  4. great, friendly service
Fun, lively and loud...drinks are fairly cheap, bartenders are quick and friendly (especially Jonah!) and the music is great. will be back soon.

  5. real new york bar, one of my faves
I have been to No Malice a few times and it has always been a great place to hang out. On the weekends they have awesome d.j.s and music to dance to, and there is a great energy in the place. All the staff have always been very friendly, even though it gets really busy. Sometimes i've had to wait to get in, but its always worth it and i've never had to wait too long. I live in the east ...

  6. Bouncers are the worst
A friend of mine was having a birthday thing there. Unfortunately there was a line, but fortunately a couple of his other friends had already arrived and let me jump into line with them. I understand it's a pain to be a bouncer in the city. I've been here 10 years and for the most part I just take it in stride. The whole time the bouncers were hassling the people waiting, organizing us oddly ...

  7. Terrible Service -- They Overcharge you!
Terrible place! The bartender charged me 18 bucks for two amstel lights (he said they only had 2 beers and no draught). Then I ordered another 2 amstel lights from another bartender and he charged me 12 dollars. When i closed my tab and left no tip for such ridiculousness, i was asked "did you have a problem with the service." when i told the other bartender what had happened, he just shrugge...

  8. You're beautiful. Don't ever change!!
So I recently moved to NYC and I'd been missing my old watering holes in San Francisco. Nothing around here seemed to make me feel at home. A good friend of mine asked me to come along on a Friday nite to what she called the biggest, baddest hole in the wall bar of all time, the No Malice Palace. While I'm not one to take another's opinion at face value, I was intrigued by the name. As soon as we...

  9. No Malice forefills its hype
last week i had one of the most enjoyable experiences, in my NY city bar career. I tend to go out to spots on a regular basis and at the no malice palace i found great blend of hip hop, and reggae, a bit of other stuff. It was pretty busy and when i looked at the bar i was a bit nervous. thinking it would take a long time to get a drink, but i was in and out in know time. i stayed practically the...

  10. Awesome East Village Bar with huge crowds on the weekends
The No Malice Palace has always been one of my favorite local spots in the East Village. Its comfortable, well-designed and staffed with friendly (and s*xy) bartenders. During the week it's the perfect spot to chill with friends either at the bar or on one of the sofas (one comes complete with a crackling, fake fire). There's also an outdoor patio for smokers who don't want to block the sidewalk....

  11. This place IS the East Village!!!
I just can't get enough of the NO Malice Palace. Every weekend I mean to go somewhere else but always find myself back here. Its my cheers of the East Village as far as the comfortable, welcoming, layed back, unpretentious vibe goes, but with super hot bartenders, and kickin hip hop. Drinks are good and strong, a real ba*g (wow! very strict rules about language on this web site) for your buck....

  12. I was disappointed
After seeing all the good reviews on citysearch, I went there on a Saturday night with some friends. We got there around 2am, were expecting the place to be packed. However, it was probably 80% full and no one was dancing. The crowd was rather on the sketchy side. The music was good though and drinks were cheap.

  13. "Below Average" sums it up.
I've ended up at this place accidentally three times so far for parties. After the first, I wouldn't have gone again if I realized it was the same place. It seems constantly crowded and way too dark. Drinks are overpriced for their size, pour, and quality. I don't know what everyone here found so alluring about the atmosphere - the place is pitch black aside from some lounge seats, and any time t...

  14. Funny, Chill, No Frills Atmosphere
The music, mood and drinks are right. Bartenders are great with ocassional buybacks and there are comfy lounges to sink into.

  15. Great music with dancing, atmosphere, drink prices and staff!
I can only say great things about No Malice Palace. I have had 3 parties there in the last year and every time I'm more and more impressed. The dancing is great with a live DJ all the time. There is an outdoor seating area where you can cool off and carry a conversation on with friends. The bar staff are pleasant to work with and they always are good looking. I recently read an article a...

  16. Well Done...
LOVED this place. The staff was wonderful - no pretension at all - same with the crowd. Was a little b & t at the beginning of the night, but by midnight, they were gone. The music was EXCELLENT - Evan is an awesome dj... I know the general review is that it's not a great dancing spot - I disagree. Plenty of room to wiggle your donkey(they wont let me curse)...

  18. Forget "ehhhh," this place is cool
You know what? I've only been to this place 2 times, and both times were a bucketful of fun. I like this bar. I've lived in Alphabet City for 3 years but only discovered the aptly named No Malice Palace recently, and in addition to having a great name, the staff is nice, the people look good, and the atmosphere is a refreshing balance of hip and friendly. Pay the Palace a visit, I say.

  19. Ehhhh
Went here on Saturday night. Not very impressed. It was sooo dark and loud and way too crowded, you need supersonic earplugs and night vision goggles just to get by. Was glad to leave. The only decent thing was the drink prices. $10 for two beers and a cranberry & soda.

  20. Great Scene
You would never know that behind a green light on a side street in the East Village lay this gem. The bar has a huge back space and backyard. The DJs are always playing new and old school favorites and the bartenders are friendly and attentive. It can be slow on weeknights and hit or miss on weekends, but it has great space to lounge if that is your goal. The drink prices are comparable to Manhat...

  21. Who let all the kiddies in?
Before it filled up on Saturday night, this place looked promising -- comfortable setting, nice lighting, lots of room, but then it filled up with obnoxious drunk 22 year olds in lip gloss and halter tops. Horrible DJ, ridiculously overpriced drinks -- $4 PBR?! -- and horrible atmosphere. If you're looking for a laid back bar to drink with your friends, go elsewhere, but if you're looking for a m...

  23. My Favorite Bar Ever
This loungy intimate space heats up every weekend night with a live DJ, stiff drinks and beautiful faces. I's a good idea to meet up with friends on the early side before the place gets too crowded. I often come on weekday nights when there is not so many people. Plus, the bartenders are hot! Try Sunday, Monday or Thursday nights, you'll know what I mean... Overall it's a great place to have d...

  24. Don't look for a name
no name on the joint. Look for the green light. This place was packed by 1am like most other posters said, but you can find places to chill with a lot of space. Most people just hang out towards the front, move to the back where the couches are to chill. Drinks made well, music was alright, thought it was a tape for a while.

  25. great local bar
perfect hangout. the bartenders remember your name, buy you drinks, and chat away. plus, everyone is pretty easy on the eyes. come before 11 on thurs-sat: otherwise, it's packed with people from uptown looking to slum. they're annoying; the bar isn't.

  26. A Tight Spot
this place is really tight. The music is not updated. I don't remember the atmosphere cuz it was to darn crowded to see anything. I think there was a party going on. And they let practically anyone in. If you hate crowds, don't go.

  27. Pssss...can you keep the secret?
No Malice Palace is a great time! Very cool staff and the crowd is very friendly every time I have even been there. The drinks can get pricey, but they tend to be stiff. Get there after 11:00 when the crowd picks up, and your eyes will have a lot to enjoy. Lots of beautiful young ladies for the guys, and attractive hipsters for the girls. Just wish the music varied a little more. They play t...

  29. At least the dervice was good
I read all of the reviews here and went there for someone's birthday with great anticipation. Unfortunately, I did not have a good time at all. The atmosphere to me, seemed pretty blah. It was one of those places that makes you feel tired. The music was up and down, sometimes the hip hop selections were just not that good (also contribuiting to that sleepy feel)...oh well, the service was goo...
