Love this place try it if you like amazing Indian food
We had a very pleasant dining experience at Jaipur for both lunch and dinner. Lunch was reasonable, but dinner was expensive for the portions we received.
Excellent Indian food and if you're interested in something new, you should give it a try. Very different cuisine than most are probably used to but it's fun to experiment and try new stuff. Enjoy!
My wife and I hadn't visited Jaipur in several years. Boy did we make a mistake. My wife's entree was served a full 10 minutes after mine (that's not an exaggeration - as hard as it is to imagine). When it arrived, there were no apologies or excuses. The waiter later claimed the cause was a substitute chef, but since the quality of the food was still good, I suspect it's a management problem....
The service is outstanding, the ambience is peaceful, and the food is heavenly.
They serve a great muligatawny soup, a divine chicken makhni, and the kahbuli nan kicks butt-- heck everything I've had there has been wonderful.
For Indian food, they are reasonably priced -- if you want cheap then go elsewhere and wonder why things all taste the same or swim in fat.
Excellent flavors! I had a chicken and a shrimp curry. Aromatic and delicious. I could taste the spices very well. Definately will return. I ordered take out. Restaurant seems pleasant and clean inside. I would give them 5 stars except the parking is a bit difficult. Will have to valet or park at the near by mall.
I used to be a loyal Jaipur customer despite the fact that the food was consistently way too spicy (and I consistently asked them to make my aloo gobi mild). That changed when the rude service on the phone (I only ever got delivery) trumped the merits of the cuisine. Customer service is abysmal though the food is not as greasy as many Indian places.
our waiter was non-existant, most of the serving was done by an overworked bus boy.
the rice pilauw was wet and sloppy with fruit from a del monte can.
the sag paneer (spinach and cheese) was ok, but seriously lacking salt.
the rogan josh (lamb curry) was nothing great, but the most decent dish on my table.
we had to wait 45 minutes for our chai and naan to arrive, actually, our server didn't...
I simply loved this place, it's tastefully decorated, very romantic and the food is good too! Lots of variety to choose from, so it can accomodate even the most discerning tastes. I really enjoyed the service too, the waiters are very patient and willing to give pointers. All in all a very pleasant dining experience.
I run down to the Westside Pavilion for Jaipur' lunch buffet whenever I can. Unlike some indian buffets, Jaipur is consistently good. Food is hot and constantly being replaced. Clean. Good variety and nice Vegi and meat selections (if you're into that). Fresh nan brought to your table whenever you ask - never soggy! Excellent chutneys and sides. Selections vary day to day but the best dish...
Ok this place is fairly bare bones, but the food is good. Definately try the chicken tikka masala, and the lamb spinach dish (can't remember the name) they are great! Make sure to also order plenty of naan bread to soak up all of the sauce! They do delivery which is always convenient too! Come here if you want good indian food, but do'e expect much more. The service is decent, parking is conv...
Highly recommend the lunch buffet. The selection is outstanding and the staff is friendly and attentive. The Chicken Makni and Tandoori is very good, as are the standards such as Spinach Saag and Lentils. Not to overuse a well-worn cliche, but you will not leave here hungry.
I typically used to get delivery because it's more pleasant to eat in my home than in the cramped and uncomfortable dining room. The bathrooms look like an Alabama truck stop.
I called to order my usual delivery order and was told very rudely that I needed to order more or he would not deliver. My order was rudely cancelled and I was hung up on. The proprietors don't know how to treat custo...
I asked delivery because they say they "deliver" on their web site. The person on the phone said,"For the delivery, you have to call a different number." So I called the number he gave me, and found out it was a delivery company whick had nothing to do with the restaurant. The delivery company charges us $7.00 for delivery! I felt the restaurant should have explained about that when he gave me th...
i'm usually not an all you can eat buffet fan since i'm a believer of quality is better than quanity but i was decided to try it because of my husband's love for rice pudding. we were disappointed. the rice pudding was pretty bland tasting mostly of condensed milk. mango lassi is ok but the plain lassi comes salted and seasoned making it taste more like the persian yogurt drink than plain lass...
Tried this tonight, Sunday- right off the bat, parking is hard to find and it is $4.50 to valet.
The restaunt is very small, and their few tables for 2 are butted up to other tables, so you better like it cozy. The lighting is too bright for my tastes, and you can hear other people's conversations, so people tend to talk less.
They did start you off with two papadums and mint chutney (one...
It was ok, the food is on the spicy, spicy end of Indian Restaurants even though I ordered a dish that is traditionally mild. They also charge separately for rice. It's "upscale" but didn't knock my socks off for the price.
I've been coming to weekend brunches, and occasionally dinner, at Jaipur for about six years. I think that what I appreciate most about the food is that it's not OVERspiced (and by spiced, I don't just mean heat). Their sauces are delicious and on the subtle side, which IMO is as it should be. They don't have to shock you with strong flavors and high heat, the food is just good. The brunches ...
They have a great buffet, but the dinner is by far top notch. It is small and quaint, excellent service, with a good range of Indian beers. Highly reccommend the Chicken Tikka Masala.
PROS: The food is the best Indian you will have
CONS: Interior could look prettier
Simply put, I recommend this place. If you're just looking for good Indian food and not a stuffy ol' joint where waiters will polish your shoes while you eat, then this is the place. Also, in response to the previous reviewer that complained about the waiters telling him not to waste food, it clearly states so on the buffet tables. Yes, there's a sign and I totally agree with it. Most Indian i...
I really liked this place! Although the ambiance is simple--it's a clean and cute place--the food was really good. I would consider this one of those restaurants that you can always count on for a good experience...you know, the kind where you want good food, but want to come as you are. Thumbs up!
This place is the best Indian place in the area. We went for champagne brunch on a saturday and the place was moderately full. What impressed me, was the fresh selsction of lamb and chicken (as well as salad and other condiments) as well as their extensive chutneys. All available at the same low rate. Even desert was catered for you. And FREE REFILLS for brunch is unheard of. My friend and I (two...
I have never been treated more poorly than I was treated in this restaurant. The restaurant was barely half full and my boyfriend and I sat for nearly 20 minutes with our menus closed ready to order without even being offered drinks. In the meantime the waitor even had extra time to set up table and even refill our water, yes, we were sitting there long enough without being helped for our water t...
We passed this place by several times until trying it last week. The decor is certainly pink, as is the theme, but warm. We were seated quickly on a Saturday night. The menus did not give enough detail for people that are not familiar with Indian food. When my wife asked what one dish was like, she was told, "It's an Indian dish." This was not overly helpful. The appetizers were inexpensive...
Great food, flavor, service, & price. This is a real
gem in West LA. We have gone for the Buffet many
times. Plenty of food.
I have been going to Jaipur for many years. Its a great place to get tasty indian food in a relaxed setting. The owner is a very nice man, and will always ask how you are doing. I've always enjoyed their food, and their lunch buffets are an excellent value.
Jaipur was by far our favorite restaurant during the three years that we lived in LA ( till 2003). The food is wonderful and the service and personal attention outstanding. I am compelled to write this after reading the earlier negative review. The owner, Billy has always gone out of his way to take care of us and all our friends that have gone to Jaipur. So, I am personally stunned that the prev...
The worst service you can ever get in any restaurant. The 2nd time I had gone there, I had the painful experience when the owner comes with the bill to me and says 'next time don't waste food' . We had the buffet (already overpriced at $9.99) and to my best knowledge did not waste much. This guy is an ultimate beggar, not fit to run a restaurant. He doesn't know the basic courtesy, manners and th...
I am not a huge fan of Indian cuisine, until I dined here. I reluctantly went along with a friend for a quick lunch. The selections are great and the taste was surprisingly fresh and perfectly seasoned. I tried the Began Bharta and found it to be delicious. I will go back and be a bit more adventurous. If you have not gone, then you're really missing out!
