When searching for a salon 10 years ago, I happened upon James Alan Salon. I was pleasantly surprised at the friendly attitude. The other salons I went into just wanted to do my hair, take my money and get me on my way. Not James Alan. I was greeted as if I had been a long time client. I immediately felt at ease albeit a little nervous. I hadn't changed stylist in years. Who knew the Heather woul...
I've been going to this salon since I was a kid. Everyone is overwhelmingly nice and easy to talk to, and they give me great haircuts every time.
If you want to get a new haircut but are unsure of exactly what you want, this place is perfect; you can ask your stylist (I recommend Keri, but they're all highly skilled) for a recommendation. Most likely, it'll look great.

I have been using this salon for about 6 years for cuts, color and facials. Matthew, the owner has provided a great work environment for staff and it shows by the customer service. This salon has the Gene Juarez feel with out the snobby attitudes from the staff. For cuts I have had appointments with Christine and Kim and they both are very talented and have done an outstanding job. For fac...
James Alan salon is very up-to-date with their techniques, but it doesn't at all feel snooty. I've seen all kinds of people of a variety of ages coming through when I've been in. The prices are very competitive, actually seem lower than what some of my friends pay at other salons. Looking forward to their new and improved salon, whenever that is constructed!
as far as salons go, this isn't going to be comparable with your local Hairmasters. The service here is wonderful, and well worth the cost of doing business for me.
Not for those seeking an economy cut, however, once you go to James Alan's, you won't go near those places again.
Ronnel always does an awesome job with my hair...when I actually can get in there! It's a little bit pricey but it's well worth it. When they shampoo they give scalp massages. I've been to other salons that make me feel uncomfortable when I get in there but not at James Alan Salon. Everyone is always so friendly.
I have been going here for about 5 years, and it is the best place I have EVER had my hair done. The hair stylists are very talented and they aren't pretentious. The prices are very reasonable. They also do a lot of community service, which I think is very commendable. It should be exciting to see them at their new location!
James Alan is the best. I have been going to the salon since junior high! Everyone is so wonderful and all the stylists do an amazing job. I do see one person in particular-but I have had cuts and colors from others too. I feel like a new woman every time I leave.
I would reccomend this salon to anyone.
I've been going to James Alan now for about 12 years. Love it love it love it. I have my special stylist but if she's not available there are others just as talented who can step up and do the job. And there's none of that "she's my client" attitude here. It really is a team environment. AND they have late evening hours. You don't have to go downtown to find high end stylists anymore.
Believe it or not, I have been getting hair cuts/treatments at James Alan since I was old enough to sit still throughout the service! All of the stylists are incredible, and the salon does great things for the community! Not only do I love being a James Alan client, I am proud to tell people I am! (I know this review is super corny, but it's true!)
A full-service salon without the high prices and pretentiousness of the downtown salons. The staff at James Alan Salon are so nice. They make you feel comfortable and welcome. Even if you don't live in the northend, I'd still tell you - it's worth the trip! Highly recommended!
