been going there since i was a little kid , and the food gets better and better.
There's not much to say about Tito's Tacos. It is what it is. Its fried tacos, enchillads, and burritos.
I usually get one of each. It hits the spot during those late night snack attacks.
Its not fancy, its not meant to be gourmet. Its a local standby thats been around forever. Its legendary. You go to get your titos fix (i know a guy who comes into town every couple of months from ne...
Great, cheap tacos, but the food is SO unhealthy that you can't have it often. Now, 2 am after a night of drinking is a GREAT time for it. Try it instead of Taco Bell
Not only is the jingle for the commercial really annoying, but the food is TERRIBLE at Tito's Tacos! I really have no idea why it is so popular, but you will definitely have to wait in line to be handed food that is really not very good at all! Both the chicken and the beef were pretty much without any flavor at all, and the hard tacos were essentially fried shut. The burrito was mostly beans, wi...
You cant go wrong with Tito's Tacos.. So good, simple!
There's always a long line when I go to Tito's Tacos and good luck with parking.
The food is THAT AMAZING. Cash only. Nothing more I can say. You really do have to try it if you haven't yet. Soooo good!
BEEN GOING THERE SINCE IT WAS ON THE CORNER BACK IN 1959..AMAZING ALWAYS GREAT HUGH LINES..THEN...ABOUT..12 YEARS AGO OR SO THE MANAGER WAS LET GO IN FAVOR OF A RELATIVE... OVERNIGHT IT BECAME JUST ANOTHER TACO STAND..AT BEST!! I CONTINUED TO GO..MAYBE 4 TIMES A YEAR HOPING FOR A RETURN TO THE OLD TACOS AND REALLY LONG LINES..NOPE....ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO I MET SOMEBODY WHOS FATHER USE TO WORK THER...
every time i come in from austin texas i have to go to tito's for my burrito fix when i lived in la i went there . and every time i visit relatives in castic we always make it a point to go i love the place
Kept seeing the lines and figured I'd have to go there and check it out for myself.
Finally I went in and ordered something.
It was mediocre at best.
Never went back.
Maybe they have some good stuff on the menu, but what I had didn't inspire me to return. What more can I say?
Kind of a one-trick pony, but what a GOOD TRICK! I can't go more than once a month because everything has that Tito's flavor, but when I'm in the mood for Tito's tacos, nothing else will do.
I love Tito's Tacos, you'll love Tito's too. Yes, it's the long loved Culver City local taco place, Tito's. Their salsa is famous as well and I also love their guacamole. Tito's is a place that doesn't change, other than more and more generations loving this place as much as I do!
This place does not change! I have been purchasing taco's for over 20 years and the flavor remains the same. If you want to take some with you, just order them without the cheese and lettuce and you can freeze them!
I'm new to Los Angeles and have been looking for a good taco place. I saw the commercial on TV and had to try it. I arrived to see long lines and thought this is a good place. When I got my food, the tacos were good, but I loved the amount of chips and salsa that they give you. I also liked the avocado sauce, I wouldn't call it guacamole, because it's not chunky but more of a sauce. I liked ...
If you enjoy taco bell, you'll enjoy tito's tacos. Authentic mexican it most certainly is not. I'd actually much rather eat at taco bell beacuse it's cheaper. Waiting in those lines is a complete waste of time. Overall a sad, flavorless sham of mexican food.
This place is pure vintaged, Its been around in inglewood since like the 30's or something, I actually met an older ladie who use to come there when she was in junior high school. Awesome
I've lived in SoCal my whole life but had never been to Tito's. When friends took me there awhile back I was expecting something really good. But alas, this place is nothing but pure hype... I don't get it.
I figure sometimes a place becomes popular just because it has been around for a long time, or maybe the prices are cheap. You might say Taco Bell and McDonalds fall into that category. B...
You know, I have been going to Tito's for 30 plus years. I love it there! But I can almost guarantee that it's mostly the true westside locals who say that they "love it there"! My husband and I always run into people that we haven't seen in years when we go.
I really like the (real tortilla) tacos and burritos, but it's the salsa that I keep going back for. It's not spicy - but it is REALL...
Like many who grew up in this area, I have a fondness for Tito's since my parents brought me here all the time. I hadn't been back for about 15 years, and was surprised to find that my memories are inaccurate. This food in not authentic at all, and hardly better than Taco Bell. But it was worth going there for the nostalgia!
Please. This place is why cardiologists stay in business. You might as well eat a cup of salt and wash it down with a gallon of lard. I know there's a huge comfort food
following for this place. But, frankly, it's terrible and totally unhealthy for you to eat there. I grew up on Macdonalds burgers and fries. I haven't had one in five years. And, honestly, I don't miss it.
the last review wrote they are good to heat up the next day! I always bring my leftovers for lunch in class the next day. The prices are great and the food is very authentic. Muy Bien!
OMG their fish tacos are the best in town! They pile on the guacamole and its so flavorful! If you're in the area, this is a must!
you must go to this place, their guacamole is insane. there isn't much of a menu selection, but all of it is so good. wednesday is tito's taco night with some friends
All I have to say is that cheddar cheese is NOT mexican!!! I hate when "Mexican" restaurants use cheddar cheese. No where in Mexico do they use cheddar cheese! King Taco is way better. Go there instead.
I love this spot. Its great food, for cheap. You know its good when you cant find parking and see longggg lines. The simple menu is key because they focus on perfecting their stuff.
MMmmmm!!
If you are ever in the Culver City area this is the place to eat. Every time I am down that way I have to have it. The taocs and burritos are very good. The burritos are the next day when you heat up to eat. I went there two time's in one day. I grew up eating Tito's Tacos.
I would agree that this probably isn't very authentic. But, take it for what it is: Fast, cheap and plentiful.
I've been eating here since I can remember. My personal favorites are the guacamole, cheese enchilada and rice. Be wary, it is greasy, but in the best way possible.
Watch out for long lines at lunch and dinner times.
Yum! I've been going to Tito's Tacos forever and the food is consistant. Thank you for keeping the same flavor and what I've remembered over the years.
I went there about a year ago after hearing all the hype, man, I've had better Tacos from Ralphs. The line is long (for some reason), the service isn't great and the food is incredibly bland. The enchiladas tasted like they were cold and microwaved! They definitely are NOT authentic Mex food (I grew up in Van Nuys), but regardless it's BLAND. If the line was short and I wanted cheap edible f...
I've never understood how this place gets such great reviews from people. Better than Taco Bell or Del Taco tacos but that is where it ends (dollar for dollar I'll take Del Taco). Most catering trucks (rhymes with flow but is considered inappropriate) this place out of the water. Just another example of LA "institutions" and how 9 of 10 are lame...
Actually, if you're bringin' some midwesterne...
Having moved to the westside a few years back I decided to try this place even though I had lived all of my life on the eastside and knowing what great Mexican food was. I was truly dissapointed and found myself comparing this place to the likes of Del Taco and Taco Bell which does not say a lot. Service was even worse having to stand in a long line for for highly condemented Americanized Mexica...
I heard about this place for a while but come on people this is not real mexican food lol . Its good but not all that good. I've had better tacos off random lunch trucks in Los angeles however it is very tasty and I will go there again and there prices are decent too. I give it a B flat as a grade. Thanks
I've seen the commercials, read the reviews and heard from my friends about how good Tito's is. So, I accompanied a friend to Tito's one night to check the place out. The enchiladas were pretty good, and individually wrapped but I cannot get over the fact that the guacamole was horrible! It was given in a large container, but to counteract the volume the guacamole was watery. Who serves watery gu...
I will forever refer to Titos as the BEST Mexican food there is..EVER! I have been coming here since I was little because most of my extended family lives in Culver City and this is the place to go when you have a hungry herd on your hands. The lines are always super long but always worth the wait- their shreeded beef tacos are incredible as are their bean burritos- my personal favortie! I love ...
This place is very popular and I have never understood why. I have had the displeasure of eating their food about 8 times because it is so popular that friends from out of town sometimes ask me to take them. One time we ordered beans and found a big [apparently that word is filtered] floating at the top. At the top! How does the person serving the food let that pass? I went back and complained an...
I have been going to Tito's tacos since I was a little girl and I am not 32 years old. I live in Southern Oregon and would travel every summer and some holidays down to Los Angeles to visit my Grandparents and the high light of our trip was not Disneyland( although very fun :)) it was going as a family to Tito's Tacos. There have been times where my parents would go down to LA without us and woul...
What is the big deal about this place? The tacos are just ok. They are nothing out of this world. I've had better tacos at Gilbert's El Indio. The lines at Tito's are ridiculous for what you're getting.
Good tacos, burritos, enchiladas, chips and salsa. The only thing I didn't like is when they went from Coke to Pepsi. A great place to eat Tito's is at the park down the street on washington east of sepulveda.
The food is good overall ,but I don't understand why there are lines all day and night. This is the place to go for late night meals when all the other places are closed. I would rate it slightly above average.
If you like mexican food this place has some of the best tacos and for a good price too.the sercives is good fast so you dont have to wait all night for your food
If you are just looking for a small Mexican joint that has decent tacos then this is the place. There is always a line and seating is hard to find but that's with any small place you go. The tacos are good and the food is cheap.
I have been going to Tito's for as long as I can remember and the food is awesome! I don't think it's the greatest mexican food out there but it's good and at a great price. Others might think Taco Bell is better and better for u sure if u liked canned meat. I'm mexican and Taco Bell puts Mexican food to shame. Tito's is good food and great service.
...why with all the top-notch tacos in this town, Tito's is so popular. They make these really simple, hard shell tacos with ground beef that just aren't that good. they might be good to people who haven't had a real taco, but in LA that is inexcusable.
Spend your money at one of the multitudes of great taco joints on the west side. Tito's is definitely not one of them.
supposedly the most famous taco place in LA, titos is a pretty good place to go if you like mexican. They have very few options however, no chicken only beef, which sucks if you are a vegetarian. However, the tacos and burritos (veggie also) are good.
This is definitely a neighborhood thing...people go there cause there isn't any other decent taco joint nearby. Tacos are better at King Taco, etc. If you want crunchy tacos go to Taco Bell...probably a bit more healthier too lol.
The sauce is what does it for me. The tacos are crunchy, juicy and delicious. For a small price, you'll get some of the freshest, best-tasting tacos you've ever had. You won't leave disappointed. They only take cash.
if you haven't been here, go. just buy 4 tacos and dump the ridiculously amazing salsa they give you for your chips ALL over the tacos, and you'll indulge in the best taste sensation you've ever had for 6 dollars. they're only 1.80 with cheese. lines long but move quick.
My girlfriend had been talking about this place for months before I finally stopped by on the way home. There was a huge line, but it went really quick. But once I got home and started eating, I realized why the line moved so fast. The food was pretty pathetic (we had tacos, tamales, etc.) and it did have any good seasoning. I think the catchy jingle has people convinced that the food is good, bu...
I tried Tito's Taco for the first time and I have to say that I am very disappointed. I've been wanting to try this place for the longest time since it got tons of good reviews online.
Their famous hard shell taco is just a better version of Taco Bell's taco. It consist of a little shredded beef, lettuce and cheese. To me, rather than Mexican food, it taste a lot more like American fast f...
Never have I been to such an over hyped place that at least didn't live up to the reputation even a little bit. I'm still confused as to why this place had a large line in front of it when I first got there. There's a couple Mexican places around the corner that have to better than this place. I tried both the tacos and the burritos, both plain and without much flavor. I ordered the meat burrito,...
I love me some spicy tacos!!! but these just don't do it for me. what's all the hype???
I waited in line a an overrated tortilla filled with medicore meat. I guess people like it. They get one star because the service is weak & not friendly, you're treated like a number. You get what you pay for.
I made the trip down to tito's to be disapointed. Taco's were greasy and not nearly as good as my beloved KING TACO!!! sorry. I got a huge piece of fat in my taco too. no thanks. i wishing I had a margarita too choke it down...
we love this place! you get in, chow down, and on with life. it's quick with a simple menu. remember, it's a cash bar unless you're ordering for multiple on line. ...love it!
Small menu...straight to the goods....Burritos, Tacos, Enchiladas, Big a s s chips! Guac & Salsa...SHORT & SWEET! Im glad some people dont like it...smaller lines for us who LOVE IT! Those that know .......go..... Those that dont.....go back to where you came from. Crowding up the 405 & Tito's! hahaha. That's on the REAL!
My family and I have been going to Tito's for years. They have a simple menu, but it hits the spot.
The prices are so reasonable and I love the chips and salsa! This is my highlight to my trips to the Westside! It's such an amazing value! I even had it for my Bridal shower and people who had never had it previously were raving about it!
This place has lines all the time, but I would not recommend it to anyone. They have a small menu and focus mainly on tacos, but they don't have regular side items like sour cream. I would not go back because I think they are overrated. If you like shredded beef, then maybe you will think its good. But don't expect any sauces or extra except for maybe cheese.
Don't expect traditional or authentic Mexican food here. But the attraction is in its unique and tasty hard-shell tacos and basic burritos. The chips and salsa go down like water, let me tell you. You have to try it once and see for yourself what everyone is talking about (and waiting in line for).
Ok, the tacos were good, but super greasy. I still don't get what the big fuss is about?!? I guess it's an "LA" thing...gotta at least try it once right? But yea, the lines were 45 minutes long, so bring your ipod.
I can understand how there are a few places in LA that will always have long lines (such as that certain hot dog stand on La Brea and Melrose) but this place doesn't deserve them, in my opinion. My tacos were greasy and were on par with places I've tried in the high desert outside of LA. Nothing particularly special or worth waiting 40 minutes in line for. Every once in a while you can spot a cel...
LA pales in comparison to almost every city across the nation when we're talking about history. While LA may not have rich in culture, we do have Tito's Tacos. Tito's Tacos is more of a taco stand than a restaurant, this old school joint is packed during all business hours. Don't plan on expecting a hostess or velvet rope. Titos provides a more casual and authentic in and out approach. All p...
i love this place . the burrito's rock. the taco's are kickin and the salsa is addictive. dig it . best taco shack . it always has a line no matter what time you get there. soda's have crushed ice, gotta love it .
It may seem like it's too crowded, but it's worth the wait... the food is great & cheap! The issues are lack of parking & tables. Oh and the cash only thing is irritating when you are popping in after work.
I don't know what it is about these tacos, but there's nothing like them. I'm not crazy about the other menu options, but must have a taco here regularly!
Tito's is an institution of the area with lines at all hours. That doesn't mean that the food is spectacular. Its either hot and greasy, or cold and greasy. The guacamole is not guacamole, but a mix of avacado and sour cream. It's fine to fill your belly but nothing to shout about from the rooftops.
You should know what to expect before you try Tito's. Noelio's review (below) hits it right on the head - great hard tacos. Not authentic, but unique and worth waiting in line for. My only complaint is that the parking is impossible. The best thing to do is drop someone off in front and then wait for the call to drive back around to pick them up. Oh, and here's something helpful to know...the gua...
I have been going to Tito's since I was born! The tacos, and B&C burritos are seriously my favorite in all of LA. Oh and the meat, bean, cheese and rice burrito is awesome it's just HUGE! The tamales, etc. are okay not all that but the tacos make up for it! And the salsa is fantastic, guac is good but not chunky at all. If you like spicy make sure you ask for the jalepeno salsa, OMG SO GOOD! The ...
Titos is the best!!! After reading the last review I felt I had to defend it. First of all this is not healthy style baja fresh type food nor is it authentic- if you want good "al carbon" tacos go to Mexico. If you want some good greasy late night food go to Titos! (Just don't do it every night cause you will pack on some serious pounds)The chips and salsa are the bomb and the burritos and tamale...
Absolutely the worst taco ever. You couldn't do any worse at home. That they are still in business is really a mind blower. People that think these tacos are so good must not venture far from home. Taco Bell make a better product.
Do eat here. Save yur money and gas and just go to Taco Bell you'll be doing yourself a favor.
They should tear the place downand make room for more parking at J...
Great Tacos, love to take friends there. Always have fun going there and taking new people from out of town. They also have a great burritos too.
I grew up in Culver City and hated this place. The lines, the ambiance and the parking are all awful. The first five or so times I went (which took about ten years to accomplish) seemed equally bad to me. My entire life I heard how people loved it and I just didn't get it. Then one day (I guess my sixth try) the food tasted good. I started going occasionally and now I love the place! I too ...
When I moved to L.A. about a year ago, the first thing my friend said was, "You HAVE to go to Tito's Tacos!!!" And go I did and proceeded to have the most amazing tacos that I've ever had! There have been so many restaurants that have been hyped up and fall way below expectations but Tito's Tacos goes above and beyond any rave reviews it has received. So I'll pass on the words my friend said t...
Locals tell you this is THE place to have a taco - seem to rave about it. They're cheap, they're hot, and you had to wait on a long line to have one. However, as a food item, they're truly barely passable, a small notch higher than Taco Bell, but greasier. My theory is that local palette tastes for these tacos are formed in early childhood, and through time add something to the misty sentiment...
There's always a line, no matter what time you go, but it moves quickly and the wait is worth it. Get a couple. You'll be happy.
Greasy tacos made out of mystery meat, lard fried chips and some awesome hot runny salsa made of tomatoes and nothing else. Just food at its best and dirt cheap. No wonder there is a line at 1:00 AM. If you have to worry about cholesterol or your weight, try somewhere else. I keep on going back.
Veggie options??? You vegetarians are a real PAIN!!!! GET LOST! And service?????? This place is a TACO STAND!!!! I swear some of you LA jerks think you deserve to be waited on hand and foot no matter where you go. GO TO A 4-STAR PLACE if you want your butt kissed! These people can barely speak english and what, you want your table decrumbed? Tito's is just addictive, that is all I can say...
This place unlike other mexican food joints does not offer soft tacos. They only a few items on the menu. But the few items they do offer are amazing.
I have had their hard shell tacos and tostadas both blew anything I had thought was good right out of the water.
The only problems with Tito's is that they do not have indoor seating, they only take cash, and it is always crowded (no matter wha...
There is a line waiting at all times of the day under the freeway to get a taste of Titos Tacos.
The menu is limited, but the only thing really worth trying there is the Taco (filled with Ground Beef, Cheese is an extra 0.40 cents). I wasn't too impressed with either the yellow stale Chips, lackluster Salsa or watery Guacamole. Disappoining was when, despite witnessing a strict enforcement of s...
Only one step above Taco Bell. Very disapointing considering the TV ads and what I have heard perople say about them. I feel that those people who enjoy Tito's haven't a clue as to what real Mexican food is suppose to taste like. I feel sorry for them.
Tito's is awesome. You can get tasty tacos or burritos for a reasonable price. The food is good, the service is fast. All of the employees have been there forever! Don't let the long lines fool you -- they move quickly.
After hearing so much about Tito's and riding by it many times, I finally went for lunch. The line went surprisingly fast, and the service was efficient. I would say the food was slightly above average, but I have had much better cheap mexican food in L.A. I was a little disappointed overall....
I recently relocated to LA and was told this was an "LA Landmark"...so I decided to check it out. I was a little skeptical after seeing the dumpy building and take-out style order line, but I left the establishment more than impressed. Parking was a bit of an issue, but well worth the wait. The menu was very affordable, and the ingredients were fresh. I eat a lot of mexican food and this is m...
We Come to Culver City from Lake Havasu City which is 300 miles we always get the shredded beef burritos to take home. They travel very well and eat them when we get home.
You can't go wrong picking up food from Tito's Tacos!!! I always get a taco with cheese and an enchilada... delicious! PLUS you get free chips and salsa! yum yum! It's definitely worth the lines. Only downside is finding parking.
My family & I are natives to the Culver City/Los Angeles area and Tito's is a MUST HAVE!! I was relocated to the Pacific NW about 6 years ago but with every visit home to see family has to include trips to Tito's as well. My favorite is the Bean & Cheese burrito and 2 tacos plus each family member gets their own large salsa. When packing for So Cal I include empty mason jars to bring salsa home i...
Although the food may be tasty, the customer service SUCKS. I WAS a loyal customer for 20 years, even turned other people on to Tito's. One day I dropped a BOX of food in the parking lot, because the box was not packed properly and I had another BOX and a bag. That was the second day, in a row, that I had gone there that week. The "manager" on the pedestal controlling the money, told me I could ...
Make sure you allow plenty of time to get food here- it's always packed and people order loads of food! The tacos are quite good and really inexpensive. I recommend adding cheese too.
I'm a vegetarian and I've gone to Tito's a few times and have eaten the cheese enchiladas....they were mediocre at best. One day I really wanted tacos so I decided as a quick fix I'd go to Tito's, get 3 tacos without meat, come home, add my own morningstar meat and it sounded like an awesome plan. I waited in line for about 15 minutes, got up to the window and they wouldn't give me tacos with n...
I can't remember a time when I haven't gone to Titos. My whole family loves going there w/the exception of my little sister and that's only because she doesn't like crowds. My favorite item to get there is a bean and cheese burrito. I love the cheese they use. It's soooo good. I wish I could buy it in bulk. I always get a large side of salsa and a large side of guacamole to bring home with me. I ...
I have been eating at Tito's for almost 40 years. After living all over the world, it is still my favorite comfort food to come home to. Upon arriving at LAX in July (after living in Japan for 2 years), the only request from my two 10 year olds was to take a cab to Tito's before our conecting flight-that is loyalty! The tacos and burrito's are wonderful and the salsa and fresh chips are to di...
Locals like myself have been doing take out here for years! You have to try this place at least once if you can find the parking to do so. I always have a Bean, Cheese, & Rice
Burrito and once in awhile I'll have a cheese taco. The salsa is to die for and the crispy homemade chips...YUMMY
This is a little slice of Mexican Heaven on the Westside!
This place seriously makes the BEST tacos. EVER! They use real shredded meat in their tacos, none of that processed stuff. It's so good that you can't just order ONE taco! I highly recommend it!
I was introduced to this place my last year of college, and that same week my roommate and I went 4 times. We had never had such good tasting tacos! We gone back many times since and even though we are always faced with the same problem (no parking until you are really lucky) we are still willing to wait in line for 30 minutes for one taco. The meat is really tender, and you always get free ch...
After 4 years of hearing hype, I finally went here with my boyfriend. Tacos were pretty good, but not great. The meat and bean burrito was delicious -- much better than the tacos. Definitely a good value, but there's better cheap Mexican food in LA.
Tito's has been around for years and there's good reason - you'll always find a line there - these tacos are great. Very authentic, maybe a little greasy, but absolutely delicious. If you've never been, you're in for a treat.
Tito's tacos are an absolute staple in my diet. Ever since I was introduced to it a few years ago, I've never been able to stay away for long and I've turned quite a few friends onto it too. The ingredients are always fresh and the prices cheap. If you can handle the crowds, it's definitely worth your time.
PROS: Food, Price
CONS: Parking, Crowds
Tito's is simply fantastic and the fact that they have no less than 100 people in line at all hours of the day for over 50 years speaks for itself. The prices are comparable, if not better, than any other comparable joint and the food is unquestionably better. The tacos are the go-to dish, with just the right mix of greasiness and crispiness, while the burritos are packed with flavor. If I could ...
Tito's Tacos was recommended to me by some friends. When I walked up to the taco facility, I thought I'd be in for a real treat. I ordered a beef burrito, a chicken tamale, a taco w/ cheese, and an order of refried beans.
Disappointment #1 - Beef Burrito: The meat was tender, but the sauce they used was bland.
Disappointment #2 - Chicken Tamale: The tamale was bland and dry. I used some sal...
Since I've lived here I've heard about Titos. I would drive by it all the time, for over a year, and finally one day I stopped and brought home tacos for my boyfriend and I. *HE* loved them!!!! *I* thought "my Irish grandmother makes better tacos than this!!". Go figure. I think they are just too american. Alot like the tacos you get in the midwest, and way more like fast food than anything remo...
Wow! Tito's s the best ever. Everybody has to go there, even though the lines might be long it is well worth the wait in the long run. It's so good!!!
Most tacos in L.A. are authentic Mexican-style tacos. That means they come in miniscule soft tortilla shells, heavy on the cilantro and onions, and with no cheese. That's great, if you like "authentic" tacos. But if you like hard-shelled tacos with cheese--perhaps something a little more Americanized--then Tito's may be the place for you. They serve up a cheap, tasty taco. The meat is kind o...
Tito's tacos is the best deal around. You can leave there with a great meal for under five dollars. The upside is the food is fantastic. I personally like their tostodas and their tacos. Their salsa is also incredible. The only downside is that you might have a small wait due to the fact they are always busy busy busy.
Tito's isn't about gourmet or authentic Mexican food. it's about satisfying a primal need for the drippy, salty, greasy, crunchy low-brow pleasure of two shredded beef crispy tacos with cheese and a root beer with crushed ice among the masses. Tito's is orange grease dripping off your fingers into a cardboard tray, weak but fresh salsa scooped onto that iceberg lettuce peeking out of said tacos. ...
I'm not sure why people feel so compelled to frequent Tito's. There menu is SMALL. Their specialty, deep fried beef tacos, resemble Taco Bell/Del Taco fair more than any traditional cuisine. Forget about veggie options. There are none. This is not the place I would take anyone craving real mexican food - at best it's serviceble, Americanized, Atkins-ized food.
I LOVE TITO'S TACOS, WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE HOW GOOD THERE FOOD IS.
I've always driven by this local restaurant and thought nothing of it. I finally stopped in, at the request of my friend, and had a fantastic and filling meal for around $5. yes, $5.
The service was fast even though the line was long. The food was hot and good quality.
I will go back again and again.
Obviously, one doesn't go to a taco shack expecting ambiance, so Tito's needs to be evaluated on its food. Overall, Tito's was a mixed experience, although their food can be described as average at best.
The crunchy, thick-shelled tacos are the best item, and the shredded beef filling was less greasy than you might expect. Our meat was accompanied solely by some lettuce and cheese, so I thi...
This isn't authentic Mexican food, the tacos are okay and the salsa is mediocre as well. Not spicy at all...I don't think I would wait that long for tacos here, not worth it.
This is a place where movies execs, families, student and television stars come to. There food is reasonably priced and their chips and salsa are to die for. I met my good friend in college at CSUN because we discussed tito's in culver city. There is a LOT people who come there, so expect to get food in a half an hour. The only wish from my sisters friend from tennessee was to bring back tito's. ...
The best fast food taco establishment ever. You don't have to worry about dealing with waiters or leaving tips. You just walk up and order your meal. Great tacos, burritos, and other mexican foods. Very fast, affordable, and accessible for those people on the go.
Excelent food for the price I have been eating there for 20 years anytime we are passing through. The food stays the same MMMMMM GOOOOD.
Great cheap tacos, usually a long line, and no parking. Tostada is good, too.
Regrettably - I have to disagree with the other reviewers. All the tacos were hard shell, which are a lot harder to eat than soft tacos. And the tamale was quite bland. After I left, I wasn't hungry anymore - but for the wrong reasons. I think KingTaco or Senor Fish are better picks.
(pricewise, Titos was affordable and they certainly seemed to do a brisk business - so they must be doing som...
Ok, for first timers...Tito's is NOT Mexican food. From TJ to Cancun, you will never find Tito's type food anywhere in Mexico. BUT, this place is a good institution. Like Pink's. The food is good as long as you're only expecting to eat. Don't come here if you think much about ambiance or quality or service. Come if you're hungry and only have $5. The tacos and burritos are good, but don't expect ...
I began eating at Tito's when I was in high school and it opened on Sepulveda. I have loved it since. I have moved to No Calif, New Mexico and now Oregon and visit Tito's every time I go to LA. I have even had burrito's shipped to me and they are still great.
This place is way overated, tacos are dripping with grease (I've had better at Jack-in-the-box), burritos are tasteless, the chips are way too thick and hard, salsa is bland, the only thing that's good is the pepsi. And the wait....and wait...and wait....
Walk up taco restaurant with excellent and inexpensive food. I just went for the first time but am told it's been in Culver City for decades. (It's almost directly under the 405). Supposedly always a line but a great place to stop and get food.
I have heard about Titos Tacos for the 2 years that I have lived out here. I finally went and boy was I disappointed. The prices were awful for the amount of food you got. The tacos when I got them home were so greasy that the shells were soggy and were unedible. The burritos were filled with beans and hardly any meat. I guess if your looking for an old greasy taco this is the place. It sur...
This place has been around for probably 20 years so they must do something right and they do. The tacos are always excellent and the burritos are large, but not the best. The salsa is mild so ask for the green salsa i you need real spice. Ordering is easy just remember what who you gave your order to and you'll get your food.
I came hungry, and even with that handicap I was less than satified.
Lady took my order and they really didn't have any type of numbering system that I could follow so I had to stand up and check my order every 30 secs.
The chips were too thick and felt like I was eating a piece of oil soaked leather.
The only thing I could say was the food was kept at the right temperature.
Salsa ...
Great food great price, nuf said. I don't understand all these people who are trying to compare tito's to authenic mexican food... they are not even trying, tito's just has really tasty food. I would say everyone who comes with an open mind leaves completely satisfied.
Tito's Tacos is legit people, i've been going there with my family for a good 3 years and i could eat it 5 times a week. You need to try their tacos, they are the best I've ever had. For a family of four we order 25+ tacos, my favorite, but everything else is superb also. On top of that their salsa could be packages and sold a Vons and they would make a fortune. We get 3 large containers and ther...
I grew up in the L.A. area, Yes Titos is fast food but it is the BEST. I moved to ATL in 1987 and have not found any good food since. I have to come back to Tito's as often as possible.!! The burritos are the biggest!! Nowdays Tacos are filled with tastelass gound beef, but not at TITO's.
Parking is awful and the lines are long but the food is worth the wait!! The longevity of the ICON should be...
I live within walking distance of Tito's Tacos, but rarely go there. The food is mediocre, totally bland, but not terrible. (I rate it slightly below Taco Bell.) The lines are always long.
You can find much better Mexican food in L.A. Try walking one block west to Sawtelle, cross the street, and visit Don Felix's market. They have a little restaurant attached with very tasty food. Or hea...
Let's keep it real here, Tito's Taco's in Culver City has the best Burritos in America. Fresh steer beef, red sauce, cheese, tortilla. Anytime I meet a person from Culver City, California, I just say one word, Tito's, and their eyes light up. I'm not too happy with the number four ranking but hey we all know who the best is. Always a line outside, always fresh, hot food and taste is second to...
This place has great food, though admittedly not like mom's home cooking it's still delish! Anyone can appreciate their no frills casual atmosphere, just be prepared to wait in line since it is always packed. I recommend people take their food to go since it is not always easy to find a table to sit.
yup that's right, and i'm not a big girl either, that is called training folks, years of determination, because these tacos with cheese are the perfect tacos dorado. But don't forget the salsa, which they give in huge containers so you can spoon it into your tacos take a bite and let it drip down your chin, i mean you can drink this stuff...not spicy, but it wets the taco just right. chips are d...
The original fast food taco, still the best.
While Tito's Taco's offer a decent value and yummy tacos, okay salsa, and soupy guacamole-like sauce, I don't think it should rate as the number one in Mexican Food Category. There are far better places for Mexican food in the Los Angeles area. Tito's is for "Good Mexican Food Fast"!
I can't understand the crowds always lining up outside Tito's Tacos. The tacos are greasy, small and not that good. What's up? Are these people hired to stand outside?
I remember going there as a kid and how big the burritos looked then, today they are big to my kids.
Great place to take to go.
I live in Utah, but I am from Cali....everytime we go there we have to stock up on some Tito's to bring home! Their salsa is the best I have EVER tasted. If you don't agree...your not human!
I have been coming to tito's tacos since i could remember and the food is the best. It seems overhyped at first, but the more you eat their food the more you crave for it the next time. Tito's tacos is a culver city landmark. I love their tacos and salsa especially.
The salsa here is great. So fresh... I always buy an extra container and a bag of chips to take home. Ask for the green salsa (pickled jalapenos and carrots), it's also free, but not on the menu.
Contrary to the name of the restaurant, the beef burritos at Tito's are actually the best item on the menu.
I live about a 15min walk from here, and have to get my fix every week. Yum!
The first place I go to eat whenever I come to L.A.
What's not to like? Sitting outside, eating great tacos, watching the scene. Thank God for this place.
An institution in Culver city; for the poor, in taste, wallet, and self-esteem. The beef burrito has an odd taste (unidentified), chips are tasteless, and the salsa is watered down to match the chips. Why would anyone pass a Baja Fresh to come here? I gave it a 2, because it is better than Johnnie's Pastrami around the corner (see review)
The food is great. But the only thing that sucks is the location, because there is never any parking or any seating.
Tito's burritos don't attempt to do anything but combine simple ingredients for an unbelievable flavor. Nothing tops the Regular Meat, Bean & Cheese burrito... for incredibly tender meat, fantastic taste, and a perfect price.
The only thing latin about this place is the people behind the counter serving, what in my opinion is, the absolute worst food. Why people stand in line is beyond my comprehension, especially when there is another Mexican fast food 100 feet away.
The tacos are good but not as "special" as some would like you to believe. They remind me the Jack in the Box tacos but a little better and 2X the price. The really stupid thing is that the same person who takes your order also makes your food, causing the long line which makes the place look more crowed than it really is.
This place is an institution...my friends have been coming here for more than 35 years! So what if you have to stand out in the street..Tito's burritos are the best in Los Angeles!
The lines can get VERY long and the parking lot can be a nightmare. There's nothing particularly great about this place, either. The food is not authentic and the salsa is not spicy at all.
Nonetheless, if you're considering Taco Bell or Del Taco, come here instead. The portions are larger and taste much better.
I've been going here since I was a little kid and I agree with my parents ... i...
The beef tastes like it came out of a Hormel can (which it probably did), and the hard shells remind me of my junior high school cafeteria (which is nearby). It must be on the one major post softball league route home. Quick! Get me to La Salsa!
but a fast food place with the best Mexican fast food in the Los Angeles area. Not dirt cheap, but inexpensive for what you get. Prices have gone up recently about 15-20%. This gringo LOVES their green salsa...
Prices have gone up some 20% or so in the last year, so no longer a super bargain. Still, it's the best Mexican fast food in the greater Los Angeles area.
Keep in mind, the name of the place is "Titos TACOS" meaning the tacos are the only great item on the menu. They are fantastic, but don't bother wasting your money on any other entre.
The bland and tasteless menu offers up some of the worst Mexican food in Southern Cal. To say this place is overrated is the biggest understatement in the world. The service is mean and unhelpful and the ambience is like eating out of a dumpster. Avoid at all costs!
These tacos are to cry for. This place has some pathetic tacos, the shells are on par with Taco *ell and the ground beef filling isn't much better. The Meat Burrito is OK, nice chunks of beef and a decent sauce. I can never get over why this place draws such a crowd. It must be that there are so many people arriving to LA, who've never tasted real Mexican food and think that Titos is genuine. I g...
this place is way over-rated. tastless, bland, insipid - bottom line, the food sucks. overpraised in an attempt to find something alternative and cool by losers all over LA. Too harsh? I would pay not to eat here - or pay double to eat at taco bell or baja fresh instead. lame.
I have been a customer of Tito's Tacos since way back when. The value for your money is exceptional, as is the food itself.
The salsa comes out of a Blender! Too bad greed rules over real Mexican food. This is a Slop Joint! The food on street carts in Ensenada is so much better than here. Why when they have a full blowen kitchen do they serve slop! we're to blame for supporting MickyD's and Jack in the crack and Tito's.
Thought there were great tacos in Texas, but this place is awesome. Great food at great price.
titos tacos is at best a very medicore place to eat.this is apparent as far as service , food quality, re:taste, healthy ingredients etc..the cheapest made salsa I have ever tasted.
I started eating at TITO'S in 1966, and the management figured out that CONSISTENCY, value quality are never to be compromised. This place has greatest customer loyality for a Mexican resturant I have ever seen. This is one of those places that you go for not only the food but also the EXPERIENCE. TITO'S rules as the very best Fast Food resturant in all of L.A. I still go out of my way whenever I...
Is it "good"? Not for your waistline. Is it "quality"? Are you kidding? Authentic Mexican? Not in your lifetime! Call it California-Suburban-Mexican-American, and then stand in line and get KILLER, ADDICTIVE tacos, tamales, and enchiladas. I try to go to Tito's every week. I've been going there since high school (over 25 years). It STILL hits the spot. Pig out for under $6, fill up reasonably fo...
There is no better Mexican food in L.A. than Tito's Tacos. I am born and raised in L.A. and their food which consists of home-made burritos, tacos, enchilidas, tamales all cost below $5.00 each. The taste is delicious and nothing is too spicy for anyone to eat! What the Super Bowl without Tito's?!!
The Best Tacos, Chips and Salsa in California you can't stop eating the chips and salsa the enchilads are great too but i recommend the tacos and salsa alone.
THE BEST HARD SHELL MEXICAN TACOS IN TOWN. PERIOD. I WOULD LIKE TO RECOMMEND IT TO ANYBODY VISTING L.A.
My family has been going to Tito's since both of my parents were in high school. A family tradition for years, even if the food isn't the highest quality, you can't beat the prices. I think the taco with cheese is the same price it was when I was a kid. Ordering food is a pain, especially inside, they could use a visit from an effeciency expert.
I haven't had anything bad here ever. Certainly not gourment, but very good food cheap. Long lines but worth the wait.
The food is way better than any other mexican food i tasted. and the prices are excellent
good cheap food, very busy at all times, hard to park though but the service is great...cant wait to go there again
I've never had a better burrito. I lived in the area for about four years, moved away and every time I come back I gotta get my Tito's burrito! I end up leaving with about 10 burritos for everybody else at home!
I'm a fan of tito's. The tacos have great crunch, and the meat burrito's w/ cheese have the best taste north of El Burrito Jr. in torrance. As for the line, people need to learn to move over after they've ordered. I have definately learned to order, AND MOVE, and never spend more than five minutes in line. As for the wait, I think its part of the deal, and if people are to lazy to stand in line ...
Makes all other burritos worse than mine, and you have to go some to do that.
This is real Mexican food. The kind that is greasy and makes you fat, not that "fresh" crap for wussies. That stuff gives L.A. a bad name. Viva Titos.
The burritos are to die for. The salsa is the best on their hot chips (get extra of both). The real tricky part about tito's is to remember what the person that takes your order looks like, because you won't see them again until your order is ready
It's the best buy in LA Prices are the lowest and food fills the hole wonderfully
tito's tito's tito's what else can u say about the best mex food place in all of southern cally. the taco's are so yummy and rest of the meun is to die for. please for a few bucks u can fill your belly full of yummy tasty food. now where else in cally can u do that?
I drive from woodland hills to get these tacos for dinner! The lines may be long, but they move very quickly! The meat and bean burritos are yummy too. I Love this place.
The burrito is the best I've ever had--nothing else needs to be said
Tito's may be known for their Tacos, but true Tito's Tacos fans know that the Combination Burrito is the best thing on the menu. Customers love the free fresh tortilla chips they provide with every meal. The experience is in trying to get to the counter to order to one of the food clerks, but that is part of the fun of it and true fans wouldn't change it for the world.
This is an in and out stand taco stand. The seating is limited due to the fact that so many people are aware of the excellent food.
I drive 70 minutes to satisfy my cravings for their all meat burritos. Not much of a meat eater, I started with their cheese enchiladas. Now I just order one of each! Yum Yum
Tito's Tacos is worth going to just for the fresh crispy tortilla chips and unique watery gaucamole. Really, the gaucamole is thin and watery but so delicious. The chips are thick, crisp, and flavorful. And the shredded beef hardshell tacos served on coffee filters taste like no other taco I have ever had. When it comes to taco stands, Tito's is the best. No question. Caution: the tacos at...
The line was way too long, we even went inside to avoid the outside line. And, on top of that, it took at least another 20 minutes to get our order, which would be okay for a restaurant, but at a fast food place?
The tacos are not as good as many people say they are. At least, not worth the crowds and long lines. The only upside is that it is inexpensive.
I'd skip it for another Mexic...
I grew up in Los Angeles and without a doubt Titos was always the place to go for Mexican Food fast. I still make it a point to get there whenever I go home for a visit and the place has never failed me yet in all the years they've been in business.
I drove half-way across town in search of some great mexican food. I didn't find it here. The food is bland and the menu small. As for the famous tacos, the tacos at Jack in the Box are better than these! The best tacos place in LA is Sky's tacos on Pico and Hauser.
Oh how I have tried...on several occasions to enjoy this place but alas I have been spoiled and will never be able to enjoy this place.
Theese are mass produced mystery Meat Tacos. just No Good can come of them.
The only thing edible is the the Fresh RED GRINGO salsa that they serve with the greasy chips.
Tito's knows how to spice a dish - hot but tasty! Their fillings are savory and there's none of that finely ground "mystery meat". The real triumph though are the quality of their burrito wraps and taco shells. They hold the food even when it's a huge serving of wet beans and beef without disintegrating, going soggy and limp, or cracking and falling apart. It's not fancy and you aren't seated...
I followed the hype, and came to this "famous" taco place looking forward to a plate of good Tacos de Asada con chile, sebollas, cilantro, y queso. What I got was some kind of sick taco simulacrum. I would not even call this Mexican food. Everything is straight from a can and tastes like wet cardboard. Honestly -- Taco Bell is better.
The TJGOODFELLAS believe that Tito's Tacos is by far the best "taco joint" in L.A. We regularly take time out of our busy schedule to travel the 25+ miles from Long Beach to Culver City to have lunch at Tito's. The Chili con Carne (also used in the burritos) is unspeakably good... If we ever go broke (unlikely), we'll sit at the freeway offramp, holding our little sign "WILL WORK FOR TACOS F...
Just like Tommy's is to LA so is Tito's. Perhaps the best Taco Joint in the World. What is it about this place that has kept me coming back for 7 years. 1 word the Salsa. They have the smoothest Salsa in LA. The Tacos with Cheese are clutch. $6.00 and you are full. Tito's is always packed but the line goes super fast. Park on the street it will save you the pain of parking in their over c...
What a great place. Wish it were a little cleaner.
I know it sounds impossible, but try not to listen to the hype about this place. Yes, it's really really REALLY good, but I know so many people who are not blown away by their first bite and never come back again. My advice: order 2 tacos w/ cheese. It automatically comes with chips and salsa (which is the BEST SALSA EVER!!!)....anyway, it will be good, but probably not amazing. Wait a week...
there is no more exciting phrase thrown about my office than this one. tito's can't be beat!
This is worst food I've eaten - ever. The food is very cheap and so is the quality. Everything tasted as if it had been poured from a can. I ordered a cheese enchelada and a chili relleno from the otherwise all-beef menu. Both were served drenched in what tasted like Chef-boyardee meat and tomato sauce, and covered with a melted slab of velveeta. The relleno also had velveeta filling. No fresh or...
i remember growing up as a kid eating the burritos and tacos. delicious flavor and taste. definitely an l.a. establishment everyone should ckeck out.
awesome chips, salsa and burritos. Worth the drive from the Palmdale area.
This restaurants foodtastes as though it were processed. Their food actually tastes like most frozen meals. If you like oozy and monogomous taste, this is it!
Best Tacos in LA all the people in line day and night year after year can't be all wrong. None of that mass restaurant style tasting food here. By looking at the Top choices on the ratings you begin to wonder if they really ever dined at the restaurant. Maybe be low threshold of satisfaction or simply sheep.
I've been going to Tito's Tacos since I was 2 yrs old; and I still consider it my favorite. The tacos are the best and there inexpensive. The only thing that sucks about Titos is that they only accept cash and there's never enough room to sit and eat. But that's okay because the food more than makes up for it.
Simply the best. A Los Angeles landmark, it is always crowded. The tacos and burritos are great and cheap. A great place for families or anyone from out of town. Be ready for long lines and great food.
I have eaten here since the 1950's when I was in high school. What did I ever see in this place? Its ordinary food and the he place is crowded and dirty. BUT like Yogi Berra says "No one goes there anymore because its too crowded." They do the business (But why is the question) - There are hundreds of better Mexican restaurants around L.A.
Oct 19, 2007 - I still feel the same way, what do you ...
I used to love Tito's and I do think their burritos are the best tasting. However, since they continue to use lard in everything but the guacamole, I no longer eat them. But they do smell so so good when I drive by on my way to Baja Fresh.
Okay, so ambience is pretty non-existent... What Tito's fans go there for is the first-rate tacos & salsa. Altho it's pretty much a glorified food-stand, it has a particular essence all its own. It's been my favorite for 25+ yrs & always my first choice if i'm not looking for a sit-down-&-be-served meal - quite handy in the workaday pace.
If you like cheap beef stewed to death in unremarkable sludge, wrapped by a greasy tortilla, topped with processed, unmelted cheese, this place is for you. Salsa is the only decent thing, and you can only take it by the thimbleful.
It's a hole in the wall, but there is always a line for a reason.
I lived on the West side when I discovered this place. I would never stop because the lines always seemed so long. But after weeks of never seeing the lines any shorter, I thought to myself, there has to be a reason why the lines are so long. Two words: GREAT FOOD. In their defense, the lines are long, but the place is like a factory cranking out orders at record speed. No matter what time you go...
If you are in the mood for Mexican food, Tito's is the place to go!! The lines are long (due to the quality of the food), but they move pretty quickly. You can get in and out within 10 minutes.
I finally had the chance to stop by and grab some lunch. My friends were getting excited about this place. Now I'm excited about it. Can't wait to go back. I had Tacos. It was all that and chips plus salsa. When I saw people eating in their cars I knew this was a good spot.
My family and I moved here from Chicago in 1975. The first thing we did was spend all day athe beach. On our way home we stopped at Titos Tacos, of course there was a line so we figured it must be good. We couldn't have been more right. This was our first intorduction to Mexican food and we were hooked. Needless to say I have been enjoying Titos Tacos for almost 27 years and they are still as goo...
I went here with my good friend Jesse, the connoisseur of good mexican cuisine. All good, authentic...simply the best...and I was really in a bad way looking for some good salsa verde. for on the go or eat out on the benches, tito's is the place for me.
I don't know how Tito's got in the top 10. The food is wack. People just go their cause it's "cool". If you want real tacos try Tacos El Unico, they make the best tacos hands down.
This resturant is a staple in Culver City and should be a landmark!!
While my mother was pregnant with me she was living in Africa, and the only thing that she craved was Tito's Taco's and Hershey candy bars. As soon as she landed she raced to the Tito's.
This place is YUMMY...you MUST try it. But beware the lines are long at the typical eating times (12-2 & 5-7)...but well worth the wai...
Tito's is the ebst deal in town! Their food is always the same GOOD AND CHEAP. I prefer the taco with cheese, but my husband never misses the chance to get a burrito. Get the extra chips and salsa and you are set for a perfect meal for 2 under $10! Make sure to share a table, you never know who you will meet.
