  1. The best Cheesy Eggs
I love breakfast at Kitchenette, and when I say love I mean LOOOOOVEE!! the scrambled eggs with cheese just melt in your mouth, and I love that I can have them for lunch if I'm in the mood. The only drawbacks: It gets crowded quickly, the tables are a little tight to get in and out of, and you might find yourself waiting a bit if it's packed.

  3. How DO they do it???
Everything I've ordered here, from the turkey meatloaf to the blueberry pancakes, not only tastes yummy but like it wasn't made in a restaurant - like it was made for you in someone's kitchen, so I guess Kitchenette is an appropriate name! Usually when the server says 'everything's good' you know they're full of it - not so here :) Prices are slightly higher then average but the portion sizes ...

  4. Terrible Service
Usually when I go for dessert, I love what I order, it's never crowded and service is fine. I went for dinner and it was packed. When they finally took our order, we waited forever to get our food and when everyone else in my party's food did arrive, I was told that what I ordered was unavailable and I had to choose another option, which was terrible. An awful experience which ruined what used to...

  5. High Quality Food makes up for Zero room for movement
Decided to have Sunday Brunch here with a girlfriend of mine. First thing we noticed was about six groups of people standing outside. I felt good because i knew that was a good sign about the place, the only problem was that there was no waiting area inside because it was cold outside. After about a twenty minute wait we were seated. If you love being closely seated next to people you don't know ...

  6. Comfort Food and friendly service close to Columbia
Was in the Columbia U area spending the holidays with my sister and went to this place a lot. They use homemade recipes (pancakes are great!) for almost everything, and it is really delicious (though probably not the healthiest!) I tagged along with my sister and her crew for brunch, then returned on my own during the week. Had the same waitress most of the time, megan i think, was really help...

  7. great brunch spot!
Kitchenette is a great brunch spot although it is a little small. You can sit at the counter or sit at the tables. The tables all have old door tops. It's a prettty unique spot and very fun. Oh, the food is great too.

  8. Great Customer Service
The menu does not have a huge selection....but the food is very tasty and good. There is even a hamburger on the menu for over $15! What sets this place apart from other restaurants is the ambiance and setup of the restaurant itself and the friendly and knowledgable staff that are here to greet and serve you. I felt very welcome here by everyone and was treated like a king. The thought t...

  9. SeamlessWeb needs to drop this place
I was one of the people who waited for hours and got NO food. Last time we deal with you. This place is horrible, what appalling customer service, especially the attitude we got when we called. Too bad I can't give ZERO stars.

  10. Appalling customer service
We ordered for delivery - they were more than 90 minutes late and when we opened the bags we found they had only delivered part of the order. Never again - steer clear!

  11. Cold or Missing Food, Take Your Pick
The question to ask yourself when ordering delivery from Kitchenette is, do you want your food cold, or do you want it at all? The food was 1:40 minutes late, and was cold. Our office meeting had already finished by the time it arrived and then over 25% wasn't even there. And half of what they brought was inedible. Sad, because we really wanted to love this place.

  12. I'd give it zero stars but I can't - so 1 star is really zero.
Apparently they think that if you used seamless web to order your food you don't have to answer to your customers. When the list went around I thought to myself "self, what food would still be edible when its delivered late and cold?". I chose the turkey meatloaf and mashed potatoes. After missing out delivery time, and hanging up on our co-worker in charge of the order, the food arrived. Hav...

  13. Sad
This restaurant usually has great food and decent service (at least last time I was there 6 months ago). Everyone has their bad day and it takes a lot to write off a place like this based upon one experience, but this is that exception. There is no excuse for delivery to be more than 1 1/2 hours late, cold food, missing food and hanging up on us when we call for the third time. If you can't ge...

  15. Lighten up NYC Brunch Goers!
We waited at least 20 minutes for a table at Kitchenette's Uptown restaurant and while the tables were packed and we had to sit close to a neighboring table, we got water at our table right away, the server came by to ask for drinks within a reasonable amount of time and we ordered when we were ready. It was packed and when we asked about our pancakes taking a bit longer than we anticipated the w...

  16. Best Brunch in NYC
I have been here for brunch on a number of occasions and I have been consistently happy. Oftentimes, I come here with 3 or 4 friends for a mini-book club while dining on the extremely delicious comfort food. At no point are we ever rushed or asked to leave. One of the greatest things about this place is that once you are situated you are not expected to get up and leave to make room for the ne...

  17. Bad service, bad food. Definitely Skip.
At first impression, we wrongly assumed we were in for a nice dining experience. The place is decorated nicely. But the dining experience was miserable. Right after ordering, we asked to move because the sun was blaring right in our eyes and the staff refused saying we just placed an order (not sure why that would matter). We inisted and were reluctantly moved and they never waited on us again af...

  18. cute & charming feel
The food is good but nothing spectacular. It's great for brunch or lunch. Nice place for first dates because it's not TOO romantic yet it's a comfy place.

  19. cute, okay
The writers of the kitchenette menu had a knack for making the dishes sound really tasty, if perhaps a little exaggerated. The food was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. My tex mex eggs tasted a lot better than they looked (thank goodness! UGLY!) and my sister's peach crepes were flavorful, if overly chewy. The dining room is very crowded, with precious little space between differe...

  20. Best comfort food!
Kitchenette is the best place to go for comfort food. The staff is great and the food is amazing! The portions are HUGE and you?ll definitely have leftovers for later. The prices are decent (around $15 for an entr?e for dinner) and it is far uptown but it is definitely worth the trip. There isn?t a lot of seating so get there early! They also have dessert you can order to go (if you don?t sa...

  21. Excellent Brunch!!
I went here last Sunday for brunch for the first time. It was very good. I had the Berry pancakes with the turkey sausage. The decor was cute it had a rustic like theme. You will see alot of Columbia University students there. I recommend everyone to try it. I was even lucky enough to find a parking space around the corner but it is hard to determine whether or not parking is always easy to find.

  22. BEST MEATLOAF EVER
When I first came for dinner I was a bit weary with my girlfriends decision to dine there; however, after one taste of their turkey meatloaf and mac & cheese I knew we made the right decision. The night crowd at the restaurant isn't too big which makes for better service. Their wine and beer menu is pretty good and their desserts excellent.

  23. cardboard, rare and well done
My wife and I went on Easter for brunch and maybe the regular cooks were out that morning or something. We both ordered the waffle special, which was expensive for a waffle. One was as dry and tasteless as cardboard (really, cardboard is a good comparision) and the other equally tasteless but undercooked, so it was more like soggy cardboard. The butter didn't help because they didn't give us a...

  24. User review by tyme_piece
I went to Kitchenette this weekend for brunch. The place is absolutely adorable and the food is delicious. However, the service is absolutely horrible. Since the place is really tiny they have tables of two pushed together so you are basically sitting next to strangers. My party ordered before the party sitting next to us and not only did they get their food first but they also ate their food...

  25. The WORST Dining Experience
From beginning to end the staff was RUDE. We were completely ignored, at least 6 other parties were seated before us with the same number as us and without reservation. When asked to explain the hostess told us she would "lose money" by seating us instead of them. The manager and hostess both raised their voices & pointed their fingers in our face. It was completely uncalled for, and completely s...

  26. Kitchenette Uptown- delicious AND reasonable!
I attend Teacher's College at Columbia University part-time. I was looking for a restaurant for dinner before my once-a-month evening class. After learning about Kitchenette Uptown on CitySearch, I went for dinner last night. All I can say is WOW! It is a cute, fun little place that smells like the kitchen you WISH your mom had! I had an "early dinner" special -- the Four Cheese Macar...

  28. My Mom hated to cook...
and was never very happy when she was in the kitchen. I think everyone in Kitchenette feels the same way. It is cute but the food is only average, it's expensive and rarely comes up to the expectations raised by the descriptions. The butter and jam comes in tiny little paper cups. The service is either clueless or surly or both. Worst of all - the biscuits are leaden! Who ever heard of toasting ...

  29. Awful Service, average food
The wait staff and manager are rude and terribly inefficient. I observed this behavior with other patrons and experienced it first hand. The food definitely does not make up for the POOR, POOR, service. This place only feels like the home of a dysfunctional family. There are many better options in the neighborhood and I suggest you take your money and your friends elsewhere.

  30. brunch rules
I have to admit that I was a little underwhelmed the one time I went to Kitchenette Uptown for dinner, but brunch was a totally different story! The plates are generous and tasty, with nice little twists on traditional brunch fare and it's a lovely, bright room to chat with a friend and enjoy a weekend morning, or afternoon.

  31. hype?
I don't really understand why some people like to eat here so much. The place itself looks adorable, and the food and desserts look delicious, too. But the two meals I had there were rather bland, and there are definitely better dessert places in the area.

This place has the rigfht idea- great homestyle kitchen ambience with an adorable counter and bakery display, unfortunately they fell into everything that stinks about New York- AN OVERPRICED Menu with way little bang for the buck- In momma's kitchen you want big portions and tasty homestyle favorites with some upscale twists- the portions instead are tiny and unsatisfying, the service is slow, a...
