New York's Most Talked about Cozy New Bistro and Wine Haven
Bar Henry opened November 2009 at 90 West Houston Street in Greenwich Village. Located in what its owner terms "the last legal cellar in Manhattan", it can easily be found by the distinctive neon sign at sidewalk level. A few steps down stairs and patrons will find themselves enveloped in an evocation of old New York. A century-old mahogany American bar from a Cold Spring Harbor tavern dominates the bar at the front of the house with an amazing display of wines from around the world. The floor is black and white Italian marble, the room lit by vintage brass chandeliers. Past the bar and the compact, lively kitchen, guests are welcomed into a cozy dining room with polished wood floors, brick walls and a gleaming copper ceiling.
