I always stop at Yangtze whenever I'm at the 3rd st. promenade. If you sit at the sushi bar, most rolls are half price. Every tastes great and the staff is very attentive.
I have been there with a Sushi-maven and in his opinion the fish was
exceptionally fresh. The inventive sushi creations were sublime--tender
taste, though a firm texture. Ginger and water was served by attentive service
as much as we liked alongside. A versed servant told us that "Yangatze"
is the name of a river in China. There was also a discount on our meal for
eating at the bar.
I usually order and pick up the food here. Delicious sushi and chicken satay. They are always quick and I have never had any problems. Prices are reasonable and service is good.
A few weeks ago my fiance & I were looking for a quick bite before a movie and decided to give this place a try -- we figured it couldn't be that bad if they got an "A" grade and we were really in the mood for sushi. This place is huge -- we walked past the front outdoor patio and then thru the main dining area before being led to another eating area and then the far-back sushi bar (we later lear...
I live four blocks from Yangtze and work less than 2 miles away. Yangtze used to be my favorite sushi spot and I ordered food from there at least 3 to 4 times a week, but I don't think I will ever eat there again. I ordered food online for lunch one day for myself and some coworkers. After an hour and a half when it did not arrive, I called and was told the food was on its way. After another 30 m...
My first time to CA and my husband's maiden return after 9 years. To sum it up...poor service, horrible food, over priced, below quality sushi. I love sushi and expected better from a coastal area. I also expected better prices than what we pay for it in Chicago. Boy, was I disappointed! My husband had the basil chicken. Is this dish REALLY supposed to be sweet? We've never had it on the s...
I signed up for Citysearch just so I could express my frustration with Yangtze. Despite living a block away, we have determined never to return. What bothers me most is not the horrible service itself, but rather how unapologetic everybody who works there is about the horrible service. "Only one guy back there," we were told after waiting a half hour for sushi rolls that were not in fact the roll...
The mixed variety of oriental menu in Yangtze Restaurant was great. The Thai pork BBQ was especially tasty. The ambiance was decent, definitely not romantic though and the prices were reasonable. However if you're looking for great customer service then THIS IS NOT THE RESTAURANT or PLACE FOR YOU. The server we had was unsociable and inattentive. She took the order wrong and did not even try to r...
Our dinner for three last week couldn't have been better. The potstickers, Chinese Chicken Salad, Mu Shu, and particularly the Blazing Noodles surpassed expectations. Waitstaff was helpful and prompt. A fabulous before or after movie spot with something for everyone.
the food here is good, but not great. if you absolutely need to have asian food on the promenade, then, go there. if you can drive to hollywood for thai, san gabriel for chinese... i would do that. the prices are very good though.
The food is ok, but I think its worth it to drive somewhere else. For the same price you can definitely find better food.
The bao appetizer was quite good, as was the Thai selection my friend had. However, my chicken was overcooked to the point of toughness, and the service was only passable. Maybe it was an off day, maybe I ordered the weak dish on the menu, but I don't think I'd give Yangtze another try.
it is really gross, bad service, unimaginative food- i would NOT recommend this restaurant
I found a huge fly in my rice noodles! They did offer to cook me a new platter free of charge, but I was wary. I decided to order dumplings instead. I used to come here all the time because of the wide selection of tasty foods. I would say that it's overpriced though, but they have little competition. I think the nearest Thai restaurant is on Wilshire and 6th, where you'd have to find metered par...
This place had a wonderful selection of Thai, Sushi and traditional chinese. We love the 3rd Street promenade location and the cafe seating. It was a perfect stop for lunch during our weekend shopping.
The menu at Yangtze is a little unorganized in that they try to catagorize it by region. The service was absolutely terrible- we were rushed through our meal and rarely checked up on.
There are many other places to eat on the 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica- DO NOT GO HERE!
