No Other Place Like It I love training at POW. It is so different that any other type of center. It is more of a school than a health club, but I dropped my health club membership when I started a couple years ago, because the classes are so intense that there was no point of going to the gym. At first I didn't think I was a class person - but I cant not imagine training any other way now. The classes are always di... Read More On CitysearchAriannaGonz 2/16/2010
Knowledgeable Staff; Get In Shape & Learn A Skill I've been a student at POW for almost 5 years now and I highly recommend it. It's like having a personal trainer while still getting to work out with other people. The school offers a wide variety of classes (Krav Maga, Muay Thai, Boxing, Kickboxing and Brazilian Jujitsu ) at a wide variety of times, which is helpful for someone with a busy schedule like me. It's not a traditional martial arts sc... Read More On Citysearchpgann1 2/15/2010
Great Workout, Great Place I've been coming to POW for over 6 months and I love it. I have never been in such great shape and have never enjoyed working out so much. Each class is totally different, so you NEVER get bored. Each month has a different focus, and the owner/head instructor gives special seminars that are built around that focus. One month you might get a great core workout plan and the next month an eating pla... Read More On Citysearchtwilly68 2/3/2010
Disappointing Experience So when I came across Pow!! on the web I was super excited. It seemed to have everything I wanted: a multitude of co-ed classes that not only taught serious martial arts technique and forms but also a good solid cardio workout.
PROS: 1) Close to my house in South Loop.
2) Wide variety of classes available all day long.
3) Sparring available with actual boxing & UFC rings
4) Co-Ed classe... Read More On Citysearchkickarts 6/23/2009
Degerberg Academy 2 I had high hopes for this place. WhenI saw on their website that they taught like 15 different Martial Arts, especially Brazillian Ju Jutsu and MMA, an alarm went off in my head saying, "...careful, sounds like another Degerberg type school". Boy was I right. It's like an exact replica of Degerberg, only these guys have "better" Martial Art styles to learn from which is a big plus (Degerberg d... Read More On Citysearchvegitoboi 12/3/2007
Unprofessional, Low quality instructors Very unprofessional business.
On my first day I told the instructor I was new to Muay Thai and he shrugged with sarcasm. I had a black eye as a result of not being told how to handle the pads correctly and then almost broke another student's foot for not being instructed how to hold the kick pads (he kicked my elbow).
I had a severe, chronicle back issue and despite doctor's recommendation th... Read More On Citysearchhbucher 11/24/2007
Unprofessional, disorganized Very disorganized. Classes are all over the place, virtually anywhere. Students have to help preparing the class. New students are supposed to blend in all by themselves.
