Kisaku is amazing. I've gone at least once a week since it opened. I highly recommend sitting at the sushi bar. Nakano-san and Shimi always come up with really creative things, and all the food is always amazing. Take a minute to ask what's fresh, what's in season, and what you just absolutely must try. Definitely take their suggestions and be adventurous.

Kisaku is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in the Seattle area for sushi. Although they are a little bit on the pricey side, the food is definitely high quality. I would recomment making reservations.
I have been to Kisaku a few times now and every experience is different. There is always a great variety of fresh seafood and the servers are very knowledgeable about the menu. I was a bit of a novice on my first visit and I was directed towards a few simple rolls that I really enjoyed. Be careful because it can get busy at times!
Okay, I'll admit it, Kisaku isn't the "quickest" restaurant around. (That's the only reason I didn't give a full 5 stars.) You might have to wait for a table, but there's a reason for that, and that reason is because people know good sushi when they find it, and nobody wants to leave. If you're looking for some fast-food style, grab-n-go sushi, then get out of the way, head on down to Blue-C or s...
I have been to this restaurant three times, but only eaten there once. Why? Because the last two times I've been there, it's taken 5-10 minutes just to be acknowledged by the host, who is too busy working the phones to talk to the actual customers in the restaurant. After finally talking to us, the wait for a table (the first time) was too long and we went elsewhere. Last night, we'd planned ...
Everyone I know loves this place, myself included. They're reasonably priced for sushi, and everything is always fresh and tasty. They do everything well--their rolls are great (they have some of their own that are unique) and for nigiri/sashimi you can get everything you'd want.
They're always packed, so make a reservation!
I really love this restaurant. It's a little more expensive than my regular hole-in-the-wall joints, but it's worth it. The sushi is good, the service is great, the sake is awesome! The only problem is that the place is ALWAYS busy. Make reservations or go later at night or you'll be waiting in line!
Disappointed. I was a fan of this restaurant but last night I went there with a group of mix Japanese and Americans, the sushi they served was worse than Kaiten sushi. Fish was king of old.
But when I passed some Japanese people sitting at the counter, the sushi they are eating looks very good.
Does this happen because we were a big group? Or they though we were all Americans who do not know th...
This was a great sushi joint! We tried the chef's choice sashimi, but nigiri style. All I can say is DAMN! I recommend the chefs choose your sushi, cuz it is the bomb. The service was less than spectacular, but if you order at the right times you'll be good. The house sake is only $6 for a large carafe. The end bill for 4 was $175, and we were extravagant. ENJOY.
Kisaku is an amazing place for sushi. The service is great and I have never been disappointed for the chefs are very creative. I highly recommend the eel box. It is one of my favorites.
I love sushi, and I eat it all the time, and I really do think this delivers for the freshest, tastiest cuts without any of the attitude of those downtown places. Sure, you pay a bit more than some other places, but I really appreciate knowing that everything is going to be great. I like the agedashi tofu appetizer, it's a little bit crunchy and in a great broth. I also like some of their rolls, ...
I went there for a girlfriends birthday and we had reservations at 6:30pm, but we had to be out by 8pm since another reservation was already made. basically we were rushed to order and rushed to leave by the time we were done with our food. the waitress was pretty much pushing us out. there was no time to really do anything. we ordered the chef's special and it really isn't that great compare...
We adore this place! We sat at the sushi bar and the chef kept picking things out for us and smiling charmingly when we liked them. The salmon, hamachi, saba, and age were all great. We'd never had smelt before, but we liked it. And things we'd never gotten along with, like sea urchin gonads and fried shrimp heads, turned out to be excellent too. The sea urchin was in a small handroll of crispy ...
I like it!!! I finally found a sushi restaurant than is very reasonably price and taste good. All the sushi special rolls are less than $8-can't find that around in Seattle.
A friend and I went for the first time today. The restaurant was clean and inviting, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The sushi, tempura, and yaki soba were all delicious. The iced tea was alright, we suspect it was Nestea instant tea. They could experiment with better teas. Will be back though, and will tell friends to check it out! The sushi chef was very friendly and chatty,...
This was a good spot to take a first timer to. we just started out wit the basics of veg tempura, spicy tuna, california roll, and spider. Yum!
We love sushi and my fiance and I decided to try a new restaurant recently closer to where we lived near Greenlake. I have to say that we didn't have a great overall first impression when they sat us way in the back of the restaurant in this very small cold room... I guess it would be okay if you wanted some private time with your significant other, but we felt so excluded from the life of the r...
always consistent.....a little pricey but worth it because the quality is so good, and consistenly good...the owner is very nice and the place has a good atmosphere....a great date place...
My wife and I visited Kisaku on Saturday with our friends who are American. Although the restaurant was packed, our server (Japanese) was very attentive and friendly. Since we wanted to try something new, I requested Chef Tasting menu ("Omakase") the day before which was $50 per person (usually Chef Tasting menu needs to be requested 2 - 3 days ahead of time, though). It came with 7 course starin...
I come here all of the time. This place is awesome, but you gotta know what to order! When in doubt, sit at the sushi bar and ask the sushi chefs what they have that's fresh, good and recommended. They will not steer you wrong!
The service is attentive, the restaurant is clean and well put together, and the food is very good.
If you want a real treat, call in and order the Omakase dinne...
Generous portions, fresh fish, lovely presentation, pleasant service. The caterpillar role was amazing as was the nigiri salt water eel was delightful. We ordered several roles, my husband had a plate of sashimi, that he loved but the best part was the bill. I was shocked at how little we paid for several rolls and a bottle of sake. We will be going back.
Kisaku regulars like to keep this amazing hidden treasure a secret, and for good reason. The restaurant is both comfortable and romantic, with both plentiful personal space and conversation buzz. The fish is fresh and portions are generous, with rolls varying from 4-8 pieces. Their tuna tartare appetizer is so good, you might have to take a minute alone to reflect on how glorious life is. I have ...
I've only been in a couple of times for lunch, but what a great place. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Great staff.... The sushi is as good as anywhere in Seattle. The Copper River Salmon was AWESOME. Everything tasted very fresh and was presented very well. Good beer, wine and sake selection.
I'd give it 5-star, but World Class is quite a high statement. One of my favorite sushi restaurants in a town full of them. In a nice neigborhood and across the street from a good bar.
This is another great Sushi Find in Seattle. I loved the Kisku Roll, and the place just has a good vibe. Keep up the good work!
We go to Kisaku at least once every 2 weeks - the best sushi in Seattle. Ask for omakase (chef's choice) if you are adventurous - Nakano-san and his staff are skilled chefs. We are sushi-heads to be sure, and the quality of fish here compares to what you get at Nobu (NYC), Matsuhisa (LA), Bar Masa (NYC)...at fabulous neighborhood prices. A gem.
Been eating here since Kisaku opened. LOVE IT. sit at the bars ask Nakano for recomendations. The kobachi is always a treat, excellent agadashi tofu, Greenlake roll, Wallaingford roll and Devil's Vegtable roll are all favorites of mine. Try the sesame passionfruit dessert . great service fresh food. always a pleasure!
Kisaku has a very lively ambience and a great selection of daily specials. Specifically, their oyster on a half-shell with ponzu sauce is very delicious. If you are away from the sushi bar, you should ask the server for their fresh sushi specials.
They have very nice looking and tasty appetizers, plus home made desserts like shiso/grapefruit sorbet, sweet potato cake, etc.
It's a cozy neighborhood sushi restaurant with a wonderful ambience, esp. for dinner. Very fresh fish and there was a great variety. You must get the oysters on a half shell for an appetizer. Not too pricey. It's the highest rated Japanese restaurant by the Seattle Times for good reason.
Kisaku has one of the most dramatic menus of fish I have seen. On our first visit we treated ourselves to omakase (let the chef pick our meal), and tasted varieties of fish we had never seen on a sushi bar! Everything was delicate, beautifully presented, and every texture and flavor was distinct and dramatic. The sake selection is superb, and the desserts are creative and reasonably priced. The s...
I went with my father here for his birthday and was delighted by the quality of the fish. The calamari was perfect (lightly breaded, not chewy, fresh). Make reservations for a Sunday and you will be treated to live music (classical guitar). I will defitely be returning!
Went there for a company anniversary. The restaurant closed itself to the public and let us have free reign. Wonderful toro, and some of the freshest hamachi this side of the Pacific. Attentive and friendly crew. 3 thumbs up!
Kisaku has some great sushi without the high price tag of some of the other top end sushi restaurants in and around Seattle. Their rock Shrimp and Calamari appetizers are worth the trip itself. The chefs are very pesonable and creative. A must visit for Sushi fans.
I am picky about food, and simply put Kisaku has the best Sushi in Seattle. All of the Sushi is fresh and excellently prepared. The seared albacore is exceptional, as is the salmon. In truth, everything is exceptional. If you are adventurous, ask the chef to make you a role of their choosing. I have never been disappointed when I have done this.
Although Kisaku is a relatively new restaurant, the owner, Nakano, has been serving some of the very best sushi to Seattleites for many years. His sushi art, personable service, and restaurant ambiance are just the best. If you are a sushi addict you will love the freshness and preparation at Kisaku. If you are new and trying sushi for the first time, Nakano will introduce you to it in a way t...
The food is FANTASTIC and the service is exceptional. After eating at Kisaku's, I wont eat sushi anywhere elseKisaku's is the very BEST! Kisaku's has set a VERY HIGH standard for me and my friends. We used to frequent other sushi bars, but not any more. Thankfully our friends feel the same way, and are more than happy to drive from afar for unmatched sushi, service, and ambiance at Kisakus!
This a great place to eat sushi. Fresh fish and great service.
We have eaten here for lunch and dinner at least a dozen times. Sometimes we go for business sometimes for pleasure; most of the time it is best to make a reservation for dinner. I love the hand rolled fried salmon skin roll.
I found Kisaku to be relaxing and comfortable. The Sushi and Sashimi is the best and one of the only places with the fresh sea eel. There are so many Sushi places popping up and most are just imposters trying to capture short term success. I found Kisaku to be traditional and should be around for years to come. Great food and a cool little neighborhood too. Certainly is not Belltown, which ...
Kisaku has a nice comfortable atmosphere, excellent fresh fish, and a nice menu of appetizers. The agedashi tofu is the best in the city.
