for desert!
We had our second dining experience at Germantown Cafe and the only thing I can say is that they improved on perfection, raised their own bar and exceeded our level of expectation. From the the valet, the hostess (Kelley who is great), the manager, the bartenders and Jason (one of the best waiters I have ever had) to the absolutely exquisite food, it was a perfect blend of service. We were greete...
I tried the banana bread french toast. It was absolutely the best french toast I've ever had in my life. My friend ordered the shrimp and grits and loved it.
Our first experience to Germantown Cafe was wonderful! From the minute I made reservations and talking to the lady on the other end of the phone, I knew our evening was going to be one not to forget. Our reservations were confirmed the day before, we received a warm welcome at the door, the servers were knowledgeable-friendly-attentive; the food was outstanding - we had the entrees of crabcakes...
Ate here last night with three girlfriends. Had the steak special - it was divine! One of the best steaks I've ever had! The appetizer special (shrimp struedel) was also delicious, as was the apple walnut dessert. My friend had the green plate and the mushrooms were great. Cool restaurant, neat view, good service. I'll definately return!
The lamb was sweet and tender, the pork with plum sauce was sensational. I'd add some sherry to the French onion soup, but it was a wonderful meal. Save room for the chocolate mouse cake. It is denser than lead on a cold day with chocolaty goodness.
My first time at Germantown cafe was outstanding. I had the rack of lamb and it was the best I have ever had. The butternut squash and asparagus that came with it was perfect. The appetizers were also exelent. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. I also thought the prices were okay especially for how good the food was. The veiw of the Nashville skyline was beautiful.
We enjoy dining in resturants that take pride in the food they serve. Germantown Cafe is top of the list in Nashville. *There are options for vegetarians*
If you haven't tried the fried green tomatoes or french onion soup, you are totally missing out! I don't like tomatoes and I'm not a huge fan of french onion soup, but I LOVE them at this restaurant. The brie is also amazing. The service is top notch and the ambience couldn't be better.
I had a birthday dinner with 20 people on a Tuesday evening. The staff was incredibly accomodating. Service was great. Atmosphere was quaint and intimate with beautiful view of downtown. Everyone loved the food. I would highly recommend this for this type of situation. It was a great 30th birthday!
My boyfriend and I eat at Germantown regulary and are never disappointed. They have a great wine list and the menu has just enough choices to please any diner, yet not so many that you don't know what to pick. The Southwestern shrimp and the fried green tomatoes are our favorite appetizers and the house salad with the blue cheese vinagarette is quite pleasing. The crab cakes are the best I've ...
I've eaten here twice now, and each time was a great experience. The fried green tomatos and squash fritters are great appetizer choices! I was in love with the Salmon entree . . . I don't think I've had a curry sauce that good even in an Indian restaurant. The apple desert is amazing . . . we had to get it each time! Service was very professional and attentive . . . my only complaint is that the...
I visited Germantown Cafe on my birthday, and it was a wonderful experience. The view was fantastic, the service was attentive but not overbearing, and the food was delightful-- and a great value. I tried the green plate of the day--marinated portobello with squash, spinach, and asparagus-- and it was quite possibly one of the best vegetarian entrees I have had in Nashville-- a perfectly compleme...
Germantown Cafe made our list for brunch this weekend and it will probably become a regular. Just like the decor - the menu selections were simple, straight forward, and very pleasing. The shrimp and grits was the table favorite and the french toast was very good. All in all the meal reminded us of brunch comforts with a modern feel.
I try to eat here whenever I am in town on business. The place is very big city, but the staff lacks the attitude that usually accompanies places like this. The food is always good, as is the service. I think that they have done something to combat their noise problem, too. I look forward to making it in for brunch sometime; meanwhile, the salmon at dinner will keep me coming back.
I had a good, but not great experience. It was good enough, that I may give them another try. The service and management were very friendly and attentative. The food had hints of being great, but lacked in some areas. The Caesar salad lacked depth and balance in the dressing. Again, it was good, but not great. The Tasso gravy and asparagus were the best part of the Chicken Tasso. The sauce had ju...
We took a party of 11 to the Germantown Cafe for a birthday dinner. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to assist us. With all of the rave reviews we'd heard about Germantown Cafe, it was kind of a let down. The food quality was disappointing. The appetizers, squash fritters, escargot and crab cakes, were fine. The entrees, however, lacked. The steak, ordered medium, was c...
This place is a real find. The food is quite delicious and straightforward and an almost impossibly good value - I don't think I saw a single entrée over 19 bucks. The room is beautiful, with a great view of downtown. I've been quite a few times and never really been disappointed with anything--lunch is particulary bustling and they always manage to get me in and out in less than an ho...
Four of us ate at Germantown Cafe last night. The owner said it was their busiest night yet. We arrived 6ish and were seated quickly. We weren't seated by the windows, but the view was still good and the ambience very nice. The food was wonderul! The favorites at our table were the Squash Fritters and the Southwestern Chicken Strudel. Both were absolutely yummy! The Caesar salads were bett...
i've eaten here several times and everything has always been great. their cooked vegetables are phenomenal, very fresh and done just right.
I have dined here a few times now, and have not been dissappointed. The lamb and strip are fantastic, especially for $19.00. I have to say I agree about the house salad, but I don't think you can expect much more for a free starter salad. Who else gives you that nowadays? Apple pie and chocolate bread pudding are my picks for dessert. Also, a very interesting wine list, grouped by price. I ...
