Is this BAR really my "classroom"?
Staff was very informative, professional and serious about the bar business. The school was recommended by another graduate because the staff really gives you a real life energy of what it is like to work in a bar and help to get great jobs. I was recommended this school from a friend. My favorite part was the personal touch in teaching and lots of encouragement I got. They teach you everything, You will not have time to get bored as it is fast paced, but they let you take it over again if you need to - I did - just because I misssed a day. Encoraging and supportive
James was very funny and engaging. He demonstrated knowledge of wine and spirits. Browsing thru the website influenced my decision. Reading through the detailed descriptions of what was offered, plus the comments made by past graduates convinced me that NYBS would be good for me. I went to several schools before signing up for this one. It seemed the most modern and CLEAN. Which it was. The school itself was setup really nice...like a real bar. The instructors are great BUT it was SOOOO OVERCROWDED. They fail to let you know that they teach TWO classes at a time not just one!! It's the only school backed by the New York State Education Department. It covers everything well and pushes you to learn all the materials,all important points and provides lots of real-world advice in class. I checked out about four others and t his one seemed to be the best option. When I came in and checked out the facilities and instructors I was sold. I feel they are very competent and able instructors. It is my belief that he is directly responsible for me retaining so much information in a small amount of time. I was searching the web and found the site to be straight forward. Upon visiting the school I could tell it was a professional atmosphere. Fun For Everyone
The instructor is an absolute doll - he knows what he's doing, loves it, and makes it fun. Extensive prep, the range and depth of the material covered. Learning about the materials & business, not just drink making, really interested me. fun + never boring
It seemed as though you would learn necessary info in becoming a bartender at a reasonable price. The fact that once you pay you can return as many times as necessary is a big plus! I enjoyed practicing for the speed test. Great teacher, he is able to teach all of the necessary info while still being funny and energetic. The class never got boring.

Mixing drinks and learning

They tell you that they are affiliated with all these bartending organizations... but what they don't tell you is that the "organizations that help with placement" were invented by them!
