Thai passion is located right downtown and is the perfect spot to go after a night hanging out on 6th street, they offer the best thai food in downtown. The prices are a little high but worth it.
I was really looking forward to trying a great Thai restaurant in Austin, unfortunately I went here. The shrimp in my Pad Thai was "off" and the dish was inedible. I never send food back, but this was truly awful. The kitchen staff assured me that this was how the dish was, "supposed to taste." They were nice enough not to charge me for the Pad Thai. Also, the waitress didn't bring silverwar...
This place wasn't nearly as good as the other reviews said. We had the curry and chicken satay. It looked and tasted like something you would buy frozen at costco and heat up in a microwave. And it was around $12 for each plate.
I went to this restaurant once before and I liked it, so I thought, why not try it again? The second time I went I found what can only be described as pubic or armpit hair in my pad thai. Now, I know that this kind of stuff happens sometimes, so I politely told the waitress and she told me they would bring me out a new dish. However, when the dish came back 2 minutes later, my friend and I were p...
For a person who is either Thai or knows how REAL THAI FLAVOR is, would be greatly disappointed. I'm Thai and I have to say that the only beautiful thing about this place is the atmosphere. I'd say if this place wasn't located in the heart of downtown, it would have been out of business within a few years.
First time I had their food was when I came to visit Austin, I had Phad Pet Squids. F...
We had dinner at Thai passion on a weekday night in a group of 5 people. The food was wonderful but the service was awful to say the least, it took the server almost 10 minutes to get us water then another 20 minutes to get our appetizers. We would have understood if it was a busy weekend night but on this night the restaurant was less than half full. Also, since we were in group of 5, a grat...
Thai Passion always delivers- I've taken clients for lunch, had dinner with my family, and stopped by late nite(1am or later)after music in Austin and have always had delicious food, courteous service, and left feeling full and happy. I must say that this is one of my top 10 favorite restaurants in Austin. I frequent the downtown location mostly, but have had lunch at the Research restaurant and...
Been there a few times and almost always satisfied with the food and service. Great Beef panang and satay. Prices reasonable, service needs a little improvement...
Went there last night (Thursday evening) with a few friends and we were seated immediately. It took about 15 minutes before a server came over to bring us water, and probably another 10 minutes followed before someone came to take our order for appetizers. Appetizers came and were pretty good (I ordered Tom Yum, friend ordered Satay). For dinner, I ordered Pud Kra-Team Puk Thai. When it came, the...
I'm Thai from out of town. I heard about this restaurant a lot. I had a chance to be there last week. I can tell it's the best Thai food and restaurant. The service was great....as well the atmosphere was wonderful....SO CHECK IT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ^_^
My friends and I went to Thai Passion for dinner a couple of nights ago. We were told the wait was about 10-15 minutes so we sat down to wait. There were two couples ahead of us that got seated within the first 5 minutes of our wait. Being a "large" party (of 3), we waited patiently to be seated. After about 20-25 minutes of waiting, a new party of 2 entered and were seated promptly much to their...
i've always been fortunate to get some pretty great service. however, the food is not very consistent. don't get the pad thai- its nowhere near as good as madam maam's. but the fish in basil sauce is fantastic, and so are the more adventurous dishes. be carfeful when you come here, i would say right around 9:00 is a good time.
I have a prety complex palet. I love all kinds of food, from all over the world. I love to try new food and new places, but this place is soooo great, it makes for 90% of my diet. The food is uncommonly fresh and healthy. I feel so good after I eat there, no guilt that I ate something unhealthy or too fatty ect. I recommend the Thai Passion Noodle, I have had this daily for years. The staff gives...
We found nothing like the reviews said. I found the food to be very americanized and not thai. The ambience was decent, nothing special. The food was sweet and not spicy, I mean literally sweet (no need of dessert). It did not taste right to eat the sweet curry with rice. We also had an order of Pad Thai, which was sweet too. We will not recommend unless you want to have sweet thai food:-)
All I can say is that I'm thrilled I got a chance to eat thai food here! It was delicious and the service and everything else was spectacular!
I stopped by here for lunch one day on the recommendation of a friend, but I think he may have been kidding. I stood around for at least 5 minutes before anyone noticed I was there and was then seated by a slacked faced young man in no hurry. They attempted to regain my favor by adding extra grease to my spring roll and then make up for lost time by not cooking the potatoes or carrots in the cur...
I went here with co-workers today for lunch. Our food ticket was lost, and the mistake was not noticed for 45 minutes. By the time the problem was rectified, we had been waiting for our food for an hour, with no apologies. The food itself was ok (bland and uninteresting -- inoffensive). Of my 8 coworkers who were there, only one actually enjoyed the food. We were charged full price, and when...
The food here is always great, service is good.We have taken a lot of our friends to this place and i think almost everyone liked this.We love their sticky rice with mango.but one small thing previously they used to add some sauce to the sticky rice with mango ,one was chocolate sauce and the other was some yellow sauce, but these days they add a different sauce ( green colored or red colored)inst...
After moving from Berkeley a few months ago, I was excited at the prospect of finding a good Thai restaurant in Austin. Although we enjoyed several good dishes, including the Tom-Kha soup and the Pra-Ram, our experience was an overall letdown due to the poor service. Arriving at a half-empty restaurant on a thursday night, we waited five minutes before anyone acknowledged us and seated us. Ou...
I wouldn't call this place an "UPSCALE" thai restraunt; maybe for Austin it is... this place although good holds back on seasoning like most Thai restraunts in the city by catering to mid-western taste buds. Neverthless the food is good and definitely above average when compared to other local thai restraunts; below average when compared to thai restraunts in Houston or the West Coast.
Thai Passion is so far, the best Thai restaurant I know in Austin. I ordered pinapple fried rice, and it was very delicious and creative meal. My friend ordered pad thai, which he really liked. It also has a nice romantic atmosphere. Drawbacks are one of their appetizer, satay. It wasn't too good. And food there isn't as spicy as other Thai restaurants. But overall, I had a very satisfying dining...
I'll admit I'm not an expert on Thai food, but Thai passion has my vote as the best in town. Their location is convenient, the prices are reasonable and every meal I've had there has been excellent. A good place for a business meeting or a romantic night out.
