This is a unique cable car located on the bluff in Dubuque. It is a very old structure that still runs pretty much the way it was built back in the beginning in the 1800s. I for one did not ride on this thing. I thought it to be a bit scary looking. It is not open year round, closed during the winter months. The price to take this short steep ride is only about $2.
Here is a chance to ride a working cable car from April through November. It was built in 1882! Fortunately the cable cars were completely rebuilt in 1977. You can ride up the steep hill to the top and experience the wonderful view of the Mississippi River and three states (Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin)!
